| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. I don't know if I should do this or not. But I am. I just wanna ask you one simple question, HOW OLD IS YOU CHARACTER? The answer is thirteen/fourteen. Now: Do thirteen year olds storm out to attack recaps? Do fourteen year olds plan a murder and go through with it WITHOUT any aftereffects? Does a thirteen year old make out with everyone? Please, try remember how old your character is. Don't act ooa. (out of age), Yes, some people are extremely mature for their age. Just... do you HAVE to be that person? Can't you allow yourself to act your age? Rant over. |

If we see a man glorifying his race, gender, or creed, we can understand there is nothing about himself that deserves glorification.

There are some people (like my character) that are incredibly disturbed for their age. While I agree that many people should act their age, this is a roleplay. We are supposed to make up stories with intriguing story lines, yet not always play like we're in real life. A point of a roleplay is almost like a soap opera; events that occur are different from real life and rarely ever happen. I understand that realism is an important factor, and that's there for the most part. Every character needs a different personality, but if we would all act our age, it would be like real life where... almost nothing happens. This is why a few people act beyond what people their age would do to make things interesting. Considering that Red Caps can be subdued by simple charms and hexes, it is possible to defend yourself against them at a younger age. It is possible for the mentally disturbed to plan murder and other sorts of events. There are very few of those people out there, and I fear that without them, things would be severely boring. |

Hellius, the problem isn't the individuals who are "disturbed" it is that this is becomming more of a trend then the odd one out. You are right, we want more interesting story lines and role plays. People just aren't taking the time to narrow their role play to a level that isn't so extravagent that it is absolutely outrageous for a 13-14 year old to be role playing. I think Annie's main point is that more and more people are having those "different personalities" and their characters are deeply disturbed. Hogwarts is not a school for freaks it's a school for witches and wizards. There is a difference. Even someone without magical ability can be disturbed. Doesn't mean they form the majority. Your ideas of boring are a different. I would consider no one posting boring, you probably consider when someone hasn't died that is boring. That may conflict with the better nature of this site. However, I'm willing to accept that nothing will be changed because as you say no one likes reality, because to many people "reality" is boring. |

True, John. I suppose that the concern is right, but at the same time, we need a minor amount of characters to have different mindsets than the majority of the people at the school. So it is true: most people need to lay off the sadomasochism and the majority need to have some self control. Those such as myself, Mascacra, Julian, and other "evil" characters should remain the same. Further characters that wish to fall to the dark side should have to go through a process or something of the sort and should have a very good reason to do so. The balance is disrupted, true. All the violence that I have come to love has lost its flavor. |

I'm glad someone has said this. I've voiced my opinion over it before, IE certain characters' constant use of profanity and such, but it seems like things aren't changing. About the Red Cap attack though, if students didn't run out and fight, what would we have all done? Sat on our arses and played exploding snap while freaking out about the battle on the grounds? That was part of the school plot. It was meant for students (ie: us) to get out there and fight. |

Red Caps where introduced into the Harry Potter series in Harry's third year if I recall correctly. Umbridge and Snape had both made statements that they were behind. Redcaps aren't such a big thing. The spells used weren't that advanced. Well the ones that I saw. |
