| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Olivia listened intently, staring upward as she drank in his words. She winced at the descriptions of pain and suffering, the vivid depictions of his ailment. "Professor Tortal came, and diagnosed what the healers could not: I had a magical parasite, implanted into my body from an unknown source." Olivia's brow furrowed. Olivia thought for a moment. "A parasite. Does it... feed off you?" She grimaced at the idea. |

Hellius shrugged, burying his fingers into the sand. He ticked at the side of his cheek, recalling more ailments and parts of his mentally collected personal profile for Olive. Consciously comparing information, he soon took a deep breath from his mouth and continued. "I believe that this parasite would be more like something you'd call from your upbringing as a demon. That's essentially what it is... in every shape and form." Staring up at the moon, he sighed, relaxing himself even further than he was before. "It whispers in my ear. It can control me. It can say things out of my own mouth. It can take my conscious into my subconscious, necessitating me into its realm. It can kill," he remembered third year, "and it can destroy other magical beings. Professor Aphelion attempted to counter the demon with a symbiote, a guardian angel, but no avail. It's now chained and tortured in the dungeon of my subconscious." Edited by Hellius Surla, Jul 2 2009, 03:18:19 AM.

"I believe that this parasite would be more like something you'd call from your upbringing as a demon. That's essentially what it is... in every shape and form." Olivia could feel the fear rising in her chest. She bit her lip. "Professor Aphelion attempted to counter the demon with a symbiote, a guardian angel, but no avail. It's now chained and tortured in the dungeon of my subconscious." "It was trying to burn you," she whispered, realization dawning. She sat up, turning to Hellius with a look of mingled sympathy and apprehension. "And... that means there's no cure; no way to control it." |

"Not unless I die, which it will not allow," Hellius conveyed apathetically, making a quick nictation. "So, I am stuck with a demon that is fully capable of taking control of me, which is why 'I' have attacked so many people and why I always appear so genuinely hostile to everyone. It's either everyone finds out about my little affliction and I'm expelled because so many parents are freaked the f*ck out that their child is going to get injured by a magical parasite, or I stay at Hogwarts and be looked upon as the sadistic asshole." He was silent for a moment. "And I picked the latter." |

"I can see why," Olivia said, laughing humorlessly. She exhaled loudly. "Merlin. I never would've guessed." She gazed ahead at the lake in bewilderment. It was all too strange. A chill crept up Olivia's spine, although whether it was from the night air or the true tales of demonic parasites, it was impossible to say. "I won't tell a soul," she said abruptly, "I swear on my life." |

Hellius sat up and looked past Olivia to the water beyond her. He thought for a moment-- on what happened in third year with Abaddon Delitrious, to the promise that she just made. It was a serious matter, to promise on your life, and with the parasite, if Olive wasn't careful, might make her carry it out. "Last time that someone decided to put their life on the line in regard to the parasite happened to lose it. I really don't want to have you suffer the same... horrible fate." After finishing the last sentence, Hellius mentally facepalmed himself. There was already too much he had imposed into the current dialogue and he really didn't want to say more. But, those that come seeking erudition from him will find it, as the youthful Surla was a kind of person who refused to keep insight from those who sought it. |

"Last time that someone decided to put their life on the line in regard to the parasite happened to lose it. I really don't want to have you suffer the same... horrible fate." Olivia felt the color drain away from her face. She gulped. "You- it- killed someone, didn't it?" What have you gotten yourself into, Olive? An instinct at the back of her mind told her to run, to escape back into the confines of the Hogwarts castle and force herself to forget anything that happened tonight. However, in truth, she pitied Hellius more than she feared him. That, along with an insatiable curiosity, kept her glued to the bay of the Black Lake. "Who?" she asked faintly. |

Hellius remembered the night of the murder with crystalline confusion. The memory was dispersed-- so much had happened at one time that events that perspired in the middle were recollected towards the beginning, and the beginning towards the end. All that was clear to him was that the parasite had murdered Abaddon Delitrious, the son of a family friend and a nearly lifelong rival. "Abaddon Delitrious. Third year. In the Forbidden Forest. With.... claws," Hellius tilted his head off towards the forest, trying to relocate the diameter to where Julian Kahn saw Hellius' parasite-controlled body kill the young Ravenclaw. "Julian Kahn and I were out in the forest for detention. Abaddon followed us out and attacked me. We dueled for a few minutes before the parasite overshadowed me... and..." Hellius swallowed, not sure if he'd include the final details. It was hard, as he witnessed everything from his own eyes as it occurred. His body was moving against his own will, but he was still witnessing everything: seeing the blood, seeing the look upon Abaddon's face, hearing the muffled screams, drowned out by gore. "...the demon ripped out his heart." |

"Abaddon Delitrious". She vaguely remembered the Ravenclaw from her year... but the name hadn't surfaced for quite some time. "We dueled for a few minutes before the parasite overshadowed me... and ...the demon ripped out his heart." Olivia choked on her breath. She was still for a moment, frozen with shock. Slowly, she turned to Hellius, horror etched on her face. But despite what he told her, Olivia didn't see a monster. She saw a boy, the ghost of a painful past hanging heavy on his features. Olivia sighed, scooting closer to him. Hellius didn't seem like the hugging type, so she simply sat beside him. "I... I'm sorry," she said feebly, gently placing her hand upon his. After a few moments, she asked, "And... where does that leave me? Do you figure the demon will decide I know too much?"Her face remained placid, but Olive's heart had begun to race. |

"Addie and Julian, as well as whomever else they've told knows. Usually he doesn't interfere in my personal life so long as I'm keeping his presence on the down low, and he doesn't actually take full control of me unless I'm in a position where I could die-- as was the case with Abaddon, who knew spells far above our year level; and when I was attacked in the forest by Tinsley in suite with a member of the Knights of Walpurgis towards the end of last year," Hellius continued, popping his fingers, turning back towards Olive, his face apathetic and his eyes glistening with star-crossed affectivity. "You're safe, I would believe." |

Olivia's jaw dropped. She never liked Tinsley, but never would have suspected her involvement with the Knights of Walpurgis. "I never liked that twat," Olivia said angrily. "You're safe, I would believe." "Well that's a relief," Olivia said, swallowing, "I- I wish there was something I could do, you know?" She turned to Hellius, noting an odd look in his eyes. "What?" |

"I'm thinking about what happened at the Quidditch World Cup," he recalled the events from over the summer, brushing at his mouth with the side of his fist. "Azariah had the knights gather all of the Elementium users, including myself, and put us into a dining hall while the chaos ensued above. He explained to me explicitly... that I was destined to lead, and I was destined to be a main puzzle piece in his plan. I don't know how, though." Hellius looked at Olive as he lowered his eyelids slightly, appearing more so apathetic. He felt a movement in the night, like a wind blowing over a field of grass. He could perceive a current in the darkness, shadows winnowing in subtle movement in a direct path towards Olive and Hellius. Like drops of water splashing into a pond, with every splash, waves followed, until the entire surface was distorted and warped. It was as if, with every movement through the shadows, waves softly crashed against his body, fluttering against his skin. "It could have something to do with the fact that I control darkness, but I doubt it. That only helps me-- especially as I can feel someone approaching right now." |

There was little thought going through Myles' mind that Hellius would feel him approaching. As he snuck through the darkness, he had only one thing in mind: getting under Hellius' skin in any way possible; whether it be through attacking him, berrating him, or simply throwing things at him from afar. Getting to the edge of the hill overlooking the shore of the black lake, Myles paused, crouching down and studying Hellius and the girl beside him. What are they doing? And... what are they talking about? If worse comes to worse... I'll just have to throw them both into the lake. |

"I'm thinking about what happened at the Quidditch World Cup." "Oh. I was only partially conscious for most of that," Olivia said with a half laugh. "Azariah had the knights gather all of the Elementium users, including myself, and put us into a dining hall while the chaos ensued above." Elementium? "Is that why Emma can control plants?" She recalled the night in the Forbidden Forest the previous June. "What can you-" Olive began quietly, but let him finish before asking any more. "He explained to me explicitly... that I was destined to lead, and I was destined to be a main puzzle piece in his plan. I don't know how, though." Olivia gazed at the distant trees. It was strange to be sitting side by side with someone whose future was so clearly written in the stars, each piece laid out. It hardly seemed fair. "It could have something to do with the fact that I control darkness, but I doubt it." Ah, that's his Elementium. "That only helps me-- especially as I can feel someone approaching right now." Olivia turned her head every which way in the darkness to catch a glimpse of someone approaching. "Who is it?" she asked him, hugging her knees to her chest. |

Hellius shrugged, turning around to face the direction of the silhouette in the darkness. "A student, most likely. Small, scrawny, wand drawn... I presume a 4th year playing Auror." Leaning his head to the side, Hellius popped his neck and then pressed himself to his feet. Staring off towards the silhouette that almost immediately dropped cleanly to the ground, trying to stay out of sight, Hellius shrugged again and turned off toward the lake. "Or it could be a nosy asshole from our year. I can't tell at this point, but I really don't care. You know me. You know what I do. I'm not afraid to do it again," Hellius soughed, letting his wand hang loosely between his fingers. |

"Or it could be a nosy asshole from our year. I can't tell at this point, but I really don't care. You know me. You know what I do. I'm not afraid to do it again." Olivia cocked her head to one side. "Lumos," she said, her wand lighting at the tip. She could see a figure in Hogwarts robes lying on the ground atop the slope. "Hey, who's there?" she called, remaining in her spot by the shore. |

Oh, exposure. Frowning, Myles threw himself to his feet and lunged backwards, waving his wand in a threatening wand movement. "Lacerosempra!" The air around him turned a crisp, staticy cold-- cling tugging at the tip of his wand as a bright, white beam launched from the dirty white wood. The cylinder-like beam continued through the night air, illuminating the ground below and cutting off the tips of grass as it passed over them. Myles began to sprint to another position under the guise of the dark, unknowing of any of Hellius' capabilities. |

As a shout was begotten through the darkness and a white light illuminated the position where the silhouette was, Hellius growled menacingly. "MYLES," he bellowed, grasping tightly onto his wand. Familiarizing the spell that Myles had just fired at them as the laceration curse, there were only so many things that Hellius could to to counter it. Something needed to take the blow of the curse, otherwise Hellius or Olivia would end up with deep cuts that could end up being deadly. Reaching out to the Elementium, Hellius calmed himself, the necessitated emotion to have full control of the Shadow Elementium. His emotions were wiped clean and he was once again apathetic, yet fully prepared for the duel ahead. A thin, substantial wire of shadows was picked up from the ground below him, and in an instant, it wrapped around the log Olive had been sitting on just moments before. Flinging it into the air, right in the path of the Lacerosempra, it collided. The bright, white light disappeared straightaway, slashing and cutting the log into numerous pieces, sending splinters and slices in countless directions. Knowing the general area from which Myles was now moving to, Hellius awaited his cousin to pause. "The first attack is always the fake-- a distraction. Be vigilant," Hellius whispered, subtly pointing off in the direction from which Myles was moving. Edited by Hellius Surla, Jul 2 2009, 07:52:30 PM.

"Lacerosempra!" Olivia yelped in shock, retreating a few steps and losing concentration as the light of her wand extinguished. "MYLES." "Myles? Who the hell-" The log shot up into the air and received the laceration curse. Splinters rained down, and Olivia raised her arms to shield herself. "What is his problem?" Olivia asked, gritting her teeth as she raised her wand in the direction the boy had taken off in. "Some people take this holiday way too seriously." |

"Myles is my cousin," Hellius responded quickly, following him as he waded through the darkness. "Unfortunately, I don't think he's playing around. Unless he is. At which point he's going to be in a bit of trouble." Turning his wand hand out and pointing the tip towards his shorter cousin, Hellius outstretched his fingers, manipulation the shadows around Myles like trip wire. "Diffindo!" He called, the purple, comet-like spell shooting from the tip of his wand, right into Myles' path, appearing brilliantly dark through the black of the night. The shadows that slithered across the ground in Myles' proximity tightened steadily, being sure to wrap around his legs as soon as he made a mistake. |
