| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Does he seriously not get jokes? Oh, well I guess people from New Zealand are weird like that. "Well you see, I'm not really crazy. I'm kind of being sarcastic - you know what sarcasism is, don't you? Anywhos, I'm kind of being sarcastic, kind of like........ I dunno........ laughing at myself? exasgerating the joke? I dunno........ Margo looked around, searching for........ what? Inspiration? An answer? "I'm like playing around. Besides, I like crazy." She nodded as Rod asked her to come out to the forest with him again. "Sure, that sounds like fun." WAIT!!! Did I just say what I think I said?!? "Yeah, I guess that sounds like fun. But anyway, like I was saying, dandelions are deffinatly the best flower. First of all because they're the first thing that blooms every spring. Second of all because they are ALL OVER, they're like contagious or something. I mean, one day there's like three and the next day your whole yard is covered. Third of all because they are so bright - colorwize, not IQ. Although, I doubt anyone has ever tested the IQ of a dandelion, I suppose it could be quite smart. And last of all because you get a wish out of them." Edited by Margo Wright, Jun 30 2009, 11:26:11 PM.

Gabriel was pleased that she agreed to do this again. It would be fun. Two friends, out in the middle of the night, having a picnic...oh wow, the more he thought about it, the more it sounded like much more than it was supposed to be. He was glad when she changed the subject back to flowers, specifically dandelions. And, everything she said made perfect sense. They were very bright (color wise) and there were plenty to go around. But, a wish? Now, that was something he'd never heard before. "How is one getting a wish out of a dandelion?" he asked curiously. Crouching down, he patted the ground where he had been standing to make sure it was dry. Since it was, he sat down in front of Margo instead of beside her. It was how he would sit when out with a male friend. |

"Well you see, when the dandelion turns white and fuzzy, you blow off the seeds and make a wish. And if you can get all the seeds off in one blow, your wish comes true." Margo watched as Gabe sat down in front of her. Slowly she inched her way forward, until their knees were nearly touching. She took the cookies out of her bag and munched on one, then held the other out in front of her, offering Gabe a bite. Edited by Margo Wright, Jul 1 2009, 06:23:34 PM.

"Oh, I am understanding now," he replied to the dandelion explanation. He assumed it was an English superstition, like the Asian superstition that someone was talking about you when you sneezed. He liked this superstition better. And, taking an offered cookie, he said, "Some day, we should go looking for these white dandelions. It is sounding like the wishes can bring much good luck." He bit into the cookie, liking it. He hadn't had a sweet in at least a week, which was odd, since there were normally cookies at the tables during meals. Maybe he was just more weight conscious than he thought. "Are dandelions being around at night?" he then asked, trying to keep his mind away from the fact that their knees were touching. She was just like a male friend, he had to remind himself. "We could go looking for them now, if you wish. There is nothing happening other than the feast as far as I am knowing." |

"Yeah, but dandelions only -" Margo stopped suddenly. What was the harm in letting Gabe think that dandelions were still in bloom. It would be fun to look for dandelions with Gabe, even if they had all died out months ago. Thinking quickly, Margo made a hand motion"are about this big, so they'll be kind of hard to see." |

Gabriel smiled. "Why do we not go look for them, then?" he asked, fully unaware that dandelions didn't bloom anymore. He wasn't exactly familiar with the English name, and so didn't really know what they were in the first place. "Where would they be?" he asked, not wanting to get up quite yet. He liked sitting like this with Margo, but he wasn't even close to saying that out loud. What a fool he would look like if he said something like that. He finished off the cookie, looking around where they were sitting, but didn't see anything that looked like what she was describing. In fact, he didn't see any type of flower at all. The Forbidden Forest looked like it didn't really house anything but trees. |

"Probably somewhere that gets alot of sun, ummmm, maybe right at the edge of the forest?" Margo tried to recall where the flowers would be if they were in bloom, though it was hard to sound convincing. "Why don't we just look around here?" ((OOC: SUPER SUCKY)) |

"Yes, looking around here is a good idea," Gabriel replied. It wasn't that deep in the forest, so maybe there was a chance of finding a flower. But wait--weren't flowers cliche? He shook his head to get the thought of cliches out of his mind. Finally, he stood, looking around from a standing point. He saw something purple and walked over to see it better. it was a little purple flower hiding behind a tree root. But, it was not what he thought a dandelion was. He assumed dandelions were yellow, since they were talking about them being bright earlier. He plucked the little purple flower anyway, twirling it around in his gloved fingers. "I do not see any this way," he commented, still oblivious to the fact that he wasn't going to find any in the first place. |

((OOC: I'm sorry I haven't been on. I've been working hard long hours lately and I haven't had time for this. If you're all still with me, let's try and get this going as fast as we can yet as good as we can as this day has gone on longer than we had wanted already.)) "Can you think of no one, Fera?" said Banni as they continued to walk deeper into the dark forest, "Who do we all know whose aim seems to be total chaos and discord between all races and people? Who would have motive to have done this?" Banni paused. "Azariah Amaranth," he said, darkly, "but not alone. He did not soil his own hands in this, but for that, he needed someone within the Ministry to achieve his ends. And who would have access and power over the laws that the Ministry attempts to use to govern the affairs of my race? Alphonse de Ponte du Lac, of course. He was the head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the time. It was he and Dolores--who I believe was, at that time, in full control of her mind, though certainly not her good senses--who had penned the law limiting the areas in which my people could legally hunt. They sowed the seeds of malcontent that day, and it was Ronin and a number of my more extremist fellows who would rise to their bait. "I believe that Azariah would not have advised or condoned the use of the imperius curse. He is a strange individual indeed. He would rather have the sentient races of our world to freely enter the chaos of his twisted design in order to prove that we are all essentially selfish and unsympathetic enough to have created such strife ourselves. No doubt that if the Dark Lord ever found out that his lackey had manipulated the circumstances himself, he would be punished severely. Either way, the plan worked, regardless of the snags, namely that Ronin had broken free of Alphonse's control...perhaps with a bit of my help." The last statement was cryptic to be sure. Banni was referring to when Ronin, presumably under the control of Alphonse, and Banni had fought a battle that had meant to be to the death. In life, Ronin had been an unusually large centaur--which had made it no wonder why he had usurped control of the herd from Magorian when many of the centaur had been feeling antagonized and warlike--and Banni a runt. Yet somehow, Bannishtar had prevailed, though Ronin had escaped. When Ronin was found again he seemed to be in complete control of his senses. It was then that he'd made the claim that he had been manipulated by a wizard of some power. "Ronin had claimed, when we found him some time later, that it was a wizard that had put him under a spell. The claim was not taken seriously by many of my people, but I was well-aware of the existence of such spells, having more experience with your kind and your powers than my fellows, and so treated Ronin's claim a lot less lightly than the others. "And then there are the Redcaps," Banni continued, "You realize, I'm sure, that the behavior those creatures had exibited that year was not the kind usually associated with their ilk? You studied Dark Creatures that year, yes? Can any of you three give me a description of the common red cap?" |

Margo walked over to Gabe, and picked the little purple flower out of his hands, then put it in her hair behind her ear. "Yeah, I don't think there are any left. They die out pretty fast, maybe we should walk back up to the castle." Margo took a few steps up towards the castle, then turned around. "Don't forget your jacket. C'mon. Let's go back to the common room, we can wait there till Savanah's party. Were you invited?" |

Gabriel smiled when the flower was put into Margo's hair. "It is a good idea," he agreed, going to grab his jacket. He hung it over his arm, and started towards the castle. What they were going to do in the common room, he had no idea. When hearing about the party, he shook his head. "No, I am not often invited to these things," he admitted. It was true. He didn't yet know enough people to get invited to the parties. He did like the sound so he asked, "Is it allowed that I go anyway?"

Margo frowned as Gabe said he wasn't invite to parties often. Then she smiled, "That's ok, I don't either, really. Maybe Savannah wants something from me." Margo shivered again. Boy, it's getting cold. Oh, how I wish for sleeves! Carefully, she plucked the jacket out of Gabe's arms and wrapped it around herself like a blanket. "See, I took it now, so it's differant. And you can come as my date. Trust me, I don't wanna go alone. It'll probably be mostly stuck up snobs. You have no choice. You're coming." |

Well, parties weren't really Gabriel's thing anyway. Maybe they weren't Margo's, either. Whatever the reason, a party tonight seemed like a wonderful idea. He held back a laugh as his jacket was taken. He didn't mind, since he'd offered it earlier. But, he was glad she'd finally taken it. Hearing her rationalization on her taking it as opposed to him offering it, he nodded. The next part made his breath catch in his throat for a moment. Clearing the catch, he asked, "Your date? Well, I--alright, if you are insisting." He turned his face away briefly. Men were not supposed to blush, but he hadn't been able to keep his cheeks from flushing a light peach. When this was all gone, he continued forward, leaving the forest and heading for the Gryffindor Common Room. They could continue this conversation there. |

"Red Caps live in underground holes," said Fera, noticing that noone else bothered answering, "They like themselves wherever blood has been spilt, are extremely dangerous to lone muggles," Fera thought over it,"unless they carry gons, or whatever its called, but should be fairly simple to ward of with hexes and charms," She sighed, "the hogwart ones are NOT, and I think I can pretty much call myself proof when it comes to that," she wiggled her stump, laughing a little at the whole sickness of it all. Fera frowned, looking down at her feet, "I'm glad they got him, but knowing the Ministry, he'll probably get away," |

"I think that, with or without Azariah," said Banni, "the situation is dire. Most of his supporters are still out there. Most are active as well. Mr. Ponte du Lac has had the odd habit of continuously pushing back Azariah's trial date, for instance. No one knows what they are planning to do just yet." Banni wondered if he ought to be telling them all this. Of course he should, he decided. They'd be around to hear it when it was discussed in full with the other centaurs. And in any case, they had the right to know what was going on their world. Especially Fera, Banni thought with great pity. She bore the most obvious physical scars of the great catastrophe that was now playing out. The other two may not have been affected...yet. "Anyhow," said Banni, "You are correct. Ten points to Gryffindor." Perhaps this wasn't the time, still, Fera had given the correct answer, "These are no red caps. We analyzed one of their weapons. It was carved from bone. They would have had to have learned to do that, something that Red Caps cannot do, as they are mindless and enjoy blood only for its aesthetic value, as odd as it is to think that such simple-minded creatures could find aesthetic value in anything. Many of their victims, however, were eaten. Not to mention the unbelievable rate at which they breed. Small groups of them still roam the forest to this day, growing in number all the time. My people and I have been doing are best to keep the populations down, but we've had little luck in obliterating them completely. There are, however, too few to pose such a threat as they had that year, of that we are sure. "I believe they have been bred specifically for the attack upon Hogwarts and the centaurs. They were Azariah's ensurance that everything that could possibly go wrong in such a state of turmoil, would. And who do we know that would have had access to the center for Ministry-approved experimental breeding? Why the head of the Magical Creatures board, of course. Alphonse was the only one who could have gotten such creatures created in the Ministry's own labs, no doubt. And if a few went missing, then we would never hear about it. The Ministry wouldn't want the public to know that a number of quick-breeding, quick-learning monsters which they had no justifiable reason in creating seemed to have escaped. No, I'm sure it was all swept under the rug. Meanwhile the few that escaped were planted here in the forest and left to breed and become hundreds. "But I digress. The point of this is that the centaurs are well-aware of the Knights' treachery. Regardless of whether or not Azariah is truly brought to justice, his Knights are still out and plotting. I cannot tell you how I know this, but it is quite likely they are recruiting. And not just witches and wizards with unstable minds and a penchant for bloodshed, but all manner of creature, specifically those to whom they may be able to offer certain rights and privledges that they believe the Ministry has denied them. Like the giants...or the centaurs. However, we are fortunate that the centaurs have already been used in their schemes and are aware of it--something Azariah may not have counted on. They are angry. And we're going to need allies, especially if the enemy manages to recall the banished giants as a fear there is little hope of convincing them to our side. Even if they are obstinate to our pleas, we must try to get them to act, though it is not the centaur way. That is why we are going to meet the other centaurs. Do not worry, you are young ones and they will not harm the young. Halloween is an important night for the centaurs as well, so we are going to a party of sorts. There will be feast." |

Fera raised her eyebrow, the ends her mouth turning downwards. She stared blankly out into the forest, deciding to keep her interest on the tall, naked stems of the trees as Bannishtar rewarded her house points. Although, once he began speaking about the red caps, she mentally noted everything. Tilting her head forward, her eyes dug into her skull as she kept her eye on Banni. "They've been breeded?" She tried to speed up, so she was walking next to Banni. Storing every word as a treasure, Fera made sure it all stuck to her mind. "The giants? But..." Fera bit her tongue, she had thought they were a myth, extinct. Hiding her second of ignorance, she shot out her chest, proudly saying, "You can consider me a ally," she smiled a true smile, looking very awkward as her sharp little teeth showed, her whole body seemingly relaxing. But, only a few seconds later they were normal, tensed and wary, "but I guess you knew that, and I also doubt that my support makes any difference," The idea of a feast with the centaurs did nothing to dampen Fera's mood, who was suddenly grinning wildly to herself. Seeing how the centaurs celebrated seemed like a lot more fun than being at some dull feast, and Fera couldn't see how this was a punishment at all, "So if we get the centaurs to act, we can stop it before it goes too far?" |

Mitchell continued to walk in silence, but listened intently to Bannishtar's words. Hanging on to everything he said, whilst making sure that his face maintained the bored look. He tried to keep track of sll that was spoken, and made mental notes to himself, in case he needed the information in future times - and by the way the centaur was speaking, he probably would. "So... if we get the centaurs on our side - as allies - then that means we stand more of a chance, compared to Azariah?" he questioned thoughtfully, Mitchell was surprised that he had finally spoken up, and asked what had been running through his mind since Banni had started speaking. "But, wouldn't it be better if we didn't just get the centaurs? Like you said, the Knights are probably out there plotting and recruiting - and not just wizards, but creatures too. So why aren't we doing the same? Shouldn't we be thinking more about what is yet to come? You know, prepare and all that... Sure, the centaurs are a start, but they are just one group out of so many..." Mitchell wasn't sure where he was going with this, more so thinking aloud than physically asking the questions. Even though, he doubted whether Banni knew the answer to them, but would still like his thoughts to be acknowledged. Mitchell sighed in frustration, his own thoughts even confused himself, so whether Tinsley, or Fera, even Bannishtar could make much sense out of it - well that was debatable. He trudged onward through the forest, wondering what had brought on such an outburst of thought. Although through all this, Mitchell's face had remained emotionless, and if people hadn't heard how he sounded when he spoke his questions - the voice sounding genuinely concerned, then they would have thought he didn't give a damn. This, however, could be seen as a lie. After all, Mitchell did have some interest in the subject - no matter how big or small. It was still there. |

"Miss Collis is correct," said Banni, "This is what we can do now. We have some common ground with the centaurs already in that we both know the depths of the Knights' treachery, and so the other centaurs are unlikely to join them. But we need allies and so we'll turn first to Azariah's enemies before we tackle the undecided. If we can get the centaurs on our side, then perhaps we can persuade the goblins. Thanks to Professor Belleford, we already have the merpeople's support, but they've little power outside the waters. And, again, I'm afraid that the vampires, werewolves, and giants may already be too far gone. The Ministry has been very ungraceful in their dealings with most other races, but it those three to whom they have treated with the most unkindness. There was once a time when I would gladly let them reap what they have sowed, but now is not that time. Azariah must not be allowed to win, alive or dead. What most do not understand that he is, in fact, creating more division amongst all races, creating a world wherein only the strong survive and those who cannot win without someone looking out for their interests are treated as though they do not deserve to survive. Government may be ugly, but anarchy is uglier still. I hope the three of you realize this." It was a long walk, to be sure. To Banni, it was nothing, but he was sure the children were beginning to tire of this. Luckily, their destination was just beyond that group of trees which bordered the clearing where the centaurs had set up for their celebration. Halloween was the day to celebrate the recently dead, and to honor the hallowed warriors and great leaders who have passed on. The clearing was bathed in bright moonlight, so much so that the children's magical lights were longer necessary. The four were greeted almost immediately by over two-hundred centaurs looking back at them. Some puzzled, some only momentarily interested. Others still seemed a bit peeved, whether by the presence of humans or by Bannishtar himself, Banni did not know. Probably both. And yet, there were those who seemed happy to see all of them. "Bannishtar," said a blonde-haired and blue-eyed centaur with a palomino body and features that even most humans would find attractive, "So, you decided to bring guests. I don't think we've ever had humans amongst the entire heard before. At least not in my days." "They are supposed to be here for punishment, Firenze," said Banni, "but I had a better idea. You know what it is I am here for. These three are for Belleford's and my own assurance. I do not believe I can fail tonight to get the others to see the right course of action." "I...see..." said Firenze, looking over the three humans incredulously, "Well, I do not think they will come to harm, in any case, even if you anger many by bringing them here." "Bannishtar." Banni looked to his left, there stood a great black, bearded centaur. Banni's cousin, Bane. He and Firenze had been leading the heard together since Ronin's death. The both of them, however, tend to disagree on almost everything. Bane is perhaps a bit warlike and distrusting--though not so much as Ronin had been--while Firenze was often more accepting and forgiving. While it is true that last year there was an incident in which violence had been carried out by members of the herd against other members of the herd, their leadership of the herd has remained mostly stable. Firenze and Bane both, however, always seem to be cross with one another. Perhaps because they are both always having to compromise, and so that may be why their leadership has been so successful. The split itself was the aftermath of what Azariah's manipulation had wrought amongst the herd. Many had been lost and confused about what to do next. Others wanted revenge. Though the rift in the herd has been repaired, the scars of what the Knights have done will remain, perhaps forever. "Bane." Banni said, nodding. The two were, more often than not, nothing more than curtly polite to one another. This suited them both just fine. Banni looked out over the congregation of centaurs, all busy setting up barrels of home-made mead and starting fires to prepare the food for the feast. Not far from where the four had entered, an enormous boar was roasting over an open flame. It smelled wonderful. The centaurs that surrounded them now were not the usual hunting party that had often greeted them--often less than hospitably. The entire heard was assembled here. Adult males, females, and foals. Not a single scrap of clothing was worn by any of them, not even the females. Young foals wrestled over by the opposite edge from Banni and the students, watched with pride by their fathers. The women tended to the food or to the little ones. The men had just gotten back from the hunt. "Well," said Banni to the three students, "Make yourselves at home, though I would advise that you stay close. If any of my people approach, treat them with the same respect you would one of your own." Banni thought about that last statement for a moment, and realized what each of them had done to land themselves in detention in the first place. "On second thought, treat them with greater respect." Banni groaned as he set down the heavy barrel. The liquid within sloshed around audibly. "What is that?" asked Firenze. "A gift for the feast," said Banni, "Madame Rosmerta's finest mulled mead. I thought you might like it." |

Fera brushed a spider off her shirt, still listening carefully to what Bannishtar said. Her body was aching slightly, but Fera was far too interested to bother. When her eyes caught the hundreds of centaurs, she scorned herself, had she really been stupid enough to think that there was only the hunting party? Not sure what to do, Fera took a step behind, deciding not to make eye contact. Only when Firenze, Bane and Banni began talking did she dare look closer at what the other centaurs did. The smell of the boar made Fera realize just how hungry she was, she hadn't eaten much more than the bread she got at the hospital wing. Her eyes sparked as she saw the centaur foals wrestling, and she wanted to go over and try herself, although she knew pretty well that she had little to no chance. When Banni talked, directed to them, she grinned, and took a few steps away from the rest, greeting the centaurs with a nod. |
