Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

The Dark Lord Returns

Escapes International Trial. Destroys Ministry. Martial Law to Follow

by Charlie Johnson

Last summer it seemed as though the wizarding populace could finally breathe a sigh of relief, despite the tragedy that had occurred at the 134th Quidditch World Cup, a tragedy in which we had lost our beloved Minister, Hugh Logan. Azariah Amaranth, whom his followers, The Knights of Walpurgis, call "The Dark Lord" had been finally apprehended. There is no need to recount the atrocities committed in this man's name, for they are all still very fresh in everyone's mind. And even since his capture, his followers had continued to act as if he was only gone on a brief holiday as they continued to go about terrorizing the wizarding world. And now we know why.

The Dark Lord, despite all the magical protections and wards that should have kept him restrained, has escaped. Has wrought death and destruction upon the Ministry, many of our fellow wizarding leaders from abroad, and has completely obliterated the Ministry for Magic in front of countless muggles in the early morning, killing many--magical and non-magical alike--in the process. Their mark now remains burned on a large clock tower, there. And for the first time since the founding of the Ministry, there are more muggles that have been witness to magic than the remaining members of the Obliviator's Squad can perform memory modification on. We can assume that they have not become fully aware of our world, but sources report that muggles everywhere are asking questions of their government, and they are not getting answers sufficient to their liking. The final death toll comes in at well over two hundred.

In short, our entire way of life has been jeopardized. The Dark Lord and his followers have won a great victory in their war for chaos, as they have caused it not only in our world, but in the muggle world as well, as our non-magical brethren riot for answers we cannot afford to let them have. They are angry at their governments for not protecting and informing them, and we are left just as lost and confused as they are. And just as vulnerable.Too soon to even start picking up the pieces.

I realize this is a rather emotional, personal, and unconventional way to write a newspaper article, but these are emotional and unconventional times we are living in. Who knows what the Dark Lord will do next? But we have not lost yet. The Acting Minister for Magic--his true role prior to the massacre at the World Cup having been that of Head of the Auror department--Jacob Surla, has taken full executive powers. With no legislative power left in the Ministry, there is little choice but to go into full Martial Law, lead by the the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Barrabas DuMaine. Mr. DuMaine was unavailable for comment at this time, however, we have the Department's full confidence that there will be no abuse of their new power. However, there will be some changes in order to ensure that every citizen remains safe. For instance, there will be a curfew for every man, woman, and child of the wizarding world. It is in everyone's best interest that no one is found outside their homes after eight o' clock in the evening. Aurors and Magical Law Enforcers will be present at every place of business, on every street corner; will be armed with dark magic detectors and probity probes, and will need lodgings in the houses of ordinary citizens in order to keep their posts (do not bother volunteering your home, however, if an officer is in need of lodgings, they will come to you). Any suspicious fellows should be reported to the authorities immediately.

Many have asked if Hogwarts School is to close its doors after this tragedy. I am here to assure you that the school will in fact not be closing down. Hogwarts remains one of the safest places in the wizarding world. In fact, from here on until Martial Law is no longer necessary, all students must remain at Hogwarts, and I have been informed that the Triwizard Tournament will continue. They will not be allowed to leave the school or the grounds under any circumstances. Students will be routinely searched, and the normal curfews already observed at Hogwarts will now be enforced by aurors as well as by staff, as Jacob Surla prepares to send his best to ensure that Hogwarts remains a safe place to learn, even in these dark times. Parents, I realize that you may want your children at home, but please, do not, for any reason, try to take your students out of Hogwarts. And it would be in anyone's best interest if we all avoided that place, unless we have proper authorization from Magical Law Enforcement to be there. To do so without authorization could result in dire consequences.

I realize this sounds harsh, sounds like an invasion of your rights, but it is necessary for our safety. The aurors and Magical Law will be working hard to find a way to rid us of the scourge of Azariah and his Knights, but for now, we must all do our part. We must all be proper citizens and do as we are directed by those who are looking out for you and me. We must do this for in memory of those whom we have lost to these terrorists. We must not let them win.
