Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

IMPORTANT: Divination Lore; A guide to the knowledge of centaurs

This directory will help you understand the various signs and symbols used in this form of Divination. I will be placing anything we learn here for reference, as there is no lexicon from which this lore was derived, nor did Rowling specify much of the intricacies of the art of Divination employed by the centaurs--though you will find much of what I have come up with can be found in Astrology (particularly that which was used by Nostradamus and the Maya), Jewish Mysticism, the writings of Carl Jung, and Greek Mythology. I will add things as I see fit to, whether that be that I had a new idea to add, or because I had left something out. I'm still making alot of this as I go along, and for that reason, some sections may be incomplete.

Astrology (Planets and their affect on the world)

(Note: This is pretty rudimentary stuff, I'll expand on it as the students progress to higher levels)
(Note 2: Pluto is still considered a planet here, as it is with most Astrologists. Besides, I doubt the centaurs have been paying attention to any evidence by astronomers that pluto is in fact a 'dwarf planet', lol)

We centaurs look to the heavens to understand the uncertain future. For it is within the movements of these heavenly bodies that we discover the doom of both our races.

*Mars is the Bringer of War

*Venus is the bringer of dawn and the end of hard times.

*Mercury brings great fortune and is a symbol of commerce.

*Pluto is, ironically, both the master of death and of fertility and abundance. This is because when one group (such as a country, nation, or race) is experiencing great wealth, others suffer.

*Jupiter is the master of social law and order, a great symbol of power and authority.

*Neptune embodies illusion and deceit.

*Uranus is the bringer of great change; of Revolution.

*Saturn: Time and the creation of order out of chaos.

Archetypes, Sacred Geometry, Scrying, and the Sea of Consciousness--incomplete

As before, this is highly simplified of what I plan on adding to the lore. I will add more and more layers to this as need be (mostly for NEWT level classes).

Once an observation of the movements of heavenly bodies are made, one must burn herbs such as sage and mallowsweet in order to clarify what has been read in the sky. This is known as "Scrying", and it involves the recognition of certain symbols, or "Archetypes". The term Archetype began with Carl Jung. In Jung's terms, 'Archetype' is defined as the first original model of which all other similar persons, objects, or concepts are merely derivative, copied, patterned, or emulated. It can be difficult to recognize these, as they are not truly "real" in a sense. They exist, but they are locked in an abstract part of our existence known as "the unconscious domain", refered to by the centaurs as "the sea of consciousness". It is a realm where all sentient consciousness are linked, and where a grand treasure trove of knowledge of the universe and existence is stored. By naming these symbols in a trance state known as "Merkabah" (which is also an archetype, but more on that later) we gain access to this knowledge of everything, and it from here that we can make prophecies of events yet to come.

In Divination, Archetypes are visual symbols or energetic imprints that exist in our psyches. Some are readily understood while others bring subliminal messages that are there to help you trigger your memory of why you are here and the truth behind the illusion of reality. Archetypes can often convey messages that verbal and written information cannot.

All living beings have this knowledge, which is why these symbols are seen everywhere. In every culture, magical or non, every intelligent being has created symbols based on these archetypes. It is the reason why cultures and races that have had no contact with each other have similar symbols for things. It is because we all recognize these symbols, whether we know it or not, on an UNconscious level.

*The very first archetype, and perhaps the most important, is Phi, or the "Golden Ratio". It embodies the ratio that governs all things, it is the rule that all things live by. 1.618 is the mathematical expression of Phi. Examine many things in life, and you will find they all coincide with Phi. Phi can be seen in any spiral shape occuring in nature--such as that of the nautilus shell, or even as the ratio itself in counting the number of females in any given population to the number of males, or in the ratio of the size of your forearm to the rest of your arm. All of these things follow the rule of the golden ratio. Phi is also the symbol for the movement of consciousness.

*The next archetype is a very abstract one which is known as "Twelve Around One". Derivisions of this archetype are more difficult to spot because it is not a symbol in the sense that it is any kind of a design. Examples of Twelve around one are the Zodiac Wheel and the image of Christ and his disciples. In fact, twelve around one is most commonly seen in religious mythology, so it isn't surprising that Twelve Around One is a symbol for creation.

*This archetype is one of the most important, for it symbolizes many things, including the meditative stance one must assume in order to scry these symbols. It is known mostly as "Merkabah" and is a symbol of the joining of mind, body and spirit. It can be seen in many things, including, again, the meditative stance for scrying, as well as the general proportions of the Vitruvian Male created by Leonardo da Vinci. Another name for Merkabah is Merkava, which is the Hebrew word for "chariot". The name is fitting, for achieving the "Merkabah" stance is like entering a vehicle that will transport you to contact with the unconscious domain. Merkabah also symbolizes the rejoining of one's self, which is also fitting, as it is believed that a part of you lies only withing the subconscious domain.

*Caduceus is a symbol seen in many cultures. It is generally represented as a staff with wings and two snakes coiled around it. It is generally represented as a staff with a snake coiled around it and it is a symbol for balance Caduceus has been a symbol for healing for centuries, but a mistake is made when the rod of Hermes is used for such a application. The Greek god Acelpius is the medicine god, and carried a staff similar to that of Hermes, though traditionally it only had one snake and no wings. Hermes was the messenger god, and his Roman counterpart was Mercury. Mercury, as a planet, is a symbol of commerce. Balance is required in both life and business, and so caduceus (or "kerykeion" as it is called also) is the archetypal symbol for balance from which the symbols for medicine and commerce are derived. The two are often mistaken for one another.

*The pendulum is not only symbol of time, but also of the sychronicity of all things; the connection of all consciousness within the subconscious domain. It is seen mainly in archetecture, specifically in St. Peter's square of the Vatican, and in the layout of Stonehenge. The capitol city of Atlantis was said to be pendulum shaped.

*The last symbol you will learn for now is known as Ouroboros. It represents the cylical nature of time, as well the nature of existence, time, and eternity. It is the shape of our galaxy, and is represented as a dragon or snake ingesting its own tail. However, it can also be tied in with the concept of androgyny--the combination of male and female principles, negating that which dominates the formation of our psyches by erasing the concept of male and female and the roles therein--thus a new, pure consciousness. That is, when male and female are one, there is a new beginning. A "brith". However, as Divination has naught to do with "trivial" things as the birth of a single child, it is rather a symbol for a "new beginning" of the world as a whole.
