Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

"Now I've got an assignment for you," Banni paused for the groans, "Now I want you to choose an archetype from the ones we've discussed and write a foot on anything you can find about it, such as what it means as where it has been seen. It isn't that hard and you'll have multiple days to do it. So, with that said you may get started now, and talk amongst yourselves quietly until the bell rings."

((OOC: This assignment is worth 30 points. Make sure they are at least 3 paragraphs. Please PM your finished assignment to me for grading. Once you've chosen an archetype to write about, you may use any source you wish: books, the internet, ect. This was originally posted for the Hufflepuffs and Slytherins, but Ravenclaws and Gryffindors you may act as though this class had been held for you as well. If you don't do this assignment, that is fine, but you won't get points for it. You can find the list of archetypes here in the Divination Lore thread: http://z8.invisionfree.com/Hogwarts_RP_Boa...p?showtopic=962))

The list of Archetypes covered in my class is as follows:
* Phi
* Twelve Around One
* Merkabah
* Caduceus (or Kerykeion)
* Pendulum (or Synchronicity Wheel)
* Ouroboros

This essay is worth a minimum of 30 house points.

Alright so a little more information:

You may do one essay for each student character you have. I'm not putting any limitations on this, as you are only limited by how many of them you wish to write. That being said, I want see that you've actually done a bit of work (not much, this shouldn't be a huge hassle, mind you. Just a little internet research, or in the case of Fera, Norse Mythology.)

That being said, I'll be posting the articles you write here, so here's Fera's excellent article that should serve as a model for the others:

(Note you don't have to make it like she did with the writing on the parchment. You can just type it up and PM it to me. However, Fera has gone the extra mile, and therefore receives extra points)

This is Constanta Lupei's Essay on the Anima and Animus:

Constanta Lupei

The Anima and Animus

The anima and the animus represent the subconscious expression and identity, which is the opposite of one's biological sex and identifying gender. For instance, in a man's subconscious is the anima, a female presence that is like a deeper personality. Adversely, in a woman's unconscious mind lies the animus, the male personality. This concept may also be described as a man's buried feminine nature, or vice versa.

The anima in a man's mind may influence his choices in romance; the anima often takes the form of the man's mother, combined with other females who have had a significant effect on him. The anima affects his decisions dealing with women and his interactions with them. It has four known levels; the first is Eve, which focuses on the male's desires and categorises women as inferior and malevolent, which is consistent with the once-popular Christian belief that women created original sin through Eve. The second stage is Helen, which refers to the infamous Helen of Troy. It represents a woman's capability of succeeding in the world on multiple talents, but without innocence or integrity. The third is Mary, alluding to the Virgin Mary. It symbolises a woman having virtue and goodness; it is the opposite of Helen. The last stage is Sophia, from the Greek word meaning wisdom. In this phase, the woman is seen as an equal being with flaws and strengths, a thinking, sentient creature.

The animus of a woman's mind does not mirror the stages of development of the anima. It is apparently far more complicated than the anima, with a supposed multitude of male images as opposed to the one image of the anima. Like the anima, however, the animus has four stages of development, though they are less detailed than those of the anima. The first, named the athlete, personifies physical prowess. The second, the planner, is a picture of independence and leadership. Third, the professor, is the embodiment of a teacher and helper. And lastly, the guide, which is the equivalent of the Sophia stage.

It is this student's impression that the anima and animus are, at times, more dominant than Carl Jung has described. Though he asserted that they are both unconscious and somewhat conscious, this student believes that the anima or animus in one's mind may influence an individual's feeling that they are in the wrong biological body, i.e. being transgendered or genderqueer.
