Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Cole raised her eyebrows. She seemed to have a good bit of pent up hostility towards this Ian person. She had hear the name before but had never made his acquaintance.

"You'd be surprised. Lots of people tried to call me Colie. I absolutely hate Colie. I have an unbearable cousin called Nicole that everyone calls Colie. What a nightmare. That girl belongs at the bottom of a lake. And when I used to go by my middle name, Sabrina, they tried Brie, Brina...I just don't like nicknames. People were named for a reason: to be called as such, not anything else."

She, too, gazed up at the stars. She had a sort of obsession with stars. She turned her left wrist and pushed up her bracelet, revealing the line of small black stars drawn just below her wrist. They were perfectly drawn, all the same size, all in solid black ink. She ran her index finger over them. Of course she knew that a flickering star meant it's impending death. The thought of it set her mind at ease. There was something about death that struck her as easy, calm.

"I wonder if you can see a person flickering before they die," she said, her voice practically a whisper. She was very still, except for her finger tracing the stars. It must have been very late. She wondered if perhaps they should head back to the common room. She didn't care to get in trouble, detention was no bother to her, but she probably needed a few hours of rest before the start of the Tournament in the morning.

It's cute that everyone thinks they can be a queen, but remember who came FIRST.

"...I think so," whispered Tinsley, her lips barely moving. The thought of death sent a cruel chill down her spine, filling her mind of thoughts of her mother. Her mother seemed so close to her, and still so far away. Shuddering, Tinsley drew her knees close to her, and hugged her body tight. "But never consciously. Maybe as an afterthought, we recognize the signs."

Her mother's dark, sunken eyes--her waxy skin, taking on a pale, gray tinge. Her haughty eyes, Tinsley's haughty eyes, permanently welling with tears that never seemed to fall. Her long, willowy curtain of white blond hair drastically shorter--grayer. It was like a beautiful flower, wilting. At the height of its life, it's beautiful and breathtaking: mesmerizing, awe-inspiring. Then...life fades.

"As humans I think we have a tendency to be very close-minded," said Tinsley tentatively, hoping not to put-off Cole with her thoughts. Truthfully, Tinsley had never been very honest with anyone before. Perhaps it was time to turn over a new leaf. "I mean, it isn't our faults. Like--like those Ravenclaw's. Like Resultran, and...what's-his-face. Percy." Tinsley sighed. "That's why it's so easy to manipulate. You figure out what makes people tick..."

Tinsley held her breath, glancing at Cole out of the corner of her eye.

"Figure out what makes people tick, and you can change it."

Cole nodded, in complete agreement with her statement. She thought back on her life and realized something that almost stunned her, something that nearly made her heart stop. When her father and mother died she would be capable of feeling nothing. Her mother was as cold as she was. She had left her very own Cole Sabrina Abott to be rasied by a chain of no-name incompetent nannies. And what had her father done? Sure, he had given her the world. He had showered her with gifts, even when she had been living in France attending Beauxbatons. He had sent her on lavish trips all over the world. But he had never been a father. He never met her with a bear hug at the door when she arrived home from Peru. He never wrote her letters telling her how much he missed his baby girl when she spent months alone exploring Russia. Not once had he been at her birthday parties.

She felt the bitter sting of acid rising in her throat. Thoughts like that made her nauseous. She pushed them away to listen to Tinsley. She wasn't sure, but she felt as if she were a stranger looking through a window into someone else's home. Like she was watching someone else celebrating a holiday while she lurked outside, quietly observing the truth and purity of a tender moment. There was something about Tinsley that inspired a wave of thoughts. Maybe it was because she knew about star deaths, or because she appeared to be sharing her innermost thoughts with a complete stranger.

Cole remained silent. She had the urge to take the other girl's hand, put her arm around her, some comforting gesture. But she knew that would cross a line that hadn't even really been established yet. She looked down at her lap, her blonde hair falling across her face. After a moment she looked over at Tinsley. There was something in her eyes, those golden windows to her soul, that said very clearly "I'll listen", though she would never speak the words out loud.

Tinsley met Cole's gaze, feeling incredibly vulnerable--and it was not a comfortable feeling to say the least. She felt as though she had opened a door that ought to have stayed closed and locked, and was now welcoming a wave of emotion she'd much rather suppress. Suppressing it made seem as though it was not there, and if it was gone, Tinsley could happily go on being the self-proclaimed Queen Bee, the icy Slytherin people thought of when they thought of the typical, dead-behind-the-eyes, yet terribly cocky Slytherin. She was the defining standard.

Was being the key word.

"You must know what I mean," continued Tinsley evasively. "You can never make anyone love you. But you can make them fear you. And...for what it's worth, Cole, I rarely open up to people." This was a solid, set-in-stone fact. Tinsley had struggled with telling Constanta the privatest of things, even though they were less friends and more sisters, and Tinsley could hardly dream of thinking of anything other than filthy Mudbloods, alcohol, or sweet revenge in Julian Kahn's presence. "This is a very rare instance indeed. Maybe it's the mead I had earlier. I went in the forest, you know. For detention. Made a few friends."

Tinsley sounded off-handed, and hopeful that Cole would assume Tinsley's new friend was a deadly werewolf or an intimidating vampire, and not...well, a teenage centaur.

"Well, that was emotionally awk," snorted Tinsley bluntly. "I wish I had some Chocolate frogs. They almost always seem to cheer me up when I'm in a mood--it must be the mead, must be the mead."

She was unafraid of eye contact and held Tinsley's gaze for as long as she would allow. She felt no awkwardness, no intimidation, but perhaps that was just because she had never allowed herself to feel anything other than comfortable in the presence of others. She listened intently.

"I like to think it's possible to make someone love you. Or at least make them think they love you for a time," she said. Except my mother. "It's just like making someone fear you. You find out what they want, what drives them, how they play their games. People are easy to figure out. You don't need that much information."

But she knew she was one of the select few who was not that easy to figure out. Because despite how blunt she was, how honest she was, she never divulged enough information to actually make herself vulnerable. She would have never slipped up like Tinsley had and given away such an emotional statement. But that's what made her such a fiercely devoted person. When she actually found someone she loved, someone she could devote herself to, she would stay by them for all eternity and defend them with every fiber of her being. She had yet to find that person.

"Rest assured, I understand not opening up to people. I don't do it. Ever."

The forest sounded nice. Tranquil. She wondered what kind of friends she had made there. Not that she cared, but curiosity had always been a huge aspect of her personality.

"I think I might actually have some chocolate frogs in the common room. Shall we?"

Tinsley got up, wiping dirt from her robes. She smiled sheepishly and, with one last look at the sky above, nodded curtly. "Chocolate, and warm beds in the girls' dorms. Really, though. What else could someone want from life?" Snorting, Tinsley offered Cole a hand in getting up, without realizing that was doing so.

Tinsley could be heard babbling mindlessly all the while. "It's like a girl's paradise--or nightmare, depending on how many chocolate frogs you guzzle down...we've got girlish figures to watch, Cole. We wouldn't want to meet on the Hogwarts' Express when our children come back like giant ogres--that'd be way too awk for me to deal with."

Her voice could be heard for much longer than their bodies could be seen as the two marched up to the castle.

Paul's eyes flinched at the fire that ensued before him. He looked away, but the light was still affecting his eyes and all he saw was a multicoloured blur that impaired his vision for a few moments. He stumbled a bit before regaining his bearings. During this little intermission of losing his eyesight temporarily Paul had heard a mushing of shouts and voices that weren't really making any sense to him. When he looked back over, he found that the flames had been extinguished and he saw a glimpse of a robe scuttle out of sight and through the main doors. Paul left the grounds and entered the doors to Hogwarts with this in mind:

The front doors remained unlocked, which was a surprising gift as Sawyer rushed onto the grounds with Collin at her heels. The wind blew against her, sending her hair whipping around and a shiver down her spine. The moonlight illuminated the grounds magically, and Sawyer wasted no time unzipping her boots and wiggling her feet out. Leaving her white shoes on the stairs, Sawyer bounded onto the grass, her laughter dulled slightly by the howl of the wind.

She loved the grounds, the outdoors; just not all the manual labor stuff. Sawyer beckoned for Collin to chase her as she ran freely towards the Great Lake. She wasn't worried about the teachers, she didn't care if she got in trouble. All she wanted was to be outside, in the fresh air and just breathe. The grass felt spongey under her bare feet as she hurried down toward the lake. She reached the shore, out of breath and smiling happily.

The sand on the banks rubbed softly against the bottom of her feet, and she scrunched up her toes. Sawyer breathed deeply as she walked slowly to the edge of the lake and stepping into it. The cold water sent a horrible chill over her body, but she didn't mind it... much. The cold was begining to clear her senses. Turning, she called over to Collin, "It's so beautiful out!" Sawyer looked like a child as she splashed the water around her feet, sprinkling her knees with cold water.

Collin ran through the doors of the castle as he was pulled along by Sawyer. He stopped at the stairs watching in amusement as Sawyer bounded down them in front of him, barefoot. He followed suit, kicking off his own shoes, and rushing down to where she'd run to. Laughing, he joined her down by the sandy part of the lake, watching her splash around. It was chilly. He dipped a foot into the water tentatively, before shivering, watching the icy black lake ripple from Saywer's splashes.

He glanced at her as she grinned, her face flushed with the cold. "It is," he said, admiring the scenery. He kicked a stone around aimlessly and grinned, wondering if this was the drunk Sawyer or the sober one. It was hard to tell. "Feeling better?" he asked, stepping into the water as well, feeling the refreshing feeling rise up all the way to his knees as they numbed from the water's cold slapping waves.

Sawyer smiled, and crinkled her nose. "I feel fine! I've felt fine the whole night, thank you very much." Sawyer pretended to scold him, placing her hands on her hips in a very Tinsley-ish gesture. She rolled her eyes and smiling, tilting her head back and looking towards the pearl colored moon. She felt like she had felt when she was in the forest. Before she had the chance to really fear her surroundings. The first night had been the easiest. Tinsley had led her to the edge of the forest and bid her bon voyage as Sawyer dissappeared into the darkness.

Sawyer remembered just staring at the moon for hours, her ears immune to the howling of the wind, or of the wolves, or the crack of branched near by being trode on. She had felt whole then. Now, not so much. Being outside brought back bitter sweet memories for Sawyer, as she closed her eyes and let the moonlight invade her. Rolling her head forward, Sawyer looked at Collin and smiled. "What?" She asked, noticing his stare. Suddenly self-conscious, Sawyer crossed her arms over her chest and kicked away the minnows swimming happily around her toes.

Lithia was quietly sitting by the shore of the lake, not caring about the teachers or if she got in trouble. She wanted to be outside, where she can feel free and breathe. She sighed as she looked up at the moon, she wasn't worried about the time or the other students that were out there. She just wanted to relax, she looked down at the water cocking her head to the side gently. She brushed her black hair from her face as she thought quietly to herself, not worrying about anyhting at all.

Sanctimus followed Dahlia as she pulled him along and looking back over his shoulder he couldn't decide whether he wanted to stay and watch or whether he wanted to go with Dahlia. He finished thinking about it and decided he would go with Dahlia and then turned to her and kissed her lightly on the head and then walked with her towards the castle arm in arm but before they got even close to the door he pulled her over behind a tree and spoke to her."What was that all about and what was that about ....Tinsley I think her name was...worshiping the knights? He stood there doing his best not to look intimidating and waited for an answer.

Collin shook his head, pushing back his blonde hair with a contented sigh. "Nothing," he said innocently. He thought about it and changed his mind. "Can't I look at you without you being suspicious of me or whatever it is you've been doing?" he asked with a grin. Still, he had to admit, Sawyer had a kind of right to be suspicious of him. He was a teenage boy for goodness sakes. His mind wasn't exactly the cleanest thing. Right now, however, he was enjoying the simpler things about Sawyer. Like the way she seemed to glow in the moonlight, wearing that white dress, and the way her cheeks turned pink in the cold...

Woah. He jerked his mind from those thoughts before he got carried away again. Still, the nagging feeling to 'close the gap' was still there. He was a teenage boy, as said before. But he had limits for goodness sakes. He simply decided to innocently walk behind Sawyer and splash her a bit. He grinned.

"Whoops."

Sawyer's jaw dropped, did he just splash her? Yes. But instead of being her usual bitchy self, Sawyer giggled slightly, stepping away from him with her head high. "Whoops my ass." She said in disbelief, turning back to face him and pouting slightly. "Didn't you mummy ever teach you manners? It's impolite to splash a lady!" Sawyer informed him, winking in the darkness. She was having a better time then she would have guessed, splashing in the filthy, ice cold lake water with Collin.

Walking slowly through the water, careful to splash him as she approached, Sawyer smiled. "And I'm not suspicious." She claimed, though her tone sounded as if even she wasn't entirely convinced. "I'm merely .. cautious." Sawyer said with a shrug of her shoulders. Now that they were no longer in the dim, eerie green lighting of the common room, Sawyer could fully appreciate Collin's features. He couldn't be that good looking, could he? Perhaps it was the moon, which made even the darkest of things seem bright. Sawyer waded through the water, until the cold licked at her knees. She sighed contently, basking in the moonlight.

"I'm merely .. cautious."

"And of what, might I ask?" Collin said, crossing his arms as the lake water splashed up against his clothes. "You're very vague, you know?" he laughed. He followed Sawyer around where she waded, taking longer strides where the water was deeper. He could see others near the lake now, but nowhere near them. It was just him and her and the moon. Well, that was a cheesy romantic setting if there ever was one.

"Are you afraid I'm a mass murderer in disguise?" he asked, amused, wondering what on earth she thought he might be plotting or whatever it was she thought. He watched her as she waded around, just appreciating the moonlight, he figured. He grabbed a stone from the shore and skipped it for something to do, watching as the moon's reflection rippled and twisted as the stone bounced off it. Unable to resist, he splashed her again as he walked past her to retrieve another. Whoops.

Sawyer huffed, what was with all the questions? "I'm cautious of...everything, and nothing -- at the same time," She responded, in an airy voice. He thought she was vague, did he? Well - then he wasn't as oblivious as she would have supposed. She didn't purposely mean to be vague - that was just how she was. Sawyer knelt down, letting her hands skim the surface of the black lake. The water felt good against her skin, and if she had her way, she would never leave the lake.

"You? A mass murderer?" She snorted, smiling slightly at the thought, "I didn't think you'd be into anything that could mess up your hair," She mocked, standing upright again and looking back at Collin. "And even if you were a mass murderer," Sawyer played along, walking towards him, careful not to splash loudly as she went, "I wouldn't be afraid of you." She admitted, her eyebrows raising. There it was. Sawyer West, no fear.

Dahlia looked at Sanctimus and said, "I wouldn't worry much about it." She knew a lot about what it was Tinsley was talking about, mostly because Violet had told her a lot about her life, and a lot of her life had to do with the Knights of Walpurgis. Dahlia shook her head and said, "Really, don't even bother." She gave him a soft smile and tugged on his hand a little.

Looking at Dahlia and staring deep into her eyes Sanctimus lost himself for a moment, after coming to his senses he walked with her as she pulled him along and then soon over passed her speed. As he took much longer strides than her he picked her up in his arms as he entered through the main door of the school and into the entry hall.

"Ha. Ha. Ha..." he said sarcastically, a grin spreading on his face, nevertheless. Most people did assume that he was simply a 'pretty boy' and nothing more. However, Collin was exceptionally good at athletic things. Not that it did him much good in the magic world, where skill was based on how well you waved a wand or made a potion. It was why he loved Quidditch.

Determined to redeem himself, he flung a rock as hard as he could into the lake, attempting to skip it. The rock went out far, but hit the water with a clunk and a splash. Embarassed, Collin shook his head. "Er, wait," he said, picking up another rock. This time he was sure not to throw it so high. It skipped perfectly, gliding across the water to meet his other rock at the bottom of the lake.

He glanced up at Sawyer, somewhat taken off guard by her next comment. "Is that because I'm not intimidating enough?" he asked with a grin, "Or are you just fearless?" He entertained himself by throwing the stones and skipping them, gradually making his way closer to Sawyer. Trying to catch her off guard, he stood behind her and pushed her shoulders forward a bit and whispered, "Boo."

A sad attempt, he knew, but he wasn't trying to really scare her. Not that he thought he could, anyway. It was too peaceful out here to really be scared by anything... except maybe something as intimidating as he was.
