Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Horacio DuMaine
Member Avatar
Fifth Year

Student

Full name: Horacio DuMaine
Nickname(s): None
Gender: Male
Birthdate: December 18th. Born a week before Christmas, neighbouring wizards believe Horacio to be cursed. Of course, they're all just a stupid and superstitious bunch. Well, according to Horacio anyway.
Age: 15
Year: Fifth Year.
Blood: Pure blood
Wand: 10 and 1/4 Wilow, Dragon Heartstring core.
Preferred House: Slytherin

Appearance:
Height: 6f
Eyes: A large, gentle brown. Hugely deceiving given his persona.
Hair: Dark brown hair, hanging about the shoulders, sometimes in a ponytail, usually just let down. Also, a slight beard forming on his chin.

Physical Description:
Tanned, and, from what is visible of his body outline, a well defined physique. Of course, he doesn't go parading about half naked, so it's hard to tell. When not wearing his student robes, he instead dons long, flowing silver robes with green hems, despising typical muggle gear. When in a position where it is unavoidable, however, he generally goes about in a typically casual look of a slightly bulky brown leather jacket and jeans.

Personality:
What can one say? Pure-blood, and proud of it. Domineering and proud, he insists on getting his own way and will go to any lengths to achieve them. He regards his own goals as a greater good for the rest of wizard kind, believeing them to be truly dominant. How could they not be? One flick of their wrist and they could end a muggle life. If that isn't superiority, what was? At least, that's what he believes in his mind. Stubborn, and generally set in his beliefs, it's almost impossible to convince him of otherwise once he sets his mind on something. He tends to prefer steering away from creating any forms of bond or relationships with people other than fellow Slytherins, however, once he does, he is loyal to them. Perhaps too much so. An unusual trait for a Slytherin.

History:
There was nothing particularly special about his parents meeting, at least not to Horacio's eyes. They'd met at Hogwarts, and, by their 5th year, had gotten friendly with each other, despite being in rivalling houses. By the time they graduated, they'd already hooked up and had taken the traditional skip around the world together. Neither of their parents were too thrilled about their coupling, but her parents were understanding, at least partially so, and his mother took comfort in the fact that at least a pure blood line would be continued. His father, on the other hand, never really forgave him. Which might explain why he prefers his grandson, Horacio, that much more.

Horacio had always displayed signs of magical power, ever since he was an infant. Not that there had been any doubt, both of his parents being pure bloods. Still, the way in which it manifested itself, never helped situations any. Both of his parents were often busy at work in the Ministry, his mother working in the Muggles department (Another reason for Horacio to dislike her), and his father, as a Magical Law Enforcer. Ironic, given Horacio's history.

Given that they were too busy to look after an infant, they often hired nannies to do the task for them. None of the nannies ever lasted long though, sometimes even literally running out of the house, screaming. Horacio always seemed particularly defensive around them, and all too often, he would send an electric jolt down their spine if they tried to handle him. That could be one reason why.

Then his mother became pregnant with his younger sister. Once she was born, his mother decided to quit her job, mainly because none of the nannies would come near the house anymore. Horacio didn't see it that way though. What he saw was favouritism towards his little sister, and he resented it even more, further solidifying his hate of his mother.

One day, however, there was an emergency at the Ministry, and his mother had to attend to the matter, as well as his father. After much convincing, one of the old nannies agreed to watch over the children, just for that one night. That same night, however, upon the parents return, the nanny was found smouldering on the living room floor. Quite dead.

Horacio never parted his lips when questioned rather angrily about what happened. That's an understatement. His father was furious. He was a Magical Law Enforcer, and he couldn't even control his own son. As punishment, his father declared that Horacio would never see the inside of Hogwarts.

This, in turn, pissed Horacio off considerably, and he showed it at every opportunity. The sealing moment, however, was when his father held a dinner party for his department at his home. An exploding chandellier right before dessert is rather hard to explain as anything else except for a son who needs to be taught how to control his magicks. It was classified as an accident, and Horacio was sent to Hogwarts afteralll. Intentional?...

Who knows?

But after that, Horacio seemed to grow strangely more confident, eager, even. He'd gotten used to getting what he wanted, and going out of his way to get it. It had worked the first time, why wouldn't it work again?

Family: A mother, a father, and a younger sister. His parents were an unusual couple, a mix of Gryffindor and Slytherin blood. Horacio despises his father for marrying a Gryffindor, and oft refuses to share space with his mother, much less speak to her. He regards Hogwarts as a more than welcome escape from both of them, and dreads the thought of going home, staying at Hogwarts during Christmas holidays, and any other holiday, as often as possible, doing all he can to postpone that inevitable happening. If that wasn't bad enough, his younger sister just started coming to Hogwarts as well and, woe be to him, she was sorted in the house of Gryffindor. Her current status to him...denounced.
Pet(s): A ferret of snow white fur. An unusual choice for the typical wizard, but Horacio felt a pull to it upon seeing it one day at the pet shop in Diagon Alley, and refused to pass the opportunity up. He seems to covet his ferret, nursing an undeniable soft spot for the creature. As a matter of fact, he has an affinity for many animals, another trait unusual for the stereotypical Slytherin.
Possessions: He may refuse to speak to his parents, but, on the other hand, he is on excellent terms with his grandfather who, like him, is extremely dissapointed in his son, and even more proud of his grandson. As such, Horacio possesses a grand sum of wizarding coin, and spends it extensively. As soon as a new model of anything comes out, he immediately snags it up, refusing to be on the losing end of anything. His prize possessions are his broomstick, a Firebolt, which he claims makes him an UNBEATABLE Quidditch Keeper, an invisibility cloak (not infallible like the one of legend, but still effective enough if he wishes to hide....another gift from his grandfather), and a jade pendant he sports often around his neck, depicting a snake. Another family heirloom that his grandfather neglected to pass down to his father.

I'm pretty sure I gave my email address already upon registration, and would prefer not to display it openly.

Just happened to come across it on Google.

No. But I am a lyric writer, and am more than capable of writing in the English language. (I hope)

Yes, I have bookmarked www.hogwartsinteractive.org

Given that it's been clearly stated as impossible....I think I'll go with conjuring food out of nowhere. I'll go down in history for it.
