| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Okay, so the house cup race has been pretty stagnant lately, and it just seems like there aren't many ways to gain house points except for answering questions, and that has proven a bit of a one-sided contest. That being said, I would like to propose that each professor not only start taking attendance and give 5 points to any student character that posts as being in class, and participates in the class activities in some way or another (they can't just post once and get points). I would also like to suggest that each Professor find other ways of offering house points to students. For instance, I, as Banni, created an essay assignment (Note: That's still open, btw) that would net each student who completed it 30pts minimum. I plan on doing more. I suggest that the other Professors find other ways to make the house cup more interesting. Another aspect of the house cup is, of course, deductions of house points. We see lots of major rule breaking (oddly enough, right in front of teachers) that warrants not even a single deduction, let alone a detention. I think the Profs. should really crack down a bit harder and start acting like Profs. In addition to this, house points will also be awarded at the end of quidditch games. We're not really sure how we're going to go about this, but it seems like a good idea as any to keep the House Cup from being so stagnant. That being said, I would like to remind all Professors to please post your house point awards and deductions for the day in the House Points Tracking Thread, please, it helps limit the confusion. Thank you and have a great day, --Ian de Ponte du Lac |

Ideas Gain points -Help out a teacher -Answer a question correctly -Show that you have paid attention to class -Complete all assignments -Be active in class, ask questions. -Attend to class. New gain points ideas: - Why not give points for original ideas that are natural to happen in a classroom, which have postive effects. (The negative effects would probably end in a dectuction, and its much harder anyway, to get positive, not negative effects.) - Or orginal ideas generally. - Creating great topics, which are easy to reply to. - Show that you've read the other posts, be detailed. Gain points. (stolen abit from the quidditch system, :P) Detuct Points - Mischeif - Rude answers - Ignoring the teacher - Talking alot and loud - Hissing up to battle New detuct points ideas: -Why not have a teacher patroll the School when there's class, to find people who snuck away. (Of course not a teacher who's teaching) I hope these might help. |

I'd like to bring this thread back to people's attentions, so that we can avoid the house cup race being so stagnant in the future. |

I'd hoped we could start adding some points before we start taking them away, but OK! |

Yaaarg. The House Cup is still stagnant, points don't seem to be gained fast enough, and its still one-sided in Ravenclaw's favor. Fix this. |
