Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

The dark forest room is left empty and unlocked yet again. Students file in, but Bannishtar, their Divination professor and the school's only resident centaur, is nowhere to be found. He was late the day before as well. Above the stars shine in the enchanted ceiling, indifferent to the chaos Bannishtar now works to prevent.

Summer entered the Divination classroom/forest, her mind only half awake. It was still too early for Summer, but her encounter with the Slytherin girl, Precious, had made Summer wake up a little. Nevertheless, part of her was still asleep.

Summer looked up at the enchanted ceiling, much like the one in the Great Hall, and smiled. She loved the Divination classroom not for it's several trees or crickets, but for it's ceiling. Summer was so enthralled by the sparkling ceiling that it was only when she had plopped down against a tree and took out her textbook when she realized that the classroom was empty, much to her dismay. Summer sighed a disappointed sigh and leaned her head against the solid oak tree. She closed her penetrating green eyes shut and drifted off, not fully asleep, but not fully awake either.

The gray and black cobbles of the school's corridors tipped and tapped as Valora strode along them. A cool breeze was coming in from the outside; as the birds sang in harmony. It was a great scene, something very relaxing to have just before one of Val's lesser strong subjects.

She entered the classroom, spotted a girl and looked her up and down. She looked rather nice; this fellow Fourth Year girl was a Gryffindor. Valora smiled to herself and wandered past the girl; she though and innocent smile would not be of harm to lesson - after all the Professor was not here yet.

Valora settled down beside the girl and smoothed out her dress. She smiled to the girl once more before unloading her belongings onto the grassy floor. Smiling again she snuggled back in the grass; taking glances at the pretty Gryffindor once more.

Emma entered the classroom, feeling an overwhelming sense of deja vu. However, she also felt a great weight lifted off her shoulders - smiling and unusually bubbly, she glanced around at Summer and another girl whom Em had never met. Waving politely, she decided to take a seat on the earthy ground farther away, inhaling the sweet smell of nature.

There wasn't much left to worry about - while the previous day had been hectic, Em resolved to make the new day as stress free, as breezy ... now if only she could get the mental image of that Gryffindor girl talking to Xander out of her head. Smirking slightly by herself, Bannishtar still hadn't arrived. She got out her notes and began reviewing them.

Summer was startled when she heard another fellow student enter the classroom. If it wasn't for the creaking sound of the door, however, Summer wouldn't have even looked up. The grassy floor hardly made a peep when walked upon.

Summer's eyes snapped open as she witnessed a Ravelclaw girl walk into the classroom. The girl seemed vaguely familiar and looked extremely friendly. Summer smiled at the girl as she sat down beside her. As the professor was not present yet, Summer decided to introduce herself.

"Ciao lí. I don't believe we've met," Summer said, smiling at the girl. She stuck out her hand for the girl to shake. "I'm Summer, Summer Nielson."

She beamed and waved at Emma as she walked into the classroom. Now, where could Banni be? This was the second day in a row he was late...

Laurel sauntered into the Divination classroom, stopping in the doorway and putting her hands on her hips, looking around for where she should sit. Nobody she'd be caught dead with was in the room yet, so she took a seat by herself. Ugh, she hated it when teachers were late for class. Talk about irresponsible! Not to mention hypocritical.

Another student entered; this time a fellow Ravenclaw. One Val had never seen before around her now long four years at the school. She felt a small part of a big place; a small fish in a big pond. But she felt as so this year was her year to get to know her fellow peers.

Smiling back to the other girl, who too was rather glamourous; Val's trail of thought was broken by the sound of a soft, sweet voice. It was coming from the pretty Gryffindor she had settled in beside, after all that day dreaming she had forgotten about her.

Val shook the girl's hand and gripped it slightly before letting go. She then bit her lip as another freeze came through the naturistic classroom as another Gryffindor entered; it was amazing to sit in, "My name is Valora Ina Moliere" she smiled as she took back her hand, "But you can call me Val."

Summer grinned once again at the girl, who introduced herself as Valora. "Valora...that's a pretty name," Summer replied, shaking Val's hand. She beamed at her before adding, "Well, it's nice to meet you, Val." Summer noticed the girl giving her a strange look, but thought nothing of it. Summer glanced at Emma reviewing her notes. Summer would be doing the same herself if it wasn't for the fact that no matter how much she studied, Divination would never be Summer's best subject. Truth be told, the class was far from it.

"So...how's your life been lately?" Summer inquired, trying to make conversation with Val. She only halfheartedly watched as another Gryffindor girl glided into the classroom.

Laurel looked around at who exactly was in the classroom -- a fellow Gryffindor, and two Ravenclaws; all of which she had ever considered worth her time. But really, sitting here by herself was becoming deathly droll. So much so, that she was considering lowering herself to going and joining the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw at a closeby table, if just for a short chat until someone more worthy of her attentions came in. Nobody would know, right?

"Hello ladies," Laurel approached them decisively, flashing a killer smile down at them, always the charming girl. "You wouldn't mind introduction yourselves, now would you?"

Flipping her curls over her shoulder, she took a seat, and crossed her legs daintly under the table. This would be interesting, if nothing else.

"I'm Laurel Luther, just in case you didn,'t know," she said somewhat haughtily, but distracted them from the tone by a friendly smile and tilt of the head. In fact, she even stuck her hand out to shake. People were easy.

Summer looked up at the sound of an oddly familiar voice to see the Gryffindor girl who had just entered addressing them. Summer smiled a friendly smile at the girl before introducing herself.

"Oh, hey there. I'm Summer Nielson," Summer answered, shaking the girl's hand. She couldn't help but notice Laurel's haughty attitude. It showed in her way of speaking, the way she crossed her legs, the way she smiled at them, even down to the way she flipped her hair. Nevertheless, Laurel seemed friendly and Summer wasn't a person to be intimidated by first impressions only.

"Nice to meet you, Summer," Laurel said, lightly shaking the girl's hand.

Sometimes Laurel thought about what her mother would think of her now -- being all fake and sugary, yet haughty and condescending at the same time. It made this ball of emotion well up in her stomach, almost like bile, rising up in her throat, but whenever it happened, she fought the urge to puke and shoved it deep back down. If her mother actually cared, she would have bothered to mention that whole family curse thing, and besides, it wasn't as if it mattered anymore anyhow.

"Isn't it just ridiculous that the Professor can't be on time?" she asked, with a laugh. It was almost as if she was making fun of him, questioning his capabilities, but at the same time she was being completely serious in the fact that it was ridiculous -- shouldn't teachers be on time? How can they tell students to be there, when they couldn't even? So, half of it was cruel, the other half, pure teenaged angst.

"Honestly, I think this class is bull," Laurel commented. "Whether Bannishtar is good at what he does or not, it will never be of use to people in the normal world,"

Summer raised her eyebrows when the girl, Laurel, laughed at the teacher. That was pretty much what she had done: insulted, then laughed at Banni. Nevertheless, Summer felt complied to agree with her. There was just something about Laurel; a condescending, narcissistic feeling, but it was unlike the condescending feel most Slytherins gave off. It made Summer feel the need to agree with her, even if she didn't truly agree.

"I guess it is a little ridiculous. I mean, we're supposed to be here on time everyday and if we're not we get detention! But the teachers, they can just show up any time they want and nobody gives a crap," Summer commented. Her own words were what convinced her that what she was saying was true. Anyways, Summer disliked the class as well, but mostly because she wasn't good at it, not because she thought it was useless.

Emma's eyes narrowed from across the classroom. The Gryffindor who seemed to be running her mouth struck a nerve with Em. Picking herself up from the ground after gathering her things, Em went up to the group of girls, smiling sweetly.

"Hey Summer," she said, flipping her long, blond hair behind her back thoughtlessly. "And I don't believe we've met." Emma didn't necessarily glare at Laurel, but her expression was not as friendly as it usually was. It was a bit hard - although Emma was horrible at Divination, she respected Bannishtar a great deal. He was an amazing teacher, and such a young spirit...this girl, obviously, was a bit too haughty to see very far in front of her.

"And I don't think we've met, either," said Em suddenly, turning to another girl, who was Ravenclaw. Emma's eyes sparkled, and she grinned at the girl warmly. Then, her bag slung over her shoulder, she crossed her arms across her chest and cleared her throat. "So, talking about late teachers, hmm? Professor Bannishtar wouldn't be late for a silly reason. I'm sure, when he arrives, he will give us a full apology."

A smile crept onto Laurel's face when Summer agreed with her. She loved it when people knew she was right. Not to be arrogant, but it was true...she was usually right. But then again, it was less a matter of being right vs. being wrong, and rather one of proving your point. If one can't prove their point, it wouldn't matter if they were the most correct person on earth.

The other Ravenclaw girl came up and pointed out the mere fact that they didn't know each other. Laurel didn't miss a beat -- it was obvious that the blonde wasn't fond of what she had said about Bannishtar. Well, too bad, because she was simply stating the truth.

"Well of course what he's doing is important," she mused. "To make him late for such things as a class, that's a pretty big responsibilty to miss."

This got her curious. What could the teacher be up to? Mr. Luther always told his daughter that curiousity killed the cat, but she never listened, because everyone knew that satisfaction brought it back. Anyway, she turned her attention back to Summer, rather than the other girl.

"But think about it, Summer, when are you honestly going to use the things you've learned in this class outside of a standardized test?" Laurel asked, accentuating her point with a sharp hand gesture on 'when'. "Unless you're a seer or something, odds are you won't."

Emma's eyes narrowed at the girl. There was something about Em that, so far, no one had yet to see - she was a very sweet girl, very caring, sometimes a bit too trusting, usually a bit naive (as everyone saw with Hellius), but, when angered, she was...vicious. Emma had even yet to realize that, as she rarely ever got angry - except perhaps when she thought of Tinsley. This simple fact is what makes Emma an excellent beater - no one would ever expect the petite, pale blond with the faint French accent to be so cruel at times...

Hellius's words echoed in her mind. Potential.

With a smirk, Emma did not care that she was not being addressed to. She cleared her throat. "Well, isn't what we learn all about experience? Personally, I think that anything is worth learning. Anything to better my mind and become more...experienced than the next person." She giggled to herself, a smile on her face as her eyes gazed over Laurel slowly, as if taking in a painting. "I suppose I am in Ravenclaw for the right, reasons, hmm?" She was tempted to ask Laurel what made her so brave, or loyal. Her smirk widening, she shrugged.

Laurel looked over at Emma, her gaze raking over the girl with a hint of respect and a bigger hint of annoyance. None the less, she did have a point. Didn't she just say herself that making the point was what was important?

"I'm more of a practical person myself," she commented lazily. "But yes, I would suppose that's why you're a Ravenclaw, though it is an excellent philosophy to live by. Knowledge is power and all that, eh?"

Laurel knew the girl was trying to rile her up, but one thing about her was that she wasn't the type of girl who got riled up. She was very unaffected by the attitudes of people around her. Personally, she didn't give a crap about whether they really liked her or not -- she'd be dead in fifteen years or so anyhow. Live fast, die pretty, as they say.

"But then again, if I were truly a practical person, I wouldn't bother being here at all, because isn't it a lovely future to be a trophy wife?" She laughed. Married off to some rich idiot who she would barely have to spend time with anyway. "I think the hat was barmy with me anyway, if I were it, I would have told me to hit the road."

Emma's eyes widened at Laurel's nonchalant attitude. It was a bit shocking, really, that someone could have such disregard for things like knowledge...but, then again, Em was a bit too booky for her own good. With a nod, Em couldn't help but be a bit jealous of Laurel's cheeky, confident, lazy attitude - she was sort of what Em had always aspired to be, but knew she could never be ... she cared too much. She cared what others thought about her every instant, always calculating how she'd look to others...

"A trophy wife? You don't strive to be anything more than that?" said Emma, her eyes curious and not teasing. She wasn't attacking Laurel, but simply doing the opposite - trying to figure out what was going through her mind. "I, well...I suppose I can't relate."

Em yawned. "I'm going to go sit by myself again...suppose I'll review some notes before Professor Bannishtar gets here." Smiling at Summer, Em kept her head down and walked to the other side of the classroom, where she took out her notes. She couldn't help but glance up at Laurel every so often. She was beautiful, no doubt...

Why couldn't Emma be so...unaffected by things? Frowning, she continued to flip through her notes alone. For a moment she wondered if that was how she'd always go through her life - smart and alone.

Tristan stepped inside the classroom, a faint smile playing his lips as he surveyed the faux-Forest. Spotting Emma across the room he made his way over to where his housemate was seated, sitting himself down next to her. "Hey mate, haven't spoke to you today. Sleep ok?" He began to pull his textbook from his bag and propped himself up against the trunk of a tree.

Laurel smiled, almost sadly, at Emma's inquiry about her aspirations. Sometimes she thought about what she'd do if it mattered what she wanted out of life. Could she be a healer? Or maybe an entrepreneur, start a business? Or perhaps perform, be an actress, after all, there was no one better at pretending than she.

"When you're a rich pureblood girl who isn't particularly gifted," she explained. "There's not much else you can hope for."

Being a trophy wife wasn't exactly her idea of a good time, but sometimes, you just have to take the cards that life deals you. Perhaps if she were more ambitious, more driven, she'd bother to complain, or live life like it today was her last, whatever they say, but she wasn't. Laurel Luther lived in the moment.

"Probably a good idea, Madamoiselle Francaise," she made the nickname up on the spot, due to the blonde's slight french accent. "Open yourself to that knowledge!"

Laurel wasn't trying to be mean, but rather the opposite. It was a poking fun that wasn't malicious at all. In fact, it was almost affectionate, if you could call her something like that. No, no, it was wistful. The girl had interested her, after all, one always needed someone to throw some banter back and forth with. It made life fun.

Maybe she envied Emma's dedication to schoolwork a little, also. After all, Laurel had trained herself to ignore what she aspired for, anything she could ever feel dedicated about. But with a smile in the girl's direction, she shoved the feeling back down, just like it was any other silly notion.

Emma blinked at Laurel's nickname and smiled weakly. "My name is Emma," she said from across the room. "But that works, too."

She tried to read her notes, but couldn't even concentrate on the text. She was just too focused on the fact that suddenly Emma felt as though she was going to be a hermit for the rest of her life, sitting at home alone and sipping hot chocolate with her 20,000 cats, wearing shower caps when she wasn't showering...She heard a familiar voice and glanced up sharply, for it had ripped her out of her traumatizing day dream.

"Oh! Hey Tristan," said Em, looking up and smiling as he sat down beside her. She, too, leaned on the trunk of the tree, her notes sitting in her lap. "I slept alright. I feel much better today as opposed to yesterday! Although I could have used beating around some bludgers to lighten up my mood a bit...How about you?"
