| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. The Daily Prophet Year Four - End of Term Feast Hogwarts Assaulted! Hoards of Dark Wizards storm the esteemed wizarding school--School to close its doors? by Marcus Starsee Staff, students, school officials, parents and law enforcement agents are still reeling today after last night's attack on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This coming just weeks after the destruction of a lower floor of the Ministry of Magic, The Department of Mysteries (the source of many of the wizarding-Europe's most wild conspiracy theories), the perpetrators of both attacks have since named themselves--and in the case of the the attack on the Ministry--and their motives in a letter sent to Ministry shortly before the attack: Dear acquaintances of the magical assortment: For many, many years… the Wizarding World has lived in peace and harmony, completely unaffected by any sort of damage or terrorism. We have watched for ages; watched the corruption spread through the governmental power of the Ministry of Magic; watched the unfortunate half breeds of the magical community forced into suppression and prohibition, unable to continue their customs or their way of life. We have watched you, we have watched your families, we have watched every. . . move. . . you make. Unfortunately, we have grown irritable of watching the repetitive daily functions of the dear men and women in the Ministry – particularly those of Minister Logan. It is a single, simple, boring Bureaucracy. In light of recent events, we have decided to add a little excitement to your schedules. Somewhere within the parameter, either in a singular location or several, we have planted an enchanted item(s) that will do one of two actions based upon several factors; what those factors are… will need to be discovered and the results are separate. One will destroy yet another department in the Ministry of Magic … and the other will disintegrate a square block of muggle residential areas. We hope that you shall be pleased from the surprises of our nature. We've worked tirelessly for a week to set this up for you all. Have a nice day. ….And remember, We're watching. --The Knights of Walpurgis (The attack on a muggle city that the letter spoke of was in an important center of American muggle politics known as Washington D.C. in the States. The plot was thwarted by individuals whose names have not been released to us [though it is known that these operatives were indeed in the employ of the minister], but recent investigations into the terrorist attack have brought forth significant evidence to conclude that the neutralization of one of the destructive magical devices actually triggered the detonation of the other.) Last night's attack was, as has been reported, not the first time the Knights of Walpurgis have struck. Within the Northern Tower of Hogwarts there was blasted into the wall--presumably by one of the masked and cloaked terrorists that had infiltrated the school--what is presumed to be the mark of their group. It is in the shape of a sword, burned into the stone wall of the tower and glowing red hot, and has done so since the attack. Any attempt to remove the mark has ended with failure, and when the school custodian tried to put a tapestry over the mark, the centuries old piece of art burst into flames and fell to the floor as ashes. The mark remained. Similar symbols have appeared in the vicinity of at least a dozen murders in the past few months preceding the attack (and all of them remain to this day where they were placed, and all of them remain as red-hot as the day they were discovered), and Ministry officials are certain that the Knights are responsible for ever one of them, as well as the attacks on the Ministry and on the school. As for the exact motives of the attacks, none can say. It is presumed the first attack on the Ministry and the preceding murders were an attempt to get The Kinghts of Walpurgis' name out in the general public's knowledge and their message heard. It should be noted, however, that in the attack on Hogwarts, though there were many injuries and much damage to the school itself, there was absolutely no loss of human life --at least on the staff and student side; it has since been reported that most of the staff (and even a few brave and perhaps reckless students) fought back with deadly consequence for a few of their masked and cloaked attackers. "It seemed as though the Knights of Walpurgis did not wish to harm any students or Professors in their attack, and further it seems that their entire operation was centered around causing as much chaos and collateral destruction as possible," commented the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic Alphonse Leon de Ponte du Lac early this morning. Unfortunately, neither the Minister for Magic, nor any school officials or staff of the school could make any significant comment as of this moment. The Minister sites the stress of his situation, and Alphonse--though obviously tired and worn down as this reporter had noted when speaking to the man who seemed to have gone through hell and back since this whole mess with this terrorist organization began--was speaking in the Minister's place. "It seems quite apparent that the terrorist group that has labeled itself 'The Knights of Walpurgis' is primarily concerned with just that: causing chaos and confusion wherever they go. It seems as though they believe that in this way they can grind down both the Ministry, and the public's faith in it," the Senior Undersecretary continued, "They do not seem to have any true plans or strategies, and that they're only reason for entering Hogwarts that night was simply to prove that--through whatever means they had done so--that they could, thereby damaging the public's sense of safety." Well, if that was indeed the goal of this group, then they've certainly succeeded--at least somewhat. Many parents have voiced their concern for their children's safety at the esteemed school of witchcraft and wizardry, and even a few of the members of the school governors board has considered closing the school for next year. However, the Senior Undersecretary has spoken on this matter as well: "Parents and school governors can both be certain that students will be safe at Hogwarts," Mr. Ponte du Lac had to say on the matter, "we are currently working closely with the staff of Hogwarts to increase protection around the school, all so that most important role of our society, the education of young witches and wizards, can continue uninterrupted." Mr. Ponte du Lac further goes to give his assurances: "It should be stated that, despite these recent occurrences, Hogwarts is still very much the safest place in the wizarding world; and if you need any proof, look no further than the actions of Hogwarts' brave staff, as they sprang into action immediately after the terrorists struck, thus thwarting their efforts." The staff and students seem to be taking this to heart, for already it is business as usual for the school as much of the damage has been repaired, and the school will be celebrating its annual end of term feast the night before the students are to return home. Meanwhile, Ministry officials continue to look into the means, motives, and whereabouts of The Knights of Walpurgis, but for now, at least, the students and staff of Hogwarts can revel in yet another successful year at Hogwarts, and look towards yet another year to come. |
