Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

She narrowed her eyes slightly, light always cast a shadow. She could banish the current one, but a new one would always be created. Addie quickly pointed her light at the shadow thing, gazing at Hellius.

"Because you always lose yourself and hurt people who don't deserve it Hellius! What did !Xabbu do except question you? Oppose you with his words? And to retaliate you act out violently, I don't see how that's fair at all, that's why I need to interfere. You are not God."

If we see a man glorifying his race, gender, or creed, we can understand there is nothing about himself that deserves glorification.

"Who are we to say that we are not gods, Addie? We are born as men and women amongst billions of others and we are given this ability! This ability to control and captivate; to destroy or create; to rebuild and imagine! We were born as Wizards, Gods amongst men! But you and I, Addie, are some of the few Witches and Wizards with the ability to control the elements," Hellius preached, slowly diverting his attention between two locations. Beneath Addie, he slowly drew a shadow up over her shoe while building another shape to distract her. "Addie, if we are gods amongst men, then with these powers, we are Gods amongst Gods!"

"You sound ridiculous Hellius! I'm no god, nor are you, and nor do I want to be one. How conceited you are." She commented, narrowing her eyes and focusing on the distraction, focusing her light on the shape.

"Whether wizard or muggle, werewolf or elementium wielder, you're still human. Not a god."

Hellius smirked - hook line and sinker. Releasing his grip on the shadow for a mere moment, the Gryffindor flicked his wand at Addie's lighted tip, yelling, "Nox!"

As the darkness returned, the young man felt some strength return to his body. All the while the light was present as his controlled the shadows, he felt aching spread through his muscles like butter. The warning Professor Tortal gave to him was true - with every use, it would would siphon power from his life.

Frowning, Hellius darted his eyes to the ground and summoned a small strip of shadows, that which was like a rope, yet had the thickness of a pencil. He spun around, sending the shadow flying out towards Addie at an extreme velocity, the edge flying straight for her torso.

Emma stepped onto the grounds, enjoying the pleasantly cold air on her cheeks as she looked around for a moment. Her normally pale cheeks turned pink in the cold and she blinked, tears springing to her eyes as a gust of wind caught her by surprise. Her tears were simply because her wide blue eyes weren't accustomed to the frigid air. It had nothing to do with her emotional state - although it was, admittedly, on the edge. She seemed to be on the tip of an ice berg, holding on only by the very tips of her pale fingers. Emma, however, smiled a very crooked, twisted kind of smirk as she kept her hands in her pockets, her head scanning the grounds as she walked.

I wonder where Hellius is. If he's doing okay. He's probably fine. He's always fine. Suddenly Emma became aware that she was unaware of what was going on around her. She had taken a few steps without realizing it and her unconscious mind had led her feet towards the direction of two figures, blurred in the distance. Emma squinted her wide eyes in an effort to see more clearly, yet it was a voice which she clearly knew which startled her.

"Why must you always interfere?!"

The events which unfolded before Emma's eyes had her resolutely rooted to the ground before her. She watched as clearly there was some sort of struggle between Hellius and Addie, another Gryffindor. "Addie, if we are gods amongst men, then with these powers, we are Gods amongst Gods!" Em's feet wouldn't allow her to move forward. Instead she simply gaped, watching as progressively the situation escalated. Something...strange was happening, something...but Em blinked several times to clear her mind. This can't be happening...

Em's conscious kicked in. Damn it. Addie! Emma rushed forward as Hellius screamed, "Nox!" and the illuminated tip of Addie's light went out. She stopped and gasped as a small strip of...shadows?! were sent in Addie's direction with such a shocking velocity that Emma found herself being very brave to continue briskly running towards Hellius when he was obviously not in the right state of mind.

Emma glanced at Addie in horror and ran behind Hellius, putting a hand on his shoulder. She restrained the urge to shudder involuntarily as soon as her fingertips touched his shoulder. Her grasp was surprisingly tough and strong as she gripped him. "What are you doing?" Emma didn't step back, but kept her hand firmly on his shoulder, her wide blue eyes in shock, her mouth hanging open as she resisted the urge to look at Addie.

Addie gasped, eyes widening in the sudden darkness. Now she was in trouble, she knew that much. Of course he was already acting against her in some way, she knew that much. She had to do something, and quickly. Quickly she moved to the side, hoping to throw him off.

She'd been about to relight her wand when she cried out, something searing across her shoulder. The girl gripped at it quickly, wincing and biting down on her lip. Through the dark she heard another voice; Emma.

Morgan ran towards Tabbitha, smiling as he saw her check the inside of her bag.
''Why hello there. Got the vials?'' Morgan beamed giddily, glancing at her bag, almost hopping from foot to foot with excitement.

''Looking forward to the Quidditch game, then?'' Morgan smiled nervously, glancing at Tabbitha's bag, eager to hear of it's contents.

Tabbitha nodded as she swayed side to side.
"I believe they're both the same." she answered her friend, her face glittered with pride. "But maybe we could test them...just in case?" she asked, gleaming excitedly.
Tabbitha rose an eyebrow at her friend though, wondering if that might be a good idea. She shrugged, staring his shaking body up and down, her eyes almost telling him to calm down.

"Looking forward to the Quidditch game then?" she heard Morgan ask. She nodded as she swooped around to stand next to him and blinked, swinging her arm around his neck. They would make a good pair.

Morgan pushed his hands into his pockets, now growing cold as the night had seemed to come without him noticing.

''Well, Polyjuice potion isn't the most delicious thing in the world to drink, and I hear changing form it's too pleasant either. I for one aren't going to have any need to shapeshift. So.. uhr.. I don't think we really need to test them. Perhaps we can keep the other polyjuice potion for spare? I'm sure we could find use for it if we ever get into trouble.'' Morgan grinned, glancing over the Grounds which were almost invisible in a fine blanket of darkness.

Morgan cocked his head back around to make eye-contact with Tabbitha's excellent green eyes just as the girl swung her arm around his neck.
''You know, Jocelyn will remember the whole thing if the plan goes off without a hitch. You could erase her memory. You could erase a lot of her memory whilst she's in the Broom cupboard so she doesn't go off telling any Professors..''

''Although would it really be revenge if she didn't remember what happened?'' Morgan sighed, a white mist drifting up over his face in the night air.

!Xabbu had no idea what had happened. Just a moment ago he had been walking away calmly from Addison and Hellius, then in an instant it felt as if a snake had risen from the grass and grasped his leg, pulling him down to the ground. Whatever had gotten a hold of the bushman had bound him in place, so that he could not see what was going on as Addison cast two spells, and in an instant he was freed.

!Xabbu spun around and back to his feet--the thing that had gotten him hadn't seem to have injured him physically--just in time to see...darkness?...yes, darkness was the only description !Xabbu could muster for the thing that now wrapped itself around Addison, binding her. !Xabbu stepped back in horror, for he had not seen nor heard of such a spell as to bend the very shadows. Looking to Hellius, and then to the black form he had conjured to bind Addison, a great prickling fear ran throughout him. There was a strange glint in Hellius's eyes; an expression more of that of an animal that was proud, confident, ultimate unafraid; the kind of killer one had to prove oneself capable of besting before it would acknowledge one as a threat.

An admittedly superstitious, yet altogether terrible thought crept into !Xabbu's mind: Hyena. Great Grandfather Mantis, he is not human! Even as he the idea entered his thoughts, it sounded ridiculous, but !Xabbu did believe in gods and in demons of his people, and there was nothing godly in what Hellius was doing.

A quick mental prayer was all the preparation !Xabbu gave himself before he drew his wand, and just in time, for a what seemed to be a long, black whip was flung towards Addison by Hellius; at thread of shadow, a whip of darkness. !Xabbu had only minutes to think. What spell could combat darkness? Was there not a spell that Professor Stuart had begun to teach them? Ah, yes, that's it.

!Xabbu had never used the spell, and he was not fully learned in the theory, but there was no time for mental preparation of any kind--all his decision making had been done in a split second--and the bushman summoned a quick mental image of himself back home on the Okavango Delta, being taught by his mother the story of how Hare had gotten his lip split, and how to perform the story using string figures. It was a very happy and cherished memory of !Xabbu's; perfect for fighting the darkness.

Lifting his wand, !Xabbu shouted, "Expecto Patronum!" a large plume of silver smoke erupted from his wand, casting a silvery light on the surroundings, (the light felt warm and good) and flew towards Addison's helpless form. He was, however, moments too late, and it seems his spell was not strong enough, for the shadow had struck Addie, and !Xabbu's patronus charm had merely been able to deflect the whip of darkness from going deeper into her, or getting closer to a vital organ. The what had, knocked off course by !Xabbu's spell, cut through her shoulder, still, the girl cried out. She must have been in much pain.

!Xabbu was about to cast a spell to immobilize Hellius, when a female voice shrieked, "What are you doing?" !Xabbu stopped to see a blonde-haired girl standing, grasping Hellius's shoulders. !Xabbu stood, unable to decide if he should take advantage of the situation or not. !Xabbu was sure Hellius would turn on this girl, but was afraid to do anything for fear he might use her as a shield.

Hellius ignored Emma's touch; feeling it, but choosing not to acknowledge it. Instead, however, the shadow whip was still viable and loosely swinging around back to its controller. Knowing it was coming, he ducked and sorely frowned when it flew right over his head at a speed which blew his hair sideways.

Pulling away from Emma's grip by throwing his right elbow back at deadly speeds, Hellius stumbled, tipping over so his free hand was pushing off the ground as an extra leg. He wasn't sure who it was that stopped him, but to make they didn't do it again, Hellius threw his left arm under him and placed himself so he was sitting on the ground. Without hesitation or any sort of examination of who placed themselves outside of their calling, he flicked his wand. "Reducto!" He yelled.

Tucking his hands into his chest, Hellius rolled backwards and planted himself onto his feet. He didn't look at who he just cast his spell at, as he assumed that it was someone such as Natalie or Ella, who were friends with Addie. Just as he turned his head to look back at Addie, he had noted that a silvery smoke had engulfed the area around him, disengaging the darkness. It was almost now as if they were inside a tunnel-like room with the smoke being the walls which enclosed them. Their bodies were completely visible, but everything beyond the tips of their heads were shadowed.

Slowly turning to face them, Hellius dropped his wand to his side, awaiting their next move.

Emma tried to keep a firm grip on Hellius as whisps of cloudy white smoke seemed to drift and appear by Addie's side, yet from the yells of pain Em knew it wasn't enough. She closed her eyes and her brow furrowed, her breathing rapid and anxiety gripping her firmly. Her nails dug into Hellius' shoulder as she struggled to stop him...to no avail.

Emma felt a sudden pain in her torso which caused her to cry out - Hellius had jabbed her to squirm from her grip. Em's expression was something mixed between mangled fear and shocked anger. Her hands scrambled to grasp her wand and the wood felt secure in her hand. She breathed a sigh of relief, looking up suddenly to perhaps try and stun Hellius, just to protect him from himself - There was no telling what would happen -

"Reducto!"

Emma felt herself crumble to the ground, her legs falling out from underneath her as she was blasted backwards, barely able to stop herself from being dragged by some sort of unknown force. The back of Em's head slammed into the ground and momentarily Em didn't know where she was. She didn't feel, she only breathed unevenly, motionless. She inhaled and exhaled but was unaware of it - she was unaware of anything except for the anger that was slowly rising inside of Emma like an ember. It was breathing life into her and motivating her. Get up. Get up.

The embers grew into a fire. Emma's eyes shot open and she lifted herself from the ground, her hair shining platinum in the cold darkness of the night and her eyes wide with a fierce, unwonted and uncontrolled venemous fury. She grabbed her wand and looked to the Gryffindor boy - she wasn't sure of what to do, but she knew one thing.

That hurt, bitch.

The shadows around the teens were nearly tangible. She felt confined in the space by the shadows enveloping them and felt a breeze against her back as a caress. She looked behind her suspiciously and then her wide blue eyes which were gleaming weakly stared straight ahead.

Oh, my God. Tinsley was right. Tinsley was right along. He'd attack me just like he'd attack her, and just like he attacked Violetta. Em laughed mirthlessly into the cold air, and caught !Xabbu's eyes. Emma felt something warm drip down the back of her neck and lifted her hand to the back of her head, where she had slammed it onto the ground when Hellius had cursed her. Pulling her hand away from the back of her head, Emma's hand was covered in her own blood. She lifted up her hand and wiped it on the front of her jeans, ignoring the flow of blood. Her wand was firmly in her hand, and yet Emma would not react quite yet.

She looked from !Xabbu to Hellius, from Hellius to !Xabbu and finally found her voice. "I must have been blind to ever trust you." Em licked her lips, her voice calm and almost bored, yet her eyes sparkling as though she was harboring some sort of secret -

"Expelliarmus," said Emma, her wand aimed directly at Hellius and the hand which still had hold of his wand.

His eyes trailed back to Emma as she spoke, Hellius' mind acknowledging her for the first time since her exertion. His mind was blank on her in particular, both because at that moment in time, he neither cared nor thought about the consequences of his actions on this particular night. He had submitted to his primal ability and all at once he felt as if he wasn't Hellius Surla.

The boy's eyes showed nothing but pure hunger and amusement. As Emma raised her wand at him, he returned the quirk, waving it upwards. "Protego, he stated simply. A saffron shield shot up around him and bounced Emma's Expelliarmus spell out towards the forest. Within seconds, the shield went back down and Hellius raised his wand towards her head. "Unfortunately now, we're at an impasse. I am who I am."

His sadistic grin faded from his face and he flicked his wand. "Iacio."

Before he could decide if he was going to help Addie escape or fight back, !Xabbu saw the blonde being hit by a destruction curse. Something was certainly odd about Hellius's countenance. Something altogether alien seethed beneath the form of a teenage boy, visible only through his eyes--the eyes of a predator. Cursing his indecision, !Xabbu let out an audible growl as he tackled Hellius, bringing the other Gryffindor boy to the ground, though once again he was too late: the blonde girl had been hit by another of Hellius's spells.

Her spell was deflected simply by Hellius as if it were nothing. Emma narrowed her vibrant blue eyes, her light hair sparkling in the crushing darkness in which Em could hardly see through. She had her eyes focused on Hellius and that was all she could see. The one person in which she had felt so...connected to. So...comfortable with. And now, all of that was a mere memory which had been shattered in a split second.

Less than that, even. Emma laughed under her breath as he began to speak again. Tinsley was right. Tinsley Carmicheal was looking out for me...and Hellius was. Now who do I trust? Yet Emma's thoughts were broken by Hellius' voice, which sent chills down Em's spine.

Or maybe that was just the small trickle of blood which had now made its way halfway down her back. "Unfortunately now, we're at an impasse. I am who I am."

His sadistic grin faded from his face and he flicked his wand. "Iacio." Emma screamed, yet she could only let out a mere yelp before she felt herself fly backwards. The scenes around her blurred and she sped. Where she was headed, she didn't know. She only knew that she had no control over herself and tears sprang to her eyes not because of the traumatic experience but because of the wind which was slapping her face.

Crack. Emma stopped. Now, she was sure it was all over. Her pale cheek lay in the grass, wet with dew, stinging her cheeks. Em's eyes were shut and her body wasn't moving. She had moved a considerable distance and now lay in a tight ball. She had smacked face first into tree. For the first time in Em's life she could hardly care less what became of her. Emma had nothing, and was no one in those moments. Her mind was blank. Later when she would reflect upon the memory, she wouldn't even be sure if she had breathed for those moments she lay in a destroyed ball at the base of the large oak tree.

Emma lay there, motionless. No thought. No life. Nothing.

Shapes swirled before her. Her surroundings were mere blocks of color. She rolled over on her back, her breathing slow and ragged. She closed her eyes, for her head was spinning. Pain washed over her body and her eyes blinked several times while things tried to focus. Em tried to move - and she couldn't. She let out a terrified gasp, and then heard some sort of confrontation behind her.

!Xabbu.... Em closed her eyes. Play dead. Play dead, and he won't hurt you again. A tear escaped the side of her tightly closed eye and ran down her cheek, mixing with dirt and a bit of splattered blood. Another tear followed that one, and she bit her lip. Play dead.

All that's left to do is wait.

Within a few seconds, Hellius found himself hitting the ground from an outer force tackling him. His shoulder collided first, sending waves of pain through his body. At first he wasn't sure what to think - he just laid there, still and awaiting. He wanted to react after regaining his composure, but no movement made its way out. There was a siren call in the back of his mind and it steadily grew louder in his ears.

There were slight twitches in his arms and his eyes drifted into the back of his head. His eyes were pure white with significant signs of bloodshot. They danced back and forth, as if the boy was having a seizure, but after several moments, his eyes darted back to their regular position, only now colored a deep, dark shade of red. The bloodshot white of his eyes changed to a complete opposite. Now, they were an eerie black.

"Heh, heh, heh, heh, heh.... hehehehe... ha, ha, ha...." his voice cackled. The tone of his voice sounded deep and so much unlike his regular key. It was a mere reflection of his own voice; it could be heard amongst the overshadow. "You have... no idea... what you've divulged yourself into, boy."

The shadows peeling off from the two Gryffindors from the bright, blue light ripped off the ground and started to waver back and forth like tentacles. They increased in speed, and were about to strike down, but before anything could happen, a yellow light struck Hellius' corpse and everything stopped. The shadows fell back to their rightful places and he sat, unmoving, unconscious.

Jacob stood, nearly 20 meters away, with his wand still held up and little magical streams still floating off from the tip. It had seemed that the Head Auror had entered Hogwarts at the appropriate time, as it seemed that even despite Georgia Surla's deepest efforts to outroot the maniacle being that lived within his younger cousin proved useless. Letting his face sink back to a blank position, Jacob holstered his wand and started to walk -almost hover- over to the blue mist. Arriving there within a half a minute, he started to bark orders at the students.

"Miss, I know that your arm is probably aching now, but please, go assist the girl that was flung against the tree! She needs more attention than your arm, I'm sure," Jacob commanded. He turned to the two Gryffindors still on the ground. Grabbing the African boy by the back of his collar, he lifted him off the ground and set him upright, standing up. "I thank you for helping to stop him, boy. Run off now before he wakes up. I'll deal with him."

Flipping his hair out of his face, Jacob looked down at his pitiful cousin and his pale skin.

The idiot was using shadow controlling... Goddamn it.

Constanta stood by helpless as her classmates began to fight one another; she didn't know what she could do that would help anything, as Hellius obviously had no scruples about using his elemental power as well as Dark Magic. If she interfered, she could well be hurt as badly as some of the rest of them. Still, she drew her wand in case she could help in any remote way.

Suddenly Emma was in the way and before Stanta had time to react the Ravenclaw was lying still on the ground. And then Hellius was convulsing, eyes rolling back in his head, surrounded by shadows and smoke. Stanta's eyes widened in horror, not sure if he was dead or unconscious or something beyond that altogether.

"What the hell is going on?" she screamed, not sure if she was asking Hellius or the Ministry Official or the heavens themselves.

ooc|| Ugh, you would bring Jacob in before I retaliate. >.<;

The girl had dropped her wand at the attack, otherwise she would have responded so swiftly Hellius wouldn't have had a shot in the dark; quite literally at that. Finally snatching up her wand she stumbled to her feet, head spinning for a moment, arm drenched in blood.

It hurts... But, there are more important things.. She thought with a wince. She'd been about to cast a spell, and nothing light related at that, Hellius had to be stopped. But everything happened at once. Emma was hit, twice, !Xabbu tackled him, and suddenly a ministry official was there.

"Emma!" Addie set off at a sprint, or as close as she could get; one arm dangling useless at her side, the other holding it. She dropped to her knees beside the girl, lighting her wand quickly to see her better.

"It's okay Emma, it's over, it's okay. Now tell me exactly where it hurts." She commented in a soothing voice, resting a light hand on her shoulder.

I can't move her until I know what's wrong, in case it's serious... The girl thought with a frown.

She bristled, remembering the aurors words, glancing back to him, eyes burning. "Do you honestly think I would but myself before someone who needed my attention so much more?!" She scowled, indignantly at the man before continuing, loud enough for them all to hear. "I know it's difficult... But try not to blame Hellius too much... He... He wasn't himself just now." She commented, after all, she knew all about the demon hidden away inside him.

Emma heard distant, assuring voices but stayed silent. Her weak flow of tears had stopped a few minutes prior and Em had simply stayed motionless on the ground, shivering in the cold air. "What the hell is going on?" Emma's eyes shot open. It was a familiar voice she heard.

But that wasn't the only thing Em heard. Surrounding her was chaos, and Em still lay motionless beneath the tree, trying to ignore the shooting pains she was feeling across her body. Oh, my God. Quidditch. No. Tristan's going to kill me. Emma squeezed her eyes shut again. How could this even happen?

"Emma!" Emma realized that someone must have realized she wasn't moving by now. Em tried to inhale, yet her sides hurt so severely it was quite the challange. Drawing a shaky breath, Emma heard a familiar, soothing voice. The speaker was a sweet presence and something about it instantly comforted Emma, who was now lying on her back with her eyes closed resolutely. "It's okay Emma, it's over, it's okay. Now tell me exactly where it hurts."

Addie. Emma's eyes fluttered open as a light hand was placed on Em's shoulder. Em blinked as the blocks and shapes around her focused and revealed an actual setting...the Grounds. Em bit her lip and didn't say anything right away. "Do you honestly think I would but myself before someone who needed my attention so much more?!...I know it's difficult... But try not to blame Hellius too much... He... He wasn't himself just now."

She blinked and looked at Addie. No tears filled her eyes this time...it seemed she had cried herself dry. Still, pain surged through her small frame and Em winced, still biting her lip. "W-We..." She looked up at Addie with her wide blue eyes desperate. "I was just trying to help. Everyone was right about him."

Emma coughed suddenly and yelped softly, closing her eyes. She tried to sit up - visibly struggling she lifted her torso. The back of her head was clumped with knotted hair, blood, and twigs. Emma blinked, placing a tender hand on the back of her head. "I-I'm beat up, b-but I don't think its...its too bad," She leaned forward and grabbed her ankle. "Ow - I-I think I b-broke it," Em said, wincing. She had slammed into the tree with the front of her body exposed so several bruises were slowly appearing on her chest, as well as a purple mark which was now forming across Em's forehead. Her head was throbbing.
