| Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice |
| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. The Daily Prophet ~Day 7, Holidays~ Battle on the Grounds of Hogwarts Dark Creature attack thwarted by staff, students, and creatures Last night, on the eve of the Hogwarts annual End of Term Feast, hundreds if not thousands of Red Caps swarmed the Hogwarts grounds in an attempt to wreak havoc upon the castle's inhabitants. Normally protected from external intrusion, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry was for some reason vulnerable to attack, the result of which was a throng of bloodthirsty creatures swarming the grounds and attacking everyone in their path. For those unfamiliar with Magizoology, Red Caps are bloodthirsty Dark Creatures which aim to color their caps red with human blood. Though easily defeated, attacking in great numbers can be deadly through sheer volume. Normally the Red Cap population is kept in check by the local centaur herd, residing in the Forbidden Forest along side Hogwarts castle. Yet the recent legislation which has seen centaur territory restricted even further caused a revolt which allowed the Red Caps to multiply rapidly and in huge numbers. At around approximately one a.m. this morning a group of Red Caps estimated to be 1000 strong began an attack on Hogwarts grounds, resulting in teachers and older students risking their lives to keep the castle and those left inside safe. No reports of deaths have reached the Daily Prophet but it is still early days. A number of serious injuries have been reported, particularly involving students, which has caused the School Governors to question whether the school is actually as safe as it should be. Governor Kahn, whose son is currently in his 3rd year at Hogwarts, was asked whether he felt that the students were still safe at school. "We all know that Hogwarts is supposed to be protected by millennia old magical defenses, yet the fact remains that Red Caps were allowed to gain access to the Grounds. We have to ask whether the Headmistress is doing her job in keeping our children safe. Frankly, I'd like to see a more proactive Headmaster who's going to take our children's safety seriously. And why haven't the centaurs been keeping their numbers at a manageable level?" Only but a few weeks ago, Delores Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic was quoted as saying that "the centaurs are untrustworthy creatures who would just as soon murder you in your sleep than help you in a time of need." This sentiment is held by a minority of the wizarding community, yet after the attacks more have started to question this belief. Ms Alice Whycliff (65) of Torquay believes that though the centaurs were once our allies they have since become disillusioned with wizards and turned on us, possibly aiding the Red Caps in their attack. A spokesperson from the Daily Prophet attended the scene at Hogwarts school, interviewing the staff and students about their experiences and thoughts on the whole matter. Headmistress Bidelia Belleford, an eccentric albeit extremely talented witch believes the centaurs were one of the contributing factors that saved the castle. "The centaurs were involved in the fighting of the centaurs, even saving a group of students who were trapped in the Forest. Without them we very well could have lost." Deputy Headmaster, Ravenclaw Head of House, and Transfiguration Professor Nate Aphelion was heavily involved in the fighting, responsible for the successful location and extraction of the group of students who had gotten trapped in the nearby Forest. "A group of students had gotten lost in the Forest, despite rules forbidding the entry without a Professor, and so several 7th year students and myself made it through the battle to find them and get them to safety. The 7th year students were given the choice whether to fight and those that did did a fantastic job and did their families proud." Another startling revelation to appear as a result of the attack is the treason of the previously mentioned Delores Umbridge. The former Ministry official was responsible for the killing of an unarmed centaur who was one of the brave creatures who risked their lives for the school. Eyewitnesses report that Umbridge suddenly turned on the centaurs and her fellow officials, firing off Killing Curses before finally being subdued by Professors Nate Aphelion and Stephanie McKenna. "We managed to subdue Madam Umbridge and bind her from escaping, however her death sometime later is a complete mystery to us as to how it happened. It is believed that she may have had an open wound and so bled to death. This matter is still being investigated by both staff and the Ministry," Deputy Head Aphelion was quoted as saying. As a result of Madam Umbridge's treason and death, Alphonse de Ponte du Lac, a member of Umbridge's staff, has been promoted to fill her role as Head of the Department for the Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures and Senior Undersecretary to the Minister. Mr Ponte du Lac had this to say, "I am deeply saddened by Delores' death but her actions were the cause of her undoing. I am honored to take her place and vow to do the wizarding community proud in my work. My first act will be to repair ties with the centaur population, particularly those who helped protect Hogwarts school." Ministry Aide Belladonna Quagmire had this to say in a statement made by the Ministry of Magic following the incident."The Ministry Of Magic had dispatched aurors and officials, once there was a distress owl from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They aided the school in holding off the menace that was attacking the school. No word yet as to how the Red Caps were angered, nor a motive has been found as to why they attacked the school. The Magical Law Enforcement Department would like anyone with any knowledge to come forward. It has come to our attention that there were underage wizards involved in the dueling and fighting and several were hurt. The Ministry will intervene at Hogwarts for the time being until all complaints are processed and all the students have returned home for their holidays." After all that has taken place we can only hope that the students are emotionally stable enough to still sit their exams and enjoy their End of Term Feast. Many are already wondering whether Hogwarts is safe enough to send their students back next year. Written by Ricardo Enclave. |

Editorial Ranting, Raving, and I've got a few words to say as well It really pains me when I have to outright reject an article sent to me, especially when I normally don't get any (or many) at all. However, if you sent an article to me and you don't see it here (and there are more than a few that aren't), then that means I could do absolutely nothing with it. It doesn't meant that it was bad, per se, bu just that it contradicted with what's going on in the RP, or that it just didn't make any sense. I do not wish to name names, however, as you know who you are. Normally I try to work with people when this happens; send the article back with a few suggestions, however, this time I was unable to do so due to my own real life obligations, so I apologize for not being able to completely fulfill my duty as the editor. However--and I can't state this enough--if I get as much contributed content as I have this time around (assuming I'm not too busy) my job as an editor will be made much easier, as I can work with those who's articles need help. That being said, I'd like to thank Tristan Nightshade, Riley Blade, Mascara Demise, and Katriane Quicompoix for their contributions to this issue. To everyone else: I will try and work with you more closely in the near-future. --Charlie Johnson, Editor-in-Chief Letter to the Editor: A Disgruntled Dissident Disses Dissenters Dear Centaur Dissenters, I am disgusted! I cannot believe the Ministry has taken it upon themselves to essentially place the centaurs under permanent suspicion of criminal activity. If the centaurs were disgruntled at having their territory restricted before then their certainly not going to be any happier now! As most of us know, centaurs are proud creatures who will happily be left alone to tend to their own affairs. Yet wizards insist on interfering into their matters and attempting to bring them under wizard rule. How would we feel if some other species showed up and started trying to tell us what to do with no consideration for OUR rules, laws, culture etc? The answer is not happy!! It is about time that the Ministry started to listen to the wider community in respect to our beliefs and stop using their power to further their own personal agendas *cough*Umbridge*cough* It is a result of our actions that we are now reaping such rewards. ---Riley Blade, Hogwarts School. ==================================================================================================== A word from our sponsor... ![]() Ever been in a sticky situation and needed quick protection from the potential of wizbabies and sexually transmitted hexes? Well now, protection is yours with the new and improved, one shot, dual layer "wand" protection from unwanted pregnancy and life threatening hexes. Now in dragonsize and extra magical. ==================================================================================================== Murdered On Their Anniversary Two Prominent Aurors Found Dead in Their Apartment Well known aurors, Kai and Halli Finn were found dead in their apartment last night. Sam and Julie Finn, the parents of Mr. Kai Finn, had found the couple late that night, on the night of their anniversary, both covered in blood and dressed in their wedding attire, the bodies of the deceased embracing each other. The parents had informed Ministry officials immediately. When asked to comment, Julie Finn burst out crying as Sam said, "Whoever did this, I hope that they get what they deserve in the end." Ministry Officials are currently looking into this bizarre double-murder, but so far, no leads have turned up. As of now, the issue of the custody of Harmony Finn, the daughter of the two deceased, is currently pending. Authorities are currently searching for the whereabouts of Halli Fin's sister--who's name was not released to the press--as a potential legal guardian of the child. The Wigtown Wanderers upset table-toppers the Tornadoes in a shock 310-250 win, with Wanderer's Seeker Casamity catching the Snitch from right under his opponents nose to steal a win. Puddlemere managed to secure just their second win of the season, scraping in to get a win over 11th placed Arrows. The Banchory Bangers continue their winning streak, extending their unbeaten run to 4 in a row with a win against the Catapults. The Magpies and Bats played out an eight hour marathon to finally see the Magpies catch the Snitch and snatch the win. Long odds on the Kestrals saw several lucky punters win big as competition heavyweights the Harpies felt just their second defeat of the season. One such man wagered an enormous 10,000 galleons on the Kestrals to win, taking home over a million and citing rumours of match fixing. Pride of Portree continue their dismal season with yet another loss to the Falcons, and finally on Monday night we saw the Cannons move into top spot with a decisive win over the Wasps. All in all an exciting week of Quidditch with some interesting results. New competition leaders and reports of corruption and match fixing has seen this week as one of the most eventful in the games long history. Stay tuned for more Quidditch action next week.
