| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Violet resolutely ignored the hesitant mumblings of paintings, grumbling warnings as she led Connor onto the grounds. Her jet black hair blew around her in a fierce gust of cold wind, and Vi turned her face towards the moon, smiling softly. "I wouldn't worry if I were you." There was a soft, moaning howl in the distance. Violet seemed unusually unperturbed by the ominous sounds. "There's nothing to worry about. Nothing at all." A fresh breeze rattled leaves around their feet as they walked, towards the edge of the forest. "Tell me, Connor. Are you easily frightened?" Violet licked her lips, giggling. |

As Connor was led onto the grounds by Violet, a small smile played at the corners of his lips. The wind whipped around them in large gusts, and Connor couldn't help but shiver. When all sorts of sounds came at once, the hairs on the back of his neck pricked up nervously, and his eyes flitted around, scanning the edges of the trees for any signs of movement. There were none. "Mmhm. Nothing to worry about" he repeated what she had said, more trying to convince himself than anything else. His eyes looked into Violet's as she spoke again, and his brow furrowed, trying to decide what to say. "I'm not scared that easily..." he finally admitted. After all, it was true, except on occasions when he would just fall to pieces. This, would not be one of them. For many resons that Connor had made up in his mind, ever since she had asked the question. As a loud cawing could be heard from in the forest, Connor gave a mild jump, before laughing under his breath and smiling sheepishly at Violet. "So.. adventure eh?!" |

"Good, Connor," said Violet, her expression never changing. "Then...you won't mind." She took his hand gently, arching an eyebrow. Her eyes sparkled mischievously. "It's only a bit farther." A silence fell over the two as they continued to walk, towards the ever-growing expanse of dark trees which signified the beginning of the Forbidden Forest. "It's misunderstood," explained Violet, with a sly smile, "It's hardly frightening." Violet shrugged her shoulders, bringing him closer. As they reached the very outskirts of the dark clouds, everything grew eerily silent--it could have been cut with a knife. The silence was broken by the gentle hooting of owls and a sudden howl which seemed closer now. Violet shuddered slightly, a sadistic grin spreading on her face, half-hidden by shadows now. "Careful, Connor." Without looking back or even thinking of any consequences, Violet tightened her vice-like grip on Connor's hand and brought him into the forest, though barely. They could still see the castle through the thickets of dark trees. A grumble and an ominous screeching sound was heard close by. "Excellent!" chirped Violet, resisting the urge to skip. |

Connor grinned and nodded. "Eh, it's the forest... what else can I say?" he said in an agreeable tone, true, part of him agreed with Violet, but he was unsure. Had she already decided what they were to do? Where they were going to go? And why it was the forest in particular? The Forbidden Forest. But Connor didn't cae anymore, the situation was swiftly becoming one of those "Do now, think later" incidences. They set foot into the forest, although it was a little further than just on the edges, it wasn't so far in that they couldn't see anything. The light of the moon was partially blocked out by trees, but Connor's eyes quickly adjusted to the dim amount of light. "We're not going to get eaten by werewolves are we?" he asked devilishly, eyes sparkling in excitement. Connor had noticed various howls echoing around the forest, and it had set him on edge. But only a little. |

"There are no werewolves to fear just yet," said Violet a bit sharply. "Any werewolf that would be able to linger in these woods would have to be a student. And you know Belleford would want them drinking the wolfsbane potion..." Vi glanced sideways at Connor and smiled. "Let's hope that's the case, at least." A screech was heard, very close this time. Apparently breathless with excitement, Violet held her wand in front of her--"Lumos." She shoved Conor behind her gently. "It'll be easier this way. Just try and stay quiet, will you?" They had walked directly to a line of trees, obscuring the path they had taken. Stepping forward, Violet moved away some branches to peer through the leaves. Excitedly, she reached for Connor's hand, and darted through the leaves and branches, stomping through the forest ground until they reached a clearing. And there, illuminated by the moonlight flooding the open clearing, Violet seemed at a loss for words. "They're beautiful." Violet stepped forward and rummaged through the bag hanging on her left side. With a content sigh, she reached for a large chunk of raw meat, and tossed it into the center of the clearing. Great, bony, winged, emaciated black .. horses, for a lack of a better word, gracefully strode into view. A small one, a tiny, weak-legged infant, stumbled to the meat, and poked it with its black, astoundingly sharp break. Violet watched, mesmerized. "...Can you see them?" asked Violet quietly. ooc | THESTRALS! |

As Violet reached for Connor's hand, he took hers and grasped hold of it tightly. She had already reassured him about the werewolves, but he was a little nervous, and the fact that students could be werewolves too just made him feel uneasy. "Let's hope..." Once the pair stopped darting through the forest, at a pace which Connor couldn't keep up with, he edged forward, nervously, still wondering what the screech was. He couldn't identify the sound, it was different, but sounded similar at the same time. Poking his head around a branch, Connor's eyes fell upon an illuminated clearing. And in the middle were scrawny, horselike creatures, a little one poking at a bit of meat - which Violet had just thrown into the clearing. Connor wondered where she had gotten the meat from, and why it was in her bag, but the thought was pushed to the back of him mind, as he gazed, mesmerised by the creatures. Eyes widened, and Connor tightened his grip on Violet's hand, still a little nervous. "Y-yes" he said, still astounded by the black things. "But what are they?" he questioned, Connor was sure he had seen them before, or at least heard of them. But he couldn't pin-pont where. |

Violet felt Connor grab for her hand a bit tighter, and she smiled at him gently. "They aren't anything to fear, Connor. They're just..." The smallest thestral lifted its head curiously and on its wobbly legs rolled in the dirt, playing a game. Another young child rolled with it. The two were watched by giant thestrals, their skin stretched taught over their gaunt faces, each of their brittle bones visible. Their eyes, white with no pupils, seemed to see all at once, soaking everything in with a grace which was astounding to Violet. "Different. Misunderstood." She knew that more than she'd like to admit. "They are thestrals," explained Violet. Her voice was uncharacteristically gentle, compared to how it had been, now that she knew Connor could see them as well. "They only appear to people who have seen death." Violet watched on silently for a few moments, before quietly speaking up again. "If you don't mind me asking...who did you see?" |

"Thestrals..." Connor didn't know why he had spoken aloud, or if he even meant to in the first place. He smiled, slightly amused at the children playing. "Cute, in their own way." he laughed under his breath and flashed Violet a smile. Connor now felt more confident looking at the thestrals, since he knew what they were... and why they could only be seen by some people. "Oh. I don't mind. I was at my aunt's house one day, and playing with my cousin - we were the same age, see. I must have been about, five or six, I think. I can still remember it clearly, though." Connor gave a light shrug of the shoulders, before continuing to speak, his voice dropping a tone or so lower. "And we were just playing, outside. He took a few too many steps one way and tumbled off the side of the cliff, where the house was built..." He stared at the ground, kicking a stone which was in front of his shoe to the side. "There was nothing we could do," his eyes gave a dull spark, reflecting sadness. "And then there was the time we went to another country with dad, for his book, and people were just dying all around us. Again, nothing we could do, it wasn't our country, or our place to do anything. A warzone." he shrugged his shoulders again, this memeory didn't fill him with as much grief as the other, but it still wasn't a happy thing to talk about. "And yourself?" he asked, forgetting that Violet could see them too, and therefore must have seen someone die. Edited by Connor Emerson, Jul 16 2009, 11:08:39 AM.

Violet listened to Connor sympathetically. It was strange, staring at the bony, great, winged beasts. They were eerie, but so breathtakingly beautiful at the same time. And when it was her time to remember those difficult memories, Violet found a strange strength in them. She inhaled deeply, and exhaled slowly, never once taking her eyes off the thestrals. "It was the Quidditch World Cup," began Violet, her voice dull. "I didn't know him. I had never seen him. But there he was, lying at my feet. I saw him dueling with a Knight of Walpurgis and I knew I should have helped--but I was with my sister. My sister, you see...well. My adoptive sister. She's young, younger than me, and just a Muggle." Thinking of Taylor, whom Violet had not seen since she had left to live with her real parents and real sister, made Vi's eyes water. "I had to protect my Muggle family....so I didn't help him. He tried to fight back, but this witch...with her piercing, icy blue eyes..." Violet shuddered. She could never forget those eyes. "A flash of green light, and there he was. At my feet." Vi clenched her fists, her hand squeezing Connor's. "The whole...thing. It just makes me so angry. How could I mourn the loss of someone I barely knew? No. I'm mourning the loss of everything--the Ministry's credibility, society in general... And life the way it was before." Violet cleared her throat. She hadn't expected to get so emotional, and her shock was clear on her face. |

Connor listened, he noticed how Violet started out sounding bored, but by the end, she seemed to be really wrapped up in what had happened. So emotional. He gave her a sympathetic smile, understanding how she felt. "Things are changing, and quickly at that. Becoming different, and it makes you wonder. How it will end, and whether anything will ever go back to how it was..." his tone was meaningful, Connor was sure he knew the answer, but as he had said, things were changing at such a pace it was hard to keep up with them. So in all honesty, he hadn't a clue. "What happy things we're talking about, eh?!" he said in a small attempt to lighten the atmosphere, a smile growing bigger on his lips. Connor turned his head from Violet, to look at the thestrals again, they were breathtaking. Even just looking at them from a distance was calming. And despite the spookiness that they gave off in their looks, well they were beautiful. And as Violet had explained, misunderstood. And that was something which Connor had grasped now, because he too thought they were fantastic. And he wondered when he could see them again, after all, sneaking into the Forbidden Forest wasn't a regulat occurance, but still. He could try. It wouldn't be the same though, the first time was always the best. It is usually that way. That's what Connor thought, anyway. |

Violet shrugged, never taking her eyes off the thestrals. "I usually don't have many happy things to talk about." And it was the truth. Violet wouldn't lie about anything serious, and she definitely didn't want the sympathy of anyone. No, Vi had more important things to worry and think about. "Some of us have more things than they'd like to admit hidden in their closets, Connor." She cleared her throat uneasily. "But...I must admit." The girl rummaged through her bag and unearthed another slab of meat, tossing it into the center of the clearing. Unperturbed, she wiped her hands on her legs. "Spending time here has been pretty fun. Happy, even." Violet finally turned to face Connor, her smile wide. "We should do this more often. Maybe not spend too much time here--" The rustling of leaves made Violet twitch. "--seeing as there's always something going on that shouldn't. I've heard stories." With Dragomir Slayer as your father...it was impossible not to. Violet shuddered slightly. "But adventures are always fun, aren't they?" That sly, mischievous, trouble-maker smile of Vi's came back very suddenly, a manic gleam in her eye more pronounced now. "The principal difference between an adventure and a suicide is that the adventurer leaves himself a margin of escape (the narrower the margin the greater the adventure). Tom Robbins said that. Though I'm pretty sure he's never been anywhere as cool as here." Violet snorted. "Does this make us friends, Connor?" The question was rhetorical, but Vi arched an eyebrow--secretly hoping he'd answer anyway. |

"Everyone has secrets, it's whether they choose to tell them or not." Connor said simply, he of course, didn't have many secrets. Whether this was a good or bad thing, he was unsure. So Connor gave a small, but simple shrug of the shoulders. "But, we should do this more often. It's been nice. And I'd prefer an adventure any day." he winked, his eyes sparkling. What Connor had said was genuine, he had enjoyed the evening, and getting to know Violet a little better had been good too. "And, I guess. It does make us friends." Con said happily, and they seemed to have gotten along fine - if not better than just fine, up until then... but a thought crossed his mind, "If you are ok with that, though." Connor added quickly, not wanting to hastily rush into the situation, although it seemed a little too late for thinking about that now anyway. "I'd like to be, Vi" Connor gave a small smile, his heart picking up the paces slightly faster than usual. |

Violet's heart skipped a beat. That was odd. She had assumed it was made out of the stone up until that point. "I'd like us to be, too." She voice went up nervously at the end of her sentence, so it was more of a question or a proposition than anything--still, regardless, Violet smiled, quietly watching the moon overhead. It must have been getting very late. Violet's eyes felt heavy as she yawned. "Maybe we should head back up to the castle. I'm pretty sure you're still drunk," laughed Violet, feeling light-headed with happiness. Her hair was suddenly shocking pink, a bright lime green, a cotton candy blue--"So drunk you'd think you were seeing things!" Violet couldn't possibly help herself. In a giddy mood, without exactly knowing why, she was prone to do silly things. Silly for Violet was very different from silly for other people. Her hair sat limply at her sides now, an interesting shade of lilac which contrasted horribly with her red lips and bronze cheeks, making her look like a burnt vegetable of sorts. "Right?" |

Connor's eyes widened massively, when VIolet's hair started changing colour. "Violet.. your hair!" he exclaimed, only just realising what she had said. "I'm not drunk... I'm not!" he said dubiously, Connor was seriosuly doubting that right then, what sober saw hair changing colour? Sure on Teddy Lupin, but he was a metamorphmagus, and Violet. Was, well, Violet. "I'm not seeing things" he screwed his eyes together, and grasped Violet's hand, as he begun to shake slightly. When he re-opened them, her hair was still again, but was a lilac colour. Connor still didn't believe it. "That coulour doesn't suit you, by the way." Connor thought he might aswell tell her, but if he was seeing things, then no-one else would see how awful it looked on her, and it wouldn't matter. But there was the slim chance that her hair just randomly changed then and there, which he'd have felt bad if Connor stayed silent. "Are you, by, any chance like Teddy?" he asked, just checking, mainly to see if he was going insane. Connor would have to watch what he drank next time, because he didn't like the feeling of insecurity. "I'm not drunk" he repeated, mumbling to himself. |

Sanctimus exited the school through the small door in the much larger front doors and began walking towards the lake. I wonder if anyone's out here it would be nice to meet someone cause these books are beginning to get a little boring and since I don't really have any friends yet I could make a friend if someones out here...unless they are slytherin 'cause then I don't know if I'd be bale to make friends with them. he continued walking deep in thought not paying attention to where he was going. |

Dahlia was pacing alongside the trees, nearing herself closer to the lake. She whistled a soft little tune to herself and wondered where her very few friends had gandered off to. Looking around at the sky while whistling she paid no mind to where she was walking in front of her. Looking up at the sky, Dahlia walked straight into a larger figure, a male who seemed to be doing just the same as her. "Oh!" She said to herself in a loud whisper. |

Dahlia rubbed her arm and smile sheepishly. She was blushing and hoped he couldn't catch a glint of it. Interesting name, she thought. Holding a tiny hand out she said, "I'm Dahlia," shining him a glistening smile. Attractive? Yes, she thought to herself once again. Clearing her throat she asked, "You aren't a Ravenclaw are you?" Dahlia shot a look up at him and motioned her head over to the lake and took a seat near the edge of it, hoping he'd sit near her. |

Dahlia wasn't use to someone just coming straight off and telling her she's beautiful. She smiled widely and looked down at the ground. Biting her lip, she said, "Thank you.
