| Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice |
| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. The Daily Prophet Ministry Angers Centaurs Centaurs declare forest off-limits to wizarding society by Marcus Starsee In response to Ministry Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Potentially Dangerous Creatures of Near-Human Intelligence Number Eighteen, passed by the Wizengamot just last Saturday, the centaur herd of Britain is allegedly barring all human entrance into their territory. The centaurs, according to Ministry officials who had gone to meet with them in the forest bordering Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on Saturday to delegate with the herd, have openly refused to acknowledge this new piece of legislation, and had demanded that the Ministry officials leave immediately--to which the officials complied for fear of their own safety as these potentially dangerous creatures have long been known for animosity towards wizards--and demanded also that no human enter the forest under pain of death. "Or something like that," says Alphas Dondlembum, 38, who was one of those officials accosted by the centaurs on Saturday, "I don't remember what their leader said, but he sure did say it in a threatening way--almost frightening! "They didn't take the news of the decree too well," continued Dondlembum, "They all had weapons drawn--bows with arrows--and they all seemed so savage and obstinate towards anything we had to say," he added, finally, "Diplomacy was out of the question." "They are, of course, mistaken," said Senior Undersecretary to the Minister Delores Jane Umbridge (the architect behind the new decree) in an exclusive interview with this reporter shortly after the incident occurred. "They have no claim to that land at all, as you all know from your History of Magic lessons, because the forest bordering Hogwarts was granted to them by the Ministry in 1832 A.D., under the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Potentially Dangerous Creatures of Near-Human Intelligence Number Four, as a means uniting the centaur herds of Britain together, far away from wizarding society--which I'm sure both races had desired." At this, the Senior Undersecretary gave one of her notoriously charming giggles. "So you see," she said, "They've no right to ban anyone from land which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic." "In fact," she went on to say, "This new decree was drafted in the spirit of Decree Number Four. It was meant to allow the centaur herd of Britain to go about whatever they will, without being a threat to the students of the school." And speaking of Hogwarts, though we were unable to contact the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Professor Bidelia Belleford, Delores Umbridge assures that no student will come to harm: "Do not fear for your children's safety," said she, "We at the ministry are already drafting new legislation to fix the problem. I will not lie to you, however, as the centaurs are dangerous creatures, and one would do well not to run afoul of them for the time being." As stated by Delores Umbridge, it is advisable that no one venture into or near the forest until such a time as the matter has been resolved by the Ministry. The 1832 decree, of which Madam Undersecretary had spoken, is perhaps one of the many reasons for centaur animosity towards wizards, which they have harbored for centuries; an animosity which, as one can ascertain from the reaction of the centaurs, this new decree has not helped to quell. ======================================================================================= Not Just a Pretty Picture Sussex Local sells Priceless Family Heirloom by Vera Smith They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to Sussex local Bridget Snook her picture of famed witch Helga Hufflepuff is worth a thousand galleons! The painted portrait, said to have been in her family for centuries, has been handed down the line from mother to daughter since it was painted some 980 years ago. "It's always just hung above my mantel but I decided to get it valued as there have been a few break-in's lately and I wanted to get it insured. The lovely chap from the valuer's said it was worth in the vicinity of 1000-1200 galleons! I was totally flabberghasted!" When asked how she came to possess the painting, Mrs Snook replied, "My mother gave it to me as a house warming present. My family has been in Hufflepuff for generations and she's something of a role model to us." Helga Hufflepuff was, as most know, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A highly talented witch, she was renowned for her handy work with Charms and her warm and caring demeanor to others. Asked what she would do with the money, Mrs Snook suggested she would use some of it to get rid of a nasty garden gnome infestation and the rest she would spend on a trip around the world. The portrait is being purchased from Mrs Snook by the Museum of Magical Artifacts and will be on display from tomorrow. ======================================================================================= Norwegian Wizard Discovers New Dragon Species New addition of monster book of monsters to follow by Iven Harshur Manellus Gett, a wizard from Norway, discovered a new species of Dragon yesterday. It has been found to be a cousin of the Norwegian Ridgeback. This Dragon, appropriately named, is the Gett Ridge of Norway-- usually referred to as the GRN, and people have turned this abbreviation into an actual word, Green, to be exact. The Gett Ridge of Norway, or Green, is found in the deep mountains of Norway, and is known only to have a herd, or pack, of 6. This makes the Green a very rare and protected species of Dragon. The Green was described by Manellus as "…having an overall blue body with 3 spikes on the spine. It looks a lot like the Ridgeback, but is not as fierce." Being from Norway, this Dragon can endure harsh weather conditions. It has endured sleet, snow, and fierce forest fires. The uncommon weather patterns in Norway discovered by Muggle scientists show that the Green is unbeatable in terms of tough skin and defenses. Manellus Gett, a Norwegian Wizard of Mandal, 29, tells us, "This Dragon great discovery for wizard-kind. Must keep secret from Muggle. Can't let know. Must quiet, keep." He explains why we must keep this a secret from muggles. We then asked him, ‘What do you think of the Green?' Green seems to be the official name now. "Green? Name Gett Ridge Norway! Not Green! But Ridge Dragon very exceptional. We Norwegians love Ridge Dragon. No one take from Norway! It strong Dragon, breathe green flame. Look like Green Flagrate Spell." Because of the new species that was discovered, a completely new revision of The Monster Book Of Monsters must be made. This means that, because of this, next year Third Year students at all Wizarding Schools must buy a more collaborative, revised version of their Folio Bruti. This version will be more expensive, as more research will be conducted on all creatures included in the book, and can cause a hassle for other wizarding families—but more on that in the next issue. ======================================================================================= Magical Games and Sports News Quidditch First Announcements! by Shika Barrett The Chudley Cannons faced the Arrows today, and there was in itself a tremendous game. The Cannons started strong and had a good lead. Their chasers, Erin Lochman and Barry Lashei scored a few goals in the first ten minutes of the game. Erin started them off by grabbing the Quaffle almost the second it was thrown in the air. She dodged the Arrows' beaters and the Bludgers and didn't get hit once. She made the first three goals and scored the Cannons 30 points. But the Arrows quickly retaliated, without being too hasty, and scored 50. Their chasers, Jack Ryans and Michaela Jennings, got in two and three. The Arrows were ahead for a short time, but the Cannons quickly got them back and scored another four. The score was now 70-Cannons 50-Arrows. The beater, while the Cannons were trying to score for 80, Michael Jennings, hit Erin Lochman in the back and knocked her off her broom. We approached him after the game and asked him why he had done so. "I thought there was a bludger behind her." He replied. The Cannons made the Arrows pay for "mistaking" their best chaser for a bludger. Their Seeker, Jared Kilmen, chased after the Snitch, and the Arrows Seeker, Mel Mitchells, caught up with him and it was a neck-and-neck race for the snitch. Ten tense minutes later, Mr. Kilmen speeded on his Greensword and caught the Snitch in his left hand, his right hand the only thing holding his broom. He was running as fast as he could (in the air, he had nearly fallen off), and the Snitch had gone down that instant. He almost got hit off his broom by Mitchells, but he caught the Snitch and got back on balance, showing it off and earning the Cannons a bountiful 150 points! The score at that time was then, before the Snitch counted, 90-Cannons, and 180-Arrows. Because the Cannons' seeker caught the Snitch, the final score was 240-Cannons, 180-Arrows. Being the First game of the Quidditch cup, the Cannons are in First place now with 1 Win, 0 Loses, and 0 Draws. More Quidditch to be announced. |
