Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice
Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

The late Minister for Magic

OOC: Rights to Julian Smith, belong to Clifton Smith (his "son") and permission has been given to "god-mode" the character for the sake of this thread and for these purposes.

The Minister entered the Press conference with Julian Smith

The Minister stepped behing the specially placed podium with the ministry symbol on it.

"I've come to addresss the public in regards to the latest legislation and to assure the wizarding community that the ministry has things under control. Here I have with me Julian Smith, famous seeker, to also give you his assurance that the ministry is keeping the wizarding community safe. So firstly, Julian is going to step up and say a few words" Hugh stepped down smiling broadly.

"Well, I've recently talked to the minister about recent security concerns. Like many of you out there I was worried by the apparent lack of the security and the strange happenings. The minister invited me to come and talk about my concerns to him in the Ministry of Magic, I was shown around the office and given an look into the workings of the ministry. I am completely sure that the ministry is both looking out for the interests of the wizarding community with these legislation and that we will all be able to sleep easier at nights knowing that our streets are safe thanks to the many hard working peole at the ministry of magic" Julian finished his little monolouge and tucked the cards back into his pocket before anyone could notice that he had cards in the first place.

Julian smiled and flashed his Coalition badge.

"Minister, I have a question" Charlie Johnson, noted Editor of the Daily Prophet stood up in the middle of the reporters.

"I believe you are extending the powers of the aurors as a part of on going investigations. Does that mean that there are people on the loose that are threats to the wizarding community that haven't been caught yet? And will these new powers also apply to the auror working within Hogwarts who is also said to have the power to arrest without first giving reasons for the arrest to either the head mistress or the person being arrested?" Charlie said, he was very proud. The first question was his, the second was on the brilliant work of Miss Sparks. Her investigative reporting was bringing up gold.

The late Minister for Magic

Hugh's expression soured a little when he saw Charlie Johnson stand up. However, when he saw that Julian Smith was standing next to him, his face retained the same smile.

"Okay, one part at a time, in answer to your first question. The wizarding community continually has one or two bad eggs that seem to spoil peoples days. I am serious on cracking down on these people. Certain things have happened but arrests will be made and I promise to clean up the streets. My main concern is for the safety of the wizarding community"

"And second the second part. Yes, I will be having an Auror based at Hogwarts, this comes on high quality information. I believe that Hogwarts has been left unsecure. These are not retrospective measures. If something had happened I would like to think that our highly regarded news papers such as your own, Mister Johnson, would have reported on them. These are just in case measures. Just because nothing has happened it does not pay to not keep sharp, and the safety of the students at that school, with or without a imminent thread is a high priority for myself and the members of the staff" The minister finished nicely.

"Any other questions? To myself or to Julian" Hugh smiled, he got a lot of pleasure out of reminding the reporters who was standing next to him supporting his side.

If we see a man glorifying his race, gender, or creed, we can understand there is nothing about himself that deserves glorification.

OOC: Taking the position of Georgia Surla; head of the Surla family. I hope that you won't mind me taking a part in this.

BIC:

Georgia waited quietly, intermingled in the crowd of reporters and other assortments of curious gossip-mongers. She was always in attendance of gatherings concerning the ministry due to her old loyalty to the government. Because of her age, she was forced to retire from working at the Department of Mysteries, but not before discovering countless things from her time as an Unspeakable.

As the Minister called for more questions, Georgia asserted herself. Though she was loyal to the Ministry, her concern for their ability to govern was becoming more questionable.

"I cannot help but to be particularly questionable of the Ministry's competence, Mr. Logan," Georgia spoke feverishly, her voice quiet yet demanding. "With the destruction of the Auror's Department and all, how can we trust the ability of the ministry to rule when even they aren't capable of stopping terrorist threats?"

Alphonse stepped forward to the podium.

"Allow me to answer that, Madame Surla," he said in his most congenial tone, "And may I congratulate you on your grandson's recently obtained position as Head of the Auror Office." A charming smile played upon his face. This is why he held this position.

"The Ministry of Magic has taken steps to make sure that such an event never happens again. Right now, we are holding elections to replace many key members of the Wizengamot, and of the Ministry whom we feel have not done their jobs properly, resulting in this fiasco. Many newcomers, such as my father, Anton de Ponte du Lac are up for election this year." There was a great deal of applause from many, "Thank you," Alphonse said, signaling for them to quiet.

"Now, we feel as though the new politicians and statesmen being added to our ranks will give us the necessary ability and know-how to combat any threat. I assure you that you are in no danger from any mad murdering vigilantes wearing masks." A bit of laughter from the assembled press followed this statement, Alphonse had to hide a smirk. None of them knew yet of the Knights and their goal.

"So that's that on that question," he said finally, looking towards Belladonna, "Unless Madame Quagmire has anything to add?"

Belladonna had been standing in the background, but stepped forward.

She stood a few paces behind Hugh as he tried his best to answer the questions of the reporters. Her conservative grey skirt ending at her knees, with the matching jacked landing just above her hips. Her face was perfect, as usual, and her long hair was swept over one shoulder. Donna wore her Coalition button proudly, pinned to her grey cloak.

The autumn air blew across her features, and she relaxed her face slightly, a rarity, given her usually rigid exterior. She listened as a woman stood to question the competence of the Ministry.

Then she heard Alphonse say her name to the public. She shot Alphonse a quick and subtle look for his extremely vague reference to the Knights. When the crowd laughed something in her relaxed. She plastered a charming smile upon her features and opened her mouth to speak, making eye contact with the crowd.

"Friends, by making the right choice this election season, we can ensure that the violence plaguing our streets is snuffed out. We need officials who will protect us, our children at Hogwarts, and the common ideals that we all stand for. We need strong leaders in our offices, and the support of the people to ensure a better future. So I urge you all to think of the future on Election Day. Thank you."

She closed her mouth, looking out at the audience. She smiled, clasping her hands in front of her, putting forth all the fake sincerity she could muster.
