Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? Unregistered	OOC - I hope you don't mind me making the topic for you Professor. BIC - Ben entered the forest, it was dark, moist and overall very creepy. He walked cautiously into it as he awaited the arrival of his partner Ella, or the Professor. It was only the edge of the forest, but anything could still be around here, so he looked around, inspecting every hidden place where something could be hiding with his blue eyes.

Sixth Year Posts: 858 Group: Slytherin Member #171 Joined: Jul 27 2007 Age 15 Location Pennsylvania, USA	Ella arrived a few minutes after Ben, looking around, her eyes slightly wider than normal. It felt....almost erie in there. However, she decided that she liked it, once she got used to the odd noises and lighting. She started picking some mushrooms from the gound-they weren't that had to find, as they were growing everywhere-and put them into the bag that Ben was carrying. As she did this, she noticed that Ben was glancing around, as if looking for something. "Watcha looking at?" she asked, following his gaze.

Unregistered	"I'm just making sure nothing's around, you never know whats around here." he said seriously, which was unlike him with his normally jokey and friendly behaviour. He opened up the sack and layed it on the ground, allowing both of them the ability to just throw the mushrooms into it rather then walking to and back, risking making noises to any creatures which may be around.

She had thought that, as long as she and Ben stayed reletivly close to the edge, noone (nothing?) would really bother them. But, as she had minimal experience in woods and things like that, she wasn't sure. Never one to act nervous, Ella simply began to pick more mushrooms, although she was deffinatly listening and looking around more than before... :rolleyes:

Unregistered	Ben sighed and took Ella's lead of picking the mushrooms to take their minds off of the surroundings, after all she was probably right that they were not deep enough in to be harmed by anything, plus their were two of them and any bigger numbers of creatures would be easily noticable. He paused for one moment as he heard a crack, he looked out into the deep wood beyond them, "What do you reckon is out there Ella?" he asked, "And don't say more mushrooms" he called over his shoulder.

"What the-" she said quietly, almost immediatly followed by Ben. She looked out too, her forehead creased as she tried to see through the darkness. "I dunno.....a deer?" she said, half-heartily. As she still couldn't see anything, Ella took her wand out and lit the tip, holding it high, and tried to see out into the trees. But, if there was anything there, it had either gone, or was out of reach of her small light.

Unregistered	Ben looked at Ella as she tried to light up the area of where the noise had come from, he reached into his own robe pocket and pulled out his own wand, he pointed it at the same area, "Lumos" he stated, lighting up the end of his own wand like Ella's. Nothing was where the light shone, this eased and worried Ben, as it did neither confirm if anything was there or not. He walked closer to Ella, almost in worry but decided that it would be best for the two of them to be close due to any danger, no matter how inconvenient it may be.

She turned slowly around, only to find that it was Sophie. "Were you trying to scare us to death?" She asked , letting her wand-arm fall to her side. She felt inwardly embarresed; she had let herself get all worked up, and it was nothing! Muttering to herself, Ella made to stow her wand away once more. As she did so, yet another snapping noise came from the trees. "Very funny, whoever that was..." she called into the thicket. "but really, it's getting-" Ella's voice stopped suddenly and she froze, slowly reaching for her wand once more-the random cracking noises were gone, but something was deffinatly making it's way through the trees, and heading towards them.... (((Dun...Dun.....DUNNNNNN...... :P)))

Unregistered	Ben turned quickly when Ella did the same to see Sophie in the bushes and trees, he breathed a sigh of relief and like his friend lowered his wand. He was mirroring her actions at the moment for safety although he still felt worried about the situation. His stomach then turned when he also heard the other cracking and rustling coming towards them, he grabbed for his wand once more and pointed it to the area, he saw the figure of a black, large animal or creature. Causing his heart to beat he grabbed Ella's hand in fear.

She had just enough time to comprehend that who it was before something came out of the trees, and normal thought was suddenly impossible. It took a moment for Ella to realize that the best was some kind of dog. It was huge, and it's head would have come at least up to Ella's shoulder. Tt's eyes were red and glowing-the type of thing, Ella thought, that people had nightmares about. Ella stood stock still, knowing she could never outrun the beast and too scared to send up sparks, incase it provoked the hound. And while the beast was slowly comming closer, snarling and drooling, she tried to work out what to do. But her mind simply refused to work and she was left standing there, her hand shaking terribly as it pointed her wand at it.

Unregistered	Ben had closed his eyes before the creature had appeared, but the increasing shaking of Ella's hand in his own caused him to open his blue eyes to see the monster before them. He squeezed her hand tighter as he stared straight into it's deep red eyes, causing Ben to nearly throw up due to the situation. He looked at Ella, both of them were pale with fright, "Ella....Stay still" he said to her stuttering with deep breaths between words. He raised his wand at the beast, he did not know a spell to get rid of it but needed so just incase of any attack from it.

"It's a...a Gytrash!" she whispered to Ben, her eyes widening. She could remember hearing stories about them when she was younger, as she was sure many other students here could.Those tales came back to her now, and did nothing to calm her nerves, to say the least. Noone she had ever known had seen one first-hand, however, and she couldn't remember anyone ever telling her what to do if she saw one-they were so rare that noone had thought of it. The hound, the gytrash, was now maybe ten feet away from the terrified second-years. It made a sound, some kind of spectral, chilling bark, and it took all of Ella's self control not to scream. "Damn mushrooms" she muttered suddenly, watching it come closer and closer.

Unregistered	"Do you know if there is anyway of getting it away" he wispered back, he could now hear the deep, growl-like breathing of the Gytrash, a beast he himself had never heard of. He turned to face Ella, but could not think of any words to say to the girl. This was unusual for him, knowing his normally jokey, happy behaviour. He put his arm round her and gave her a hug, holding her he wispered once more in here ear. "Try Lumos in it's eyes."

But, figuring that they really had no other hope, decided that it was worth a shot. With a visible effort she steadied her wand arm and cried, "Lumos!" The Gytrash, so used to the dark forest, yelped-it was momentarily blinded. Ella realized this and, seizing the oppertunity, started throwing stunners at it, hoping that it would at least keep it at bay untill Ben could work something out or the teacher heard the noise, if nothing else.

Unregistered	Ben stopped his hug of Ella for a moment, he kept her hand in his own for now as he raised his own wand to attack the beast, he knew one spell which had never failed him and now he needed it more then ever. "Reducto!" he shouted, sending the spell he had made more and more powerful for himself at the beast, he then followed it up with another spell known to cause similar results to anything in its path. "Confringo!" The spell Professor Tortal had advised him to use was also sent at the Gytrash. Together with his two exploding and destruction spells and Ella's stunners the Beast began to feel pain from the bone-breaking spells and it gradually retreated back into the deep forest where it belonged. "Lumos", Ben sent one last bright light spell at the monster, this time causing it to be blinded once more and sprint away, leaving the two of them safe once more. He put his wand away and grabbed Ella with both arms, pulling her into a deep hug.

Sixth Year Posts: 858 Group: Slytherin Member #171 Joined: Jul 27 2007 Age 15 Location Pennsylvania, USA	Ella watched Ben, all the time firing stunning spell after stunning spell, and realized properly for the first time just how much he knew about dueling-and how could he not, with all of the trouble he had gotten into last year... Finally, the Gytrash was running off into the woods, and Ella's mind was beginning to clear. She was still shaking uncontroably, and gratefully accepted Ben's hug. However, Ella was still her proud self, and after a few minutes she pulled away slowly and forced her body to compose it's self. She suceeded for the most part, although her knees were still trembling. "A Gytrash at Hogwarts......and this close to the edge of the forrest!" she muttered, looking incredously towards where the monster had stood minutes before. "I can't believe it...they're supposedly practicly non-exsistant, and we see one ten minutes into a Herbology class.....and at Hogwarts no less...."

Unregistered	Still shaking himself, Ben let go of Ella's hand, blushing slightly he started to talk normally again like herself. "Erm, Sorry about that" he said, but he turned his embarassment into a smile, despite his fear still being inside of him slightly, he decided to hide it. "I've never heard of them before, What exactly are they? I didn't get a proper look during all that spell using" he said, looking at his wand, thanking it silently for its existance, he was also thanking those whom had taught him the spells he had just used.

"I don't know if anyone really knows too much about them...I don't think most wizards believe that they're still around, that they died off years ago. I just remember the stories about them that I heard...Merlin, it must have been years ago...about them. You know the kind of thing, stories about demon Horses or Hounds with red eyes who come out of the forrest and take you away if you're not good." she gave a curious look to Ben. "You've never heard of them?"

Unregistered	"The closest thing I ever had to that was probably Little Red Riding Hood" he paused, trying to remember of anything else more appropriate, "I'm muggle born remember." He looked back into the forest and noticed the sack of mushrooms had survived the ordeal, he wandered over to them and picked them up before rejoining his mushroom-collecting partner Ella again. "Do you reckon that we should tell one of the Professors about it? I mean ok its the Forbidden Forest but still, should one of them be in there?" he asked with concern.
