| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. "Oh....right, sorry." she said, wondering silently how some small red cape could compare to the...thing that had been there a moment before. "I don't know if it should be there or not, but I guess it couldn't hurt to tell someone" she said, watching as Ben walked over to the forgotten sack. "And to think....all this for a sack of fungus." she said, the corners of her mouth slowly forming a half-smile. |

He smiled at the fact that it was for mushrooms like Ella had stated, if it had been any other creature he could laugh at it all, but the Gytrash was one of the most horrific things Ben had seen in his life and would not be suprised if he had a nightmare about it later that day when he goes to bed. "Maybe we should wait here until the Professor gets here, we can tell her and she'll probably pass it on to someone like the Care for Magical Creatures professor or the gamekeeper, Well I hope she does, who knows what it could do next" he said, thinking about possible future visitors to the forest, would they suffer the same fate?, especially if they ventured further in. |

"I guess you're right...although, to tell the truth, at the moment I want nothing more than to get out of here." she said, sitting down on the forest floor and leaning back aginst a tree. "Thank Merlin this is the last class-I feel like I just ran a marathon..." she said, closing her eyes for a moment. Now that the adrenaline rush caused by the encounter was going away and her heart was returning to it's normal pace, Ella felt drained, mentally and physically. |

"So do I" Ben replied, as he took a seat on the floor next to Ella in the slightly brighter side of the forest, he looked around, he could not see Sophie around but this was the least of his worries, despite her becoming a friend last lesson. "You were brave" he said to Ella with a smile, he admired how she coped with the Gytrash. |

Ella snorted and opened one eye to look at Ben. "Please, I could barely move, I was so scared...if you hadn't thought of lumos, I'd either still be standing there shaking or...well, not standing there." she said, unable to supress a shudder. "Thanks for that, by the way" she said, after a minute. "How'd you think of that? Of lumos, I mean." |

"I just assumed seeing as it was dark and well...looked like it liked darknes, that a bright light would startle it" he said, thinking through his mind how he came up with the idea, "Plus it didn't come out earlier when we shined Lumos over there" he said, pointing to the spot they first heard a noise from. "Well I suppose you were shaking alot, after all I did have your hand" he laughed. |

"And you figured all this out with that...thing stairing at us? She asked incredously, remembering how slow and mixed-up her mind had been. "Talk about level headed..." At his next statement, faint blush appeared on her cheeks, and she hoped that it wouldn't be visable in the forest. "I know I was, I mean look at me, I'm still shaking like an idiot...I guess it's because I've always hear about them, but never really believed in them or thought that I would see one and then...there it is. It was just so..." she trailed off, pulling off her gloves and, almost automaticly, she began to play with a strand of hair. |

Ben gave a comforting smile to Ella, she had grown as a friend to him in the last hour or so due to the event they had just gone through. He put an arm round her and gave her a tight squeeze on her shoulder. "I guess I just didn't worry as much because I had not heard of them, which is why I called you brave, you could of ran off or started to cry but you didn't" he smiled, "So no need to be worried now." |

Banni, the new gamekeeper and the only centaur employed at Hogwarts, had been just outside the forest tending the gardens when he heard growling and yelping, and the unmistakable sound of young wizards casting spells. Thinking some disobedient students had gone into the forest and met trouble, rushed quickly into to forest. With no time to grab his bow and quiver of arrows, he held the knife he had been pruning branches with in his hand as he galloped through the trees, praying he was not to late. He stopped when he found some students together. They seemed alright, but what had made that noise? "Is everyone all right?" asked the centaur in a deep, warm voice, "I heard noises. What are you doing in here?" |

Ben looked up as he heard an older voice, he quickly took his arm away from behind Ella, he did not want it to look like the two of them were together to anyone new. He looked up at the centaur, he had not seen him around before but was very very glad of his appearance, after all Centaurs were brave creatures who would stand up to anything, so if the Gytrash returned they would be safer then last time. "We got confronted by a Gytrash or atleast thats what we think it was, but we're very sure of it" he answered, smiling to Ella as she would probably not want to answer when she was still shaken up by it all. |

"Gytrash!? This close to the edge of the forest?" Banni asked in disbelief, "Impossible. I've seen one or two before very deep in the forest, but they're practically extinct and don't come this close to the light..." The centaur dropped the hand holding the knife to his side, not wanting to scare the children any further. He moved closer to the two students that claimed they had fought off a Gytrash. "...but you haven't answered my second question, so I shall repeat it: What are you doing here? Where are you supposed to be? I don't want to have to report you to the heads of your houses." He spoke with all the firmness of a professor, indeed he had some experience taking over for them if need be, be it as a substitute or by holding students in detention, having them help him with his work. |

"We're here for Herbology, collecting mushrooms" he said, holding up the sack they had been filling up before the terrifying event, it was half full of fungi, some had been lost along the way though. "There should be more of us around here, we saw one head that way" he said, pointing the opposite way, this is where they had seen Sophie last when she entered the forest. |

Banni inclined his head in the direction the boy was pointing. Sure enough, he heard voices that way. "Very well," he said, "I wish that, however, the professors would remember that I've told them time and time again to inform me when they take students into the forest, so I'll know to keep an eye out--there are, you see, more dangerous things than Gytrash in the forest." The centaur now realized that if he hadn't been so worried for the children, he wouldn't have come in at all. That danger of which he spoke was as much a danger to him, now. His eyes wearily scanned the trees ahead of him. "Of course, you didn't need my aid, did you? You two must be very brave, young witch and wizard." He turned towards the spot where the other students must be. "Come. I will escort you back to the others," he said, "and I'll let Professor DeMedardo know what you've done. Perhaps she'll reward you...perhaps she'll want to know why you are so far from the group..." |

Ben stood up and wandered up to the centaur, "Thanks...erm...What do I call you? Professor? or something else?" he asked, wanting to know the name of whom made him feel a awful lot safer in a matter of seconds. He turned to Ella and smiled at her, waiting for her to follow before him and the centaur headed away to the others. |

"My given name is Bannishtar, but everyone who has come to know me here has called me 'Banni'," said the centaur, "I'm the gamekeeper here at Hogwarts, and I do teach and discipline sometimes, but please do not call me 'Professor'. We centaurs do not generally use titles. To us, respect and disrespect come from actions, not given titles." "I'll need to tell Professor Concordus about this," he said, "He'll want to know anything concerning strange creatures popping up in places they don't belong. I don't have any parchment or anything to write with, with me...can I borrow some from one of you?" |

"Ok, Thanks Banni" Ben said, with a smile to the gamekeeper centaur. He then proceeded to search into his bag for his book of plain peices of parchment, of which he ripped a couple of pages out for Banni, he then handed him his quill - unused since first lesson. "Who's Professor Concordus? Is he new?" he asked, suprised by how many authority figures he did not know of around the school, including the one he had just met - Banni. |

"Thank you," said Banni as he accepted the quill and parchment. He quickly began to write a note to the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. He wasn't that great a writer, as centaurs have no written language and he had just begun to learn how to write, but he was sure that it was at least legible. "Professor Concordus is the Care of Magical Creatures Professor here," explained the centaur as he wrote, "Together, we maintain the creatures and animals that live at the school. We also deal with problems such as the one your Gytrash poses." When he was done, he handed the quill back to the boy and rolled up the parchment. "Now I just need a way to send it," he said, "Stay right where you are." And with that, the centaur raced further toward the edge of the forest, where he slept and kept his things. He returned with a bow and a quiver of arrows. He pulled an arrow from the quiver and slid the rolled up parchment over it. Then, he drew the arrow and bowstring tightly, aimed, and said, "Now don't you worry. I've never hit anyone doing this before and I know exactly where to aim," and he released the arrow, savoring the WHOOSH sound it made as it flew towards the castle to lodge itself just outside Professor Concordus' window, as Banni had done to send messages from afar many a time. "Alright. Are you ready to go back? Keep close to me." ((OOC: I'll send you the contents of the note in a PM to your Professor character, Ben. Feel free to react to it in the RP in your office. And I suppose we should wait for Ella to be on...)) |

Ben nodded in agreement and watched as Banni fired the arrow towards the castle, he then picked up his bag from the floor after packing away his quill and left over parchment into the tatty thing. He then joined the centaur by his side and awaited the shaken Ella, whom he was worried about to also join him, then they could all leave together. OOC - Ok, He's currently teaching potions, so I'll get him to return to his office afterwards then he will react and meet you. |

Ella stood up and brushed herself off when the centaur arrived. She watched the exchange between him and Ben without speaking, but merely leaned up aginst the tree and listened. When it seemed that they were done talking, she picked up her discarded gloves and walked over to where the other two were standing. "Er...hello." she said to Banni. |

"Hey" Ben said to Ella as she rejoined him, "You feeling any better?" his expression turning to concern again as he put his hand on her shoulder once more. He then turned back to Banni, "Shall we get out of here now?" he asked, knowing that the centaur wanted to get the two of them out of here to explain to Rrofessor DeMedardo about what had happened. |
