Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

be fearless; // EM: THE .GIF QUEEN!

Emma let out an audible sigh, her notes in her lap. Every time she seemed to think she knew an answer, she was a bit more confused than she was before. Recall that last year you learned that the planet mercury is a symbol of commerce... Em rubbed her temples, trying to recall the information. She couldn't easily hide the fact that Divination wasn't one of her favorite subjects, but when Bannishtar spoke, she could not help but be interested. As another Ravenclaw answered another question, Emma felt her pulse race again. The answer had been just at the tip of her tongue, and yet...perhaps she was preoccupied with other things. She glanced to her side to see Tristan still sitting beside her, and she absentmindedly grabbed at the earthy floor, rubbing her hands against the cold earth. I just can't wait until Herbology. Clearing her throat, she began to write down what the fellow Ravenclaw had said.

Hermes was the relative equivalent of Mercury...His association with the kerykeion...he does represent balance, in a way. caarring messages from Gods...demonstrating the balance of the heaven and earth..." She couldn't help but glance around and see if anyone else was as confused as her.

Sighing, Em listened to Bannishtar intently as he praised her and went on with his lesson. Her hand moved rapidly across her notebook in her lap, her eyes on him as he spoke. Clearing her throat, she jumped to answer him before the other girl could. "The word means chariot. It fits perfectly because the "Merkabah" stance.." Her voice trailed off as she consulted her notes. "Allows you to contact the unconscious domain..." Her face lifted from her notes, her cheeks flushed with shy happiness. "So it's like a chariot, transporting you to that next level."

Summer quickly scribbled down everything that Bannishtar and the other students were saying. Normally, she would have found such a class boring or even frustrating, but now the class seemed more appealing to Summer. She even felt as if her new found interest in Divination made her remember more knowledge on the intriguing subject. Who knew? Maybe the information was always inside of Summer, but she had yet to find the correct moment to let loose the information. Summer rapidly drew a lopsided version of the figure Banni had created. She shut her eyes once again, trying to remember where she had seen the symbol before. "It is the symbol of our very physical existence. The twelve around one pattern is the model of the third dimension. These twelve cones spiral around the center, formal a whole plane of existence--ours." Abruptly, the answer hit Summer and her mouth opened, spluttering out the answer.

"Well sir, we find Twelve Around One in many places. On a clock, zodiac wheel, calendar, wheel of karma, alchemy wheel, mandala-- tons of places," Summer informed the class, trying to remember all the places she had seen the strange symbol. "Er, sir? Could the All Seeing Eye possibly be an example of Twelve Around One?" Summer inquired, curiously. She knew her examples were correct, but worried that they weren't broad enough. Could there possibly be another example, a more unique one that wasn't an everyday item used by regular muggles?

Paisley listened to the others, turning the ideas in her head as the model turned above her. Twelve...twelve...three times four, six times two...twelve... Summer rattled off a list and Paisley nodded to each. The idea of the all-seeing eye being a twelve-around-one icon sparked her own imagination.

"The Hebrew star, with six points and six spaces," she suggested suddenly. "Or even things in nature - flowers, atomic structures, even sounds - birds tend to chirp in sixes, and usually repeat each call." Paisley was straying into areas (specifically chemistry and birding) which she didn't quite understand, and was quite possibly completely incorrect, but she stated everything matter-of-factly, as if she was positive. She ended her statement with a non-committal blink of her big brown eyes. They strayed back to the ceiling again, where the sparkly demonstrative swirled.

Tristan had listened with interest, rather enjoying the free flowing conversation and exchange of ideas going on in a way that didn't feel like learning. It made it all the more enjoyable rather than just being spoonfed information. He raised his hand to ask a question, "Professor? What about the 12 apostles around the Christian figure of Jesus Christ? Could that be a representation of 12 around 1?"

Fera entered the classroom, her steps lighter than usual. "Professor? What about the 12 apostles around the Christian figure of Jesus Christ?" Fera blinked at Tristan, a guy she honestly had no negative or positive opinion on. "Could that be a representation of 12 around 1?" Now, Fera thought she knew which question Banni must have asked, and raised her voice, it sounded pathetically hoarse and weak, "The… zodiac signs all last one month and one solar year… And they're spread in a belt around the sun. Twelve around one."

She sat down far away from everyone else, stroking her bandaged chin with her little finger.

Ray quickly and quietly entered the classroom. She had slept late but didn't want to miss class entirely. Finding a vacant spot, Rayanne pulled out her notes and began scribbling down what others were saying.

She turned to the person beside her ((anyone))

"Have I missed a lot?" She asked curiously, wondering what Jesus had to do with anything related to divination.

He watched a Gryffindor girl come in the middle of lecture and he looked at her curiously, wondering what the centaur would say about her lateness in the class. He knew some of the answers of the questions being asked, but he didn't feel that he needed to answer any of them at the moment. He was too busy thinking about the people around him..and Emma, though he didn't exactly want to think about her.

Laurel sat there, copying down different examples of this 12 around 1 business...ugh, all completely pointless. All this sacred geometry bullcrap was getting on her nerves.

"Well Professor," she said flatly, raising her hand for good measure. "The twelve tone music scale is one...and isn't the third dimension itself a representation of the twelve around one or would it be the other way around?"

Where there any other things she could remember that showed relevance to the 12 around 1? It wasn't something you automatically noticied, and Bannishtar said it was rather subliminal, so that would make sense. Wait a minute...this whole 12 around 1 and Phi and etc etc only held relevance to those who believed in some sort of higher power -- that which created the realities and wove the patterns into the universe.

"So what if I don't believe we have souls?" Laurel asked experimentally. "Then isn't this meaningless? What if we don't? Who made all this up?"

It was around that time that a fellow Gryffindor girl walked in late and took a seat next to her. Had she missed a lot? Yes, yes, yes. It barely made sense to Laurel and she'd been here almost the whole time.

"Here, maybe these'll help," she said, sliding her notes over to the girl.

"All very good answers," said Banni, "Each of you may take five points for your houses. And excellent reasoning, Miss Gray--."

((OOC: So, that's 15 points for Ravenclaw and 10 points for Gryffindor. Writing that in the dialogue was beginning to get repetitive.))

Just as Banni finished his last sentence, the door opened, letting in a bright light to cut through the relative darkness. A student of his darted through the trees to sit with her classmates. Banni spoke to her in a gentle, non-threatening manner that was nonetheless quite stern:

"Good of you to join us, Miss Garner," said the Centaur, "I'm afraid you've missed the bulk of today's discussion, but if you could get your notes from one of your classmates, than when next we meet I will be happy to quiz you for a makeup grade. Is that acceptable?"

Bannishtar turned his attention back to Laurel, noting her incredulous tone when she had spoken. Immediately Banni knew that this girl had the usual arrogance of her kind: so unwilling to recognize anything that extends beyond the little microcosm of their existence.

"...but to answer your question on the third-dimension, Miss Luther: The other way around, I do believe. Archetypes are merely representations of proven patterns, you see. I do not see that a belief in a higher power or a 'soul' is necessary. While archetypes have been implemented in the attempts of many to prove the existence of a higher power, they themselves validate no such claim; however, their own validity can not be denied: Each archetype has a mathematical basis--a pattern which is found in nature, and the archetype exemplifies it. What you see here merely points to an order to the universe which I will, over the course of these lessons, attempt to teach you to study. That is the point of this class, for those of you who hadn't figured that out yet. So you see, Miss Luther, no one 'made this up'. Understood?" Banni smirked. He couldn't help it. It was all in educating the young Miss, in any case.

Banni hoped she understood, or nothing he would teach her in the future would mean much if she didn't understand that regardless of what--if anything--is up there, there is an order to the world, and to understand that order is to understand life itself.

Just then, the bell rang, shaking Bannishtar from his state of pensiveness. Without even waiting for Bannishtar to dismiss them, a number of students had already begun gathering their things and making their way towards the door.

Banni sighed. These human children had very little respect, but no matter. Banni raised both hands (and his voice) in an attempt to get his classes attention:

"Very well. Good discussion everyone. As promised I'll be instructing you all on how to put knowledge of these patterns to use over the course of the next few lessons. You are dismissed."

I must be patient with them, Banni thought, massaging his forehead with his right thumb and forefinger as his students nosily left the room, It is the hard-headedness of their kind--but more so, the obstinance they've learned from their predecessors--here is praying to whatever might or might not be up there that they do not grow up to make the same mistakes...their future may depend on it.

There was indeed more Banni wished to teach his class, but that would have to wait until the opportune moment. It was difficult to predict exactly when the crisis the centaur had seen in his vision was to take place--though the words he'd spoken but hadn't heard until it was played back for him by Professor Stuart had made it quite clear that the events had already been set in motion--but Banni wished to make sure that the students of Hogwarts were ready. The centaur's horrible premonition had implied that it would soon draw a new generation into an age-old confrontation.

"The shadows of the past will return,
And as the order of the Titan over his subjects comes to chaos in Heaven,
so shall two Titans clash on Earth;
History will repeat itself,
And those that are bitter will cast off the yoke of their oppressors,
and in doing so will they put in motion events far greater than themselves.

"It begins now...it has begun:
The shadows of the past will return,
And as the order of the Titan over his subjects comes to chaos in Heaven,
so shall two Titans clash on Earth..."

As the last of his Fourth Year class left the room, Banni felt the need to visit the forest again. No doubt there had been little progress in the last few hours.

Gregori... Banni thought now on the deceased elder of the herd as he stared up into the enchanted starry sky, noting Mars has become ever brighter in the last few months, What secrets did you take with you to your funeral pyre?

Emma sighed slightly as she began packing up her things. She watched Bannishtar's reaction to Laurel and she smiled weakly. She couldn't really, for the life of her, understand much why the students showed little respect for the centaur although the subject was less than enjoyable for Em. She smiled at Tristan as she hoisted her bag over her shoulder. "See you in a bit, then?" Calmly, she couldn't help but giggle to herself as she whipped her long, blond, currently pin straight hair behind her. She enjoyed the feeling of it flow behind her as she walked out of class, visibly looking much happier than the previous day.

Tristan had enjoyed the lesson and was a little sad to have it end. It wasn't often they had an intelligent conversation without it ending in wands these days it seemed. Perhaps as the Slytherins weren't there is why. He shoved his book and notes into his binder, swung his bag across his shoulder and headed for Potions with the Hufflepuffs.

Laurel sighed at Bannishtar's answer of her question -- she couldn't wrap her mind around the concept of coincidence. She wasn't a religious person, her family was full of purebloods who would die if she ever dared to be, after all, it was the fault of the Church that the Luther's were cursed, but she couldn't, or wouldn't, perhaps, be a world so intricate in that these patterns of math and life itself existed without anything behind them. Maybe it was just her looking for a reason to being alive, or something like that.

"If you say so," she said, shrugging. Maybe he was right -- and none of this was for any reason once so ever. But then again, maybe he was wrong. Maybe neither of them was right.

With those turbulent thoughts in her head, Laurel stood up, grabbed her things and left the classroom.

The image in the sky dispersed and Paisley's distraction was broken. Class dismissed...already? She slipped her broken quill back into her bag and stood up, slinging the bag across her slightly slanted shoulders, pulling the isolated strands from where it hung. The professor looks more distracted than I was, she thought fleetingly as she walked by him to leave the room. Probably considering the chances of any of us retaining what we talked about today. My guess? Zip.

Pausing to let another student out before her, Paisley glanced back once more. I bet he's just bored. With a resolute turn, Paisley strode out of the classroom, headed for the dungeons, where Potions would be held.

After scribbling down the last of her notes, Summer messily shoved her books, roll of parchment, and bottle of ink into her book bag. Swinging the bag over her shoulder, Summer stood up and brushed some grass off of her skirt. Still fully aware of the letter that was currently stuffed in her pocket, she smiled and waved at the teacher, then exited the Divination classroom, heading towards the third floor where Charms would be held with the Slytherins.
