Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Mac entered the classroom

Mac entered the empty class room. How long had it been since he last stepped foot in here. Away from the troubles of his illness. How long had it been since before all the trouble had begun. It was four years ago. When the fourth years he was about to take had just started their first year of school. So much had changed, he was about to teach the students the banishing charm.

Mac began writing notes on the board

Depulso

This is the incantation for the banishing spell. We will start practicing to banish pillows. You will aim to banish your pillows into the wick baskets at the front of the room. You flick your wand towards the object and say "Depulso", if the desired effect occurs the object should smoothly glide to where you want the object banished to. If the spell is done incorrectly the object can fly out of control or you may hit the wrong object. The heavier the object the harder it is. If you succeed in banishing your pillow five times you may move onto banishing these big heavy books. These books will require more concentration.

Now a few questions.

What is the counter charm to this?
What else can be said to help increase the effectiveness of this spell?
Name 3 uses this spell may serve.

House points to correct answers.

Mac looked up at the board, sitting down at his desk he waited for the surprise on his students faces when they saw him taking the class again. Mac rested his cane across his lap and sat in his usual position behind his desk, leaning back and with his feet on the desk.

OOC: If you come in, read the notes off the board. Once the class is settled and if I am not here Mac will begin to walk around the class. Regardless of whether I post it or not. Just in case I cannot get on when everyone is here. I start work tomorrow so my time will be cut down a bit.

John entered the class

John walked in and found Mac. "Hey" John said, half surprised to see his favorite professor back behind his desk after a two years abscence from the position. Charms was one of John's three best subjects. He even scored top marks in his first year at Hogwarts, beating out both Tristan and Riley. Since then they have closed the gap but John usually has a slight edge over them from time to time.

John was really looking forward to Charms after yesterday's Transfiguration he realized he could do non-verbal spells. Something that John had read up on. He was hoping that he would be able to use it in his Charms class as well. Potentially winning some much needed house points for Gryffindor.

John sat down at a desk and copied the notes off the board, taking in every word that was there. He grabbed the cushion and looked at it. "C'mon, you can do this, just focus. Forget about everything else that's happened" John thought. He needed to push the whole thing with Aubrey and Summer to the side and to concentrate on Charms

Summer entered the classroom, glad to be in a class she was actually good at. In fact, Charms was Summer's best subject and probably one of the only subjects she fairly enjoyed. Summer was surprised, but glad to see that the professor was back and ready to teach another year. She beamed at him, but her smile slipped off her face like ketchup dripping from a bottle when she saw that the only other person in the room was John. Summer gulped, forced a smile upon her face and then waved at John before taking a seat near the middle of the class.

Summer skimmed over the board and smiled at the word "banishing." She tried to concentrate on the pillow in front of her, but her eyes kept wandering towards John. Summer gripped her wand tighter and imagined the pillow smoothly gliding into one of the wick baskets. Summer shut her eyes and slowly drowned all thoughts of the other Gryffindor currently sitting near her. She opened her eyes, flicked her wand and muttered, "Depulso." To her disappointment, the pillow only fluttered and did not move. Summer sighed and thought to herself, You have to concentrate. Forget about everything else. Just focus on the spell.

John was about to perform the charm when Summer walked in the room. John watched Summer. "Forget about her" John thought to himself. He refused to look at her and in doing so missed her wave. He placed his pillow in front of him. Clearing his mind he flicked his wand at the pillow. "Depulso" John said. The pillow didn't float to the wick basket. The pillow built up speed and crashed into the wall with a thud.

"Dammit" John mumbled audibly, without looking up or at Summer at all he went to pick up his pillow and try again.

John saw the questions on the board and raised his hand. He decided that he should just give his mind time to relax. Don't do something that requires overly amount of concentration then try again later.

Mac watched as two eager Gryffindor's entered his class room. One of whom was Mr Holland, an eager Charms student who applied himself hard though his attempts at other subjects was something to be desired for. Instead he was off chasing girls instead of being in potions. Mac remembered catching John out on the grounds when he was supposed to be in Potions.

Then there was Miss Nielson, she often enjoyed Charms he had been given reports of the students to mull over during his illness that he finally got around to reading recently. They seemed perfect partners for charms work.

"Yes Mister Holland, what is it" Mac said seeing the boy with his hand in the air.

"I just wanted to answer the questions on the board. The counter to Depulso is Accio the Summoning Charm. If Depulso is anything like Accio it's that naming the object helps increase the likelyness of actually banishing or summoning that object rather then missing it. For instance if I summoned something, I could potentially miss the object, however if I name the object then it is more likely to come" John said.

The answer to the second question gave John a thought, maybe he could use the name of the object to increase the efficiency of his concentration and use it to banish his pillow.

John set up his pillow and tried to clear his mind. "Depulso Pillow" John said as he watched the pillow float across the room and land safely in the wick basket. Pumping his fist in the air for completing a non-verbal spell twice correcty and completely John was very happy with his lesson. Despite being in the class with just Summer, and the professor.

"Very good Mr Holland, those are certainly the answers to the first two questions. I'll give you three points for each of your correct answers" Mac said, awarding 6 points to Gryffindor house.

Mac watched the boy concentrate and focus. Mac watched the boys wand flick, without incantation the pillow floated over to the basket and landed inside. Mac stared incredulously from the wick basket to the boy and back again.

Did Mac see that correctly? Had the boy performed a non-verbal spell? Did he realize what he just did?

Mac watched the boy congratulate himself. "Very impressive Mr Holland, take another oh, 5 points. Very well done. Have you been able to do that before?" Mac asked.

Precious strolled into the classroom, she looked around for a few moments, and noticed the Gryffindor she had encountered earlier. (Summer) Yes, the cheery one. Precious took a deep breath and smiled and strutted over to her desk.
"You got lucky, you mudblood, but don't expect for your little friend to be at your defense at all times. Next time, dear, it'll be just you and me." she hissed, and walked to the back of the class, taking a seat. She glanced up at the bored, and slumped into her chair-Charms wasn't her favorite-at all. She stared up at the ceiling, wishing that Genesis, or Tinsely, or even Mike would come ina nd take her out of her bordem.

John answered truthfully to Mac, "Yeah, I found I could do it in Transfiguration with Nate, I turned an Apple into an Orange and back. Non-Verbal spells. I've been reading about it" John said and watched Mac stroll away.

John eyed Precious as she entered the room. He watched as she went behind Summer, John leaned in and heard Precious whispering threats towards Summer. John pointed his wand at Precious, "Don't you dare threaten her. You better watch your mouth or someone might just curse it off your face for you" John hissed back, threatening the pink haired Precious. John did not appreciate people calling others mud bloods, he himself was a family of muggles. Secondly, he didn't like people threatening Summer.

Summer bit her lip in concentration and tried the spell once again. John didn't even look at her once, which hurt Summer even more. She disappointingly looked back down at her pillow, but still couldn't focus on it. No matter how much she tried, her eyes kept wandering back to John on the other side of the classroom. Summer witnessed him cast the non-verbal spell and her mouth hung open in awe. She couldn't help but smile at his happiness. "Wow John," she said to him with a smile, but there was the tiniest hint of hurt in her voice.

Summer was startled when an unfortunately familiar voice spoke to her from behind her. She jumped in her seat but settled down when she realized that it was only the Slytherin girl she had met in the Owlery. Nevertheless, she gripped her wand tightly at the sight. "You don't scare me, Pinky. Your threats are just meaningless words." Summer jumped once again when John's voice came up behind her. She turned around and saw that his wand was pointed at Precious. "Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to try this incantation again," Summer replied, turning her back to Precious. She tried to concentrate on the pillow, but it was no use. Not now that she both John's and Precious' words buzzing around in her head.

John heard Summer congratulate him. He had an idea. Taking some parchment he took out a quill and wrote.

Did you mean what you said in the student lounge? Are we just friends?

John paused. Placing the paper on his desk he mumbled "Depulso" and the paper floated towards Summer.

Precious laughed an evil laugh as John tired to threaten her. She sat up straight again.
"Curse me, and I'll curse your ass into next week." Precious said. She then glared at Summer.
"And don't you f_ck with me, dear, or your pretty face will be in the Hospital Wing before you know it." Precious hissed. She then began to giggle, and thought:
What would Tinsely do in this situation? And then cackled as she pictured the image in her head.

John moved seats to be next to Summer. "If anything happens to her I swear to god I'll get revenge on you. You have no idea how bad I will make your time here. You will wish you never stepped across me" John said. He wasn't sure how much of his threats he could back up but after James and Julian and Co, this girl looked like a push over.

Summer only rolled her eyes as Precious threatened her once again, but didn't say anything. What was the point? She didn't want to be responsible for anything that could happen and she didn't want John to get in trouble either. So instead, Summer focused on the pillow once again, but was immediately distracted when a piece of parchment glided onto her desk. She hastily read it and then looked over towards John. Summer gulped and hesitated. Just then, John changed seats and sat down next to her. She looked down at the parchment and then back at John. The tingling sensation from the last night had returned to the pit of her stomach.

"John, don't do anything. She's not worth the trouble you'll get yourself into," Summer mumbled to him, but still didn't dare look at him. Her mind was still on the piece of parchment in front of her. "And about what happened in the student lounge...well...I mean, I said we were just friends, but isn't that what you wanted to hear?" Summer asked him, looking down at her desk. Part of her was dying to hear his answer, but the other part feared that it wouldn't be the one she wanted.

Ella walked into the Charms room, curiously looking around to see who was teaching. Just like in potions, Hogwarts seemed unable to keep a Charms professor for more than a few days. In fact, she didn't even think they had had the same professor two lessons in a row since-

She stopped in her tracks, blinking in surprise. Professor McDonald, whom she hadn't seen since their first year, was apparently back. Smiling at him, Ella sat down and began to read the board, taking out her wand as she did so.

She glanced over at the others in the room-John, Summer, and Precious were obviously fighting about something, although she could only hear a word here and there. Ella sighed and shook her head-some things never changed, and the almost instinctive rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor was one of them.

"Well, I don't know. I guess with Aubrey, it's a little confusing. I don't know what I wanted to hear. It hurt though. I don't know why. Maybe I should be with you and not Aubrey. Maybe this is just a mistake. I don't want it to go away without knowing. I'm just not sure. Are you?" John said looking at Summer.

Once again he wasn't sure what he was going to hear, nor what he wanted to hear. If his feelings weren't felt back then why should he care. It would hurt but it would mean he is right to stay with Aubrey, but his heart wanted to hear her say yes.

The situation was confusing for all it seemed.

Mac watched one of his favorite Slytherin students, Eleonore Collins enter the room. She looked as though she had seen a ghost.

"Good day to you miss Collins, how have you been?" Mac asked, unlike John whom Mac had seen around school, he had not seen Miss Collins for a while. Turning around he saw John, Summer and Precious in a whispered argument. Mac strolled over to them.

"If you wish to talk you can do so, outside my class rooms or in detention after class. Am I understood?" Mac said to the three of them before walking away.

Summer turned to look at John wearily. A part of her was buzzing with happiness; this meant that John did return Summer's feelings. But the other part was thinking about someone else: Aubrey. Summer didn't want to do anything to hurt her friend, but by neglecting her feelings towards John she was just hurting herself. She turned around, startled, as the professor walked over to them.

"Sorry, sir," she mumbled quietly before turning back to John and sitting up straight. She pointed her wand at the pillow, pretending to be focused on the incantation before speaking once again to John, so that only he could hear her. "I don't know..I mean, for some reason it hurt me too when you admitted we were just friends. And, I don't know, I can't stop thinking about it. But it's just so confusing for me too...So, I guess, I just don't know..." Summer's voice trailed off and she hesitated, not knowing what to say next. Her head was spinning with confusion.

"Sorry Mac" John grumbled begrudgingly.

"We should see, I mean, how me and you work. Give it a shot. What bad could it do?" John said. He was putting himself out there. If Summer didn't agree and felt her friendship with Aubrey was too strong to do something with John she might tell Aubrey and this would ruin his chances with Summer or Aubrey, on the other hand. Summer might be the fresh change he needed and could be a better girl friend for John.

John placed his hand on Summers knee "So what do you think?"

Constanta entered the Charms classroom and stopped to read the board, then noticed that the questions had already been answered. She pulled her wand from her pocket and moved to a pile of pillows on one end of the room. It seemed there wasn't anyone she'd really like to talk to in the classroom yet, so she may as well do the lesson.

She focused on the first pillow, concentrating her willpower on it. "Depulso pillow!" She waved her wand with the incantation, and the pillow slid off of the pile and moved along the floor to the other side of the room. She supposed this wasn't exactly what it should do, but it was a start.
