Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

3rd Year Magical Theory; Day 1, Period 3, Lesson 1

Riley watched in awe as the room morphed around her and now resembled a biodome slash medieval torture chamber more than a classroom. She stood up from what was her desk and took out her wand. She made to speak but it hung limply by her side. "How? What are we supposed to do? Just try spells or visualize it or what?"

It was so unlike her to ever question a Professor with such obvious skepticism yet she couldn't help it. The notion that some of them were born with magical abilities that didn't require a wand was just too foreign to her, not to mention the Ministry frowned upon the area.

Charles sighed. I suppose that it's something that I can only explain with an example. Thank you for reminding me, 3 points to Ravenclaw.

Holding out his right hand towards one of the torches on an empty table, his hand pulsated and the flame grew larger, brighter, and hotter. What you need to do is focus intently on the object at each station and flick your wand at it.

Lowering his hand, the flames died down; Charles nodded. I have charmed these objects so that they will only react with the magical energies that influence element controlling. It may not happen on the first try... keep that in mind.

Charles remembered a few mundane details.

Go from station to station and test each object. If you test fire, what may be a clue is that the flames grow brighter for a few minutes at random. For water, something could happen to stop the flow of liquid randomly. Rock, a crack would indent into the surface. For the plants, they would move or grow a little in reaction.

Julian watched intently, his eyes flickering from the growing flames, as Professor Tortal manipulated the fire, the pair connecting for a brief moment. As quick as it had happened the fire reutnred to normal. His hand dove into his robes and grasped his wand, anxious to get to work and discover his talent. He knew that someone as pure as he had to be one of the lucky ones with the genetic ability.

Fire was one that pulled strongly at his imagination and he eagerly attempted to imitate the Professor. He grasped his wand firmly and pointed it at the closest torch. Calming his consciousness and focusing deeply on the flames, he urged it to grow in size and ferocity. Every few seconds he would flick his wrist as directed yet the fire remained stubbornly resolute.

Not fire then. Perhaps....earth then.

Julian strode forward to the heavy boulder that was previously the desk of the Professor. Running his hands over the stone, he closed his eyes and allowed the feel of the rock to enter his touch. Just as Professor Aphelion had taught him, he had to fully know his target before he could manipulate it. After several minutes of intense meditation, Julian stepped back, aimed his wand at the boulder, and pictured it cracking down the middle. Yet try as he might he could not cause the slightest impact on the rock. His brow was sweating and he wiped it clean on the back of his robes.

Not earth either...very well then.

He steadied himself and began to make his way around the room to each station, testing each to see if he had any sort of ability over the element.

Are you my next victim? Are you my next prey?

Riley wanted to distance herself from both the Professor and Julian and so made her way over to the plant life by the far wall. She had figured that having some exertion over plant life might be a nice ability to possess and quite inline with her personality as opposed to something rough and brash like fire or shadows. In front of ehr were a few simple plants, several of which she recognized from Herbology. There was a cutting of Flitterbloom, some Honking Daisies, a piece of maple wood and a few others she wasn't familiar with.

Riley breathed deeply, savouring the scent of the fauna and took out her wand. She took a minute just to familiarize herself with each plant before pointing her wand at the Daisy. She pictured it growing larger right before her eyes, holding that image firmly in her mind. Yet after several minutes of futile flicking and concentration she dropped her wand. This wasn't for her. Sighing, she headed over to the beautiful waterfall conjured by the Professor to try again.

Ian had yet to even try manipulate any of the objects in the room, rather, he seemed more interested in seeing if anyone else could do it. So far, none of his classmates had succeeded in manipulating an element. He took some pleasure in watching his classmates struggle in futility to make even the flames quiver. Some were getting quite frustrated.

After several minutes of watching this, Ian headed over to one of the torches, flicking his wand halfheartedly at the flames, not really concentrating at all. He didn't have much hope of one of those rare gifts belonging to him. He knew exactly what his stepbrother Alphonse would say if he saw him trying: "A filthy half-blood like you!? Preposterous. Such power should certainly belong to those of the purest blood!"--Regardless of the fact that the Professor said even squibs could do it.

He tried each station in turn, having no luck; though again, he wasn't even trying.

When he got to the waterfall, he stood behind Riley Blade, waiting for her to finish.

"Hurry up and fail, Blade," he said with a smirk, "I want to get this over with as soon as possible and get my grade for the day."

Riley stopped focusing on the water and turned to face the Slytherin. She cast him a dirty look, "What's your problem? What have I ever done to you? Jerk!" Still, she stepped aside and allowed him access, deciding that she didn't have some hidden ability to manipulate water.

"Nothing," he said with a condescending smile, "Nothing at all, Blade. In fact I've got nothing against you at all...except that your an insufferable know-it-all..." he said as he passed her.

He stood in front of the waterfall, arms crossed, concentrating on it. With his brow furrowed, he tried to envision the waterfall parting to each side, a crease forming between his dark eyebrows, his thin lips pursed in concentration. With his left hand, he pushed the curtain of his long black hair out of his eyes, and with his right, he pointed his wand at the waterfall.

C'mon! Part, part!

Just then, he saw her again. The old woman--the one from the puddle, her dark eyes now angry. She appeared on the rushing surface of the waterfall!

With a sharp intake of breath, Ian jumped and flicked his wand to no avail. In the next instant, she was gone. He was momentarily shaken--his eyes wide and his breathing heavy, but quickly regained his proud composure and turned to face Riley.

"Well," he said to her wryly, "I tried..."

He shrugged his shoulders as he went to the middle of the room, where students were gathering when they had all failed to manipulate an element. But as he stood there, his expression turned to wonder...why had she appeared? Who was she? Why was she mad? Was it because he had made fun of the Blade girl? She was sad when she appeared before in a puddle of water the previous year. Ian had just doused a particularly obnoxious first year with the water conjuring spell. Was she angry because Ian was being mean?

"Tch. Stupid hag," he said under his breath, but he was now starting to shake.

Whoever the hell she is, she doesn't understand what I have to do...

If we see a man glorifying his race, gender, or creed, we can understand there is nothing about himself that deserves glorification.

It was times like this that Hellius wished that he was back at the citadel. He had successfully been thrown into the mouth of the beast when it came to boredom in this place; and even despite the new ideal that was being taught in this particular class, he was still bored. He didn't want to be involved much for the lack of motivation in all areas of education. Perhaps his grandmother was right to accuse some sort of laziness and intense rationalization; but in all, Hellius knew that hardly anything needed as much effort as many people put forth.

Looking up with heavy eyelids as the professor intensified the flames of a torch that sat on a desk nearby, the young man wasn't exactly impressed. Sniffing once more before closing his eye lids once again, he attempted to get a few more minutes of rest before the period was over.

Tristan had tried and failed to manipulate any of the elements before him, though he thought he saw the briefest of cracks appear in the rock, but had dismissed it as his eyes playing tricks. Sighing, he still had found the lesson extremely interesting.

Tristan heard the bell sound and envied the younger years who now had a free period whilst the third years had another class to attend. Still, it was DADA (his specialty) so he couldn't whinge too much. Their first Magical Concepts class had been really interesting and he looked forward to the next time with anticipation. He packed away his things and headed for DADA.

Julian growled in frustration at his lack of success, savoring the bell as it meant he could escape. He thrust his books back into his bag and stormed from the room, slapping Riley across the back of the head to vent some of his anger.

Ian watched as Julian slapped the Blade girl across the back of the head. Luckily, Julian didn't notice Ian's expression of disgust, for the Slytherin whom Ian had mostly admired had already left. Once Julian was gone, and against his better judgment, he made his way over to Riley, smiled wryly, and said:

"Well that was uncalled for," he said, "you might be an insufferable know-it-all, but even being so doesn't mean you deserve to be hit." Ian's smile faded and turned to that of mild concern, "...you...you okay?" A second later, however, Ian had gotten cold feet. He turned quickly and left, a strange feeling of nervousness in his stomach.

Being nice isn't supposed to make you feel like this... he thought, What's wrong with me?

As the bell rang, Hellius' head shot up and his eyes were wide. Shaking his head lightly to wake himself up further, he moaned when he remembered that there was still one class remaining. Slamming his palms on the desk as he stood, he picked up his bag and then slung it over his shoulder. He left the class in a rush.
