Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice
Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Banni had thought someone would ask about this.

"Yes, Ben?" he aksed, knowing full well, perhaps, about what he was to inquire.

"It's about your fellow centaurs, Do you really think they will harm us if we went into the forest." Ben questioned slowly, thinking about what to say as the words slurred out of his mouth.

"Really, Whats going to happen..to you, if they hate us, but your here?"

"Well," said Banni, "It is difficult to say. On the one hand, it is not our way to harm young ones, but, as Miss Collis can attest to, their new leader has a...different way of thinking: He hates humans. It was most undoubtedly his idea to strike back at wizard-kind like this, for he, and many of my kind, believe that wizards have been oppressing other races for too long--a belief that I would be lying if I said I did not share.

"It is something that I hope many of you understand," said Banni, now talking to the entire class, "that Ronin, the leader of the centaur herd, has become what he is because the actions of wizards MADE him what he is. Perhaps not all--not even most as I have learned from my time with wizards-- of you deserve such enmity, but Ronin and many of my people do not see that--and that is how the rest of the fault lies with them. For too long, both our races have been closed minded towards each other. It is for precisely that reason that I took this position: so that I may broaden your minds. And I am guilty too of a certain prejudice towards wizard-kind, and I apologize for that," at this he glanced at Julian, now feeling as though he was a bit unfair to the boy.

"It is also the reason," said the centaur with a hint of regret, "I am no longer welcome in my herd. I disagreed with their ways, and I was curious of yours, so they shunned me. As for what they might do to me, I do not think it matters. They consider me among you now, so they would not treat me any differently than they would any other human. It is the question now that the voice of reason in my herd, Magorian, is now dead: How will they come to treat humans? And I cannot answer that...not until Professor Belleford tries to reason with them, and I tend to make sure she comes of no harm in the forest, for I have come to cast my lot in with all of yours."

Perhaps he had said too much, but Bannishtar hoped they would understand what he was saying.

Callie shook her head. "My Aunt.... our Aunt... never liked to talk about it." she siad. She hadnt been allowed to ask questions about her family but she never really had a chance to anyway... her Aunt was always out somewhere.

Callie watched the Slytherin girl their teacher was speaking too, frowning slightly as she and the other boy were delt with. She didnt know much about her, but so far she didnt like her attitude much... maybe she would make up her mind after a bit more time with her.

Callie turned her attention to Banni as he spoke, and scowled, before speaking. "Surely not all the centaurs think like he does," she said, "they cant all hate humans, its... there must be more then you that have their own opinions. And its hypocritical, what hes doing," she was indignant that the leader of the centaurs could behave that way and get away with it, "hating all humans for the ations of some... and then doing exactly the same!"

So if she was to come across a centaur, she would be treated like they would treat someone who murdered a close friend of theirs? She had absolutly no predudices against the centaurs... or anyone for that matter.

"Sometimes," Banni began in response to the Gryffindor girl's question, "--or rather, very often, when one is enraged over the actions of another, they don't see the qualifying attributes of that person or group; and my kind has been angry for a very long time. Hence there action in regards to humans. That, and I am sure that Ronin has promised many of my heard that they would do well to follow his lead; that they will perhaps regain all that the wizards had taken from them. Understand?"

Natalie had been listening with flagging interest to the conversation taking place next to her, but perked up at what Banni had just said.

"Regain what wizards have taken.....Professor, do you mean the centaurs would wage some kind of war on wizard kind? I mean, if that was going to happen, it would take place right on Hogwart's front lawn! The forbidden forest has one of the largest herds in all of Britain, right?

"Perhaps the only large herd in Britain," Banni said, "Oh there are other herds, but they are small enough to stay out from under the ministry's notice. And that is precisely why the centaurs are angry: The places where they are allowed to live by the ministry are far and few between. The lands of my ancestors are off-limits to my kind by decree of the ministry of magic. It has been this way for decades.

"In the matter of true war: I am not sure it is possible. Do you know how fast the Ministry would have them--us, round up and detained? Ronin is mad, but not stupid. No, I think this is his idea of protest, though I would not put it past Delores Umbridge to try and have us all captured anyway. It is people like her that are the cause for my kind's animosity towards wizards."

Beau had been quietly drawing but was awoken from her stupor by the peevish voice of none other than Fera.Where does she get off, thinking she's better than everyone else. Pfffff......... She soon grew attentive at the latest news of Banni's dilemma with his herd, Ex-Herd? and other various forest creatures. Things really seem to be getting worse. Beau began to think, and as always, began a series of 'What If....' in her head. Suddenly frantic, her hand shot up, and she couldn't even wait to be called on before nearly shouting, "Are the grounds going to be closed?!?!" Fidgeting and with fingers crossed she waited, poised for the answer.

No...no....Please...No, What will I do without the grounds, the lake?

Garrett blinked rapidly and looked around. "Excuse me, Professor. But... what have wizards taken?" He said so while looking the Centaur up and down. Before now, I'd never seen a Centaur up close! he thought. "Is it your specie's pride?" He looked seriously at the Centaur. He felt he had the right to know, even though he had nothing to do with the Centaur's rage against wizards.

Fiddling with his wand, which was still in his hand, he was anxious for the answer.

Kidnapped!

The class had taken a distinct turn into the realm of seriousnous, the faces of his classmates sombre and thoughtful. Forgotten were the half-finished star charts and all eyes were locked onto Bannishtar, the centaur who knew so much and spoke of a pending war with the centaur herd. What better way to garner the attention of teenagers than to speak of a war on their own doorstep? Somewhat disappointed that Julian had not been ripped a new one but the Professor, he couldn't help but eagerly absorb all that was uttered by Banni n hope to better understand what was to come. Perhaps there was more use to Divination than he had initlaly believed?

Tristan spoke up for the first time in minutes, "Is there any chance of resurrecting the relationship between us? Or is it damaged beyond repair? Certainly wizards have oppressed centaurs, but haven't Hogwarts and the centaur herd coexisted for nearly a milennium? Does that not count for something?"

The idea that no one would be allowed near the Forbidden Forest was like a losing a part of Hogwarts itself. Though repeatedly told to stay away from the Forest for fear of punishment or injury, Hogwarts students had been sneaking in to explore since the schools inception some 1000 years ago. To lose access to the Forest was like saying they could no longer eat in the Great Hall - it was a part of the Hogwarts experience!

Banni had said 'war'. He had said 'true war', and it was nearly too much for Beau to bear. She knew she was being unreasonable, that nothing had happened yet, but things seemed to be escalating so quickly, and she was scared.

Oh Grow up! she scolded herself,I'm sure Hogwarts is safe.

But Banni had said 'war', and Beau couldn't forget it.

Julian was silently fuming that the creature had not taken his bait and calmly ignored him. He was so used to being able to incense people with ease that to not do so was a shock. When people were angry they were easier to manipulate and it was one of the main tools in his arsenal. But the mention of a war between wizards and the centaurs caused his interest to be piqued, putting his annoyance to the side momentarily. Perhaps this 'war' can be used to your advantage. Acts committed during a wartime are not investigated/

And once again he was pleasantly surprised when Natalie came to his defence when an idiotic Gryffindor started getting righteously ruffled at his attempt to bait the centaur. Always surprised when this occurred, Julian still harbored desires of making her his trophy - a pure-blooded witch as talented and beatiful as she was worthy of a Kahn name.
Are you my next victim? Are you my next prey?

William entered the classroom rather late and took a seat on the forest floor, looking up at the sky. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted his older sister. "Hey, Sis! What's up?"

Garrett looked at the unfamiliar Ravenclaw and approached him. "Hi, I'm Garrett." he said curtly. He extended his hand to shake and smiled, closing his eyes. He couldn't help but close his eyes when he smiled. He coughed slightly, but maintained his composure. His wand showing from its holster, he covered it up before extending his hand again.

"Yea, well... It took longer than expected to heal. I'm good now." He looked at the drawing. "You always were better at drawing." He commented, then saw the Centaur. "Is that our professor?" He asked. Then a guy names Garrett introduced himself. "Oh, hey, I'm William Clover. Nice to meet you. Got a cold?" He asked as Garrett coughed.

He shook his head. "No, I'm not. I've had this cough for a few years. Nice to meet you. So yeah, as your sister said, we're working on planets. Do some exceptional work, and we can get more house points and be ahead of Gryffindor!" He smiled and went back to sit where he had been before the boy entered. He continued adding detail to his works.

Banni knew he had made a mistake in answering Ben's question, for now there seemed as though there were a hundred inquiries from his classmates fired at him at once. He did his best to answer them in a concise manner:

"As you may have guessed," he began, now seriously regretting not having told them all it was none of their concern, and that he and the other staff would take care of it, "having not lived with them for the past six years, I've only speculation as to what has happened to their general mindset. All I know now is that the last Dangerous Creatures Decree had even further limited the territory of the centaurs of the country, and that my herd is furious. They seek retribution, perhaps for hundreds of years of oppression."

Banni was, of course, referring to the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Potentially Dangerous Creatures of Near-Human Intelligence, number 18 which had been passed by the Wizengamot just last week and was meant to put further restrictions on their territory. It seemed as though this decree had been the breaking point for his herd. How could they have been so vain as to think that they could just pass a law and it would be followed obediently by all--especially by those who have no say in the first place.

"The wizards have long kept the range of our territory--and consequently, our numbers--in check," he continued, "I know that Ronin has always been very angry, even when I was still living with the herd, and that he is not alone in thinking that the wizards ought to give back all the land that they have taken from my kind. And, like you Mr. Nightshade, I would hope that a millennium of, mostly, peaceful coexistence would account for something. That is what Professor Belleford wishes to find out: can we reconcile? This is why, I am sure, she does not wish ministry involvement, though I know they will come calling at some point."

Banni sighed. His classroom seemed to be in an uproar. The centaur was becoming increasingly agitated, and his tail flicked in such a manner. He did not blame them, however, for who could be calm when the threat of war seemed such a likely possibility?

But his answers seemed to be to no avail as questions were still being fired at him. Can't they see that he is as much removed from the herd as they are? How many times must he re-word the same answer: 'The centaurs are angry, they've no say in what the ministry decides about their fate. And now its centuries of anger being purged.'.

Banni suddenly remembered the question that the Slytherin girl had been asking, about Saturn's moons, and his own answer. His herd had been watching the particular phenomenon for years...and they had reached similar theoretical conclusions to the ones Banni had made in response to the girl's questions. Could the possibly think...?

Arthwen has a brother? Beau thought, Well, I've only been here a short time, I don't really know her. She thought to introduce herself, but Arthwen's brother, William, seemed to be talking to someone else, and she didn't want to interrupt, so she listened to Banni. Banni talked for a bit, but didn't answer her question, and since he had such an introspective look on his face, she didn't bother to ask again. An angry centaur didn't seem too good.

"Oh. That sucks." Her said about the cough, then continued. "Yea, I guess... I was hoping to be in the same house as my sister but I guess god has a plan for us all." He said. He looked over at a girl with blonde hair from thr same house he wanted to be in. (Talking about Beau) He reached out a hand and introduced himself. "William, Hi."
