| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? Dave entered the charms classroom and took a seat in the very center of the class in the middle desk in a row of three. He laid his bag under his desk and leaned back in his chair. Dave looked across the classroom and saw that Tristan was the only one there before he was. He nodded to him as he removed his wand from his cloak and fiddled around with it. |

He hadn't spoken much to Dave in recent times yet was unsure as to why; the pair got along fine and he was a surprisingly nice guy for a Slytherin. "Hey mate, haven't spoken to you since Valentine's Day. How's thing with Vieve?" The pair had gone to Hogsmeade together and had been seen together several times since. |

Dave bit his lip and thought for a second. "Heh, so it's out now, then? I didn't think you'd catch on. But anyway, yeah, we're good. We didn't get to see each other over the holidays though, so it's good to be back where we can see each other. And how about you?" |

OOC - It brings good luck if the trunk is up, and this ones trunk was up! Anyone get that? BIC - "I was lucky, Addie came with me to my place over Christmas." He considered reading up on some Charms notes but decided against it, "So third year soon, huh? New subjects as well. Should be interesting. Not to sure how keen I am on Divination though." The subject seemed a bit silly to him but he didn't have a choice. |

Annie sighed and sat down. She took up her wand and waved a couple times, summoning small sparks. She put away her wand, and laid it down on the desk, and bendt down to get the charms book. She heard Tristan talk about divination. "Divination? You aren't keen on knowing your own future?" She herself remembered meeting the gypsy, she could read hands, teacups- she even said that Annie was special, that she had the inner eye. Eye? Annie laughed, she only had an inner voice, who she couldn't get much out of and who was mostly only irritating. But it helpt you find John... By screaming "go to sixth floor..." She shook it away and smiled, her depressive attitude from before was vanished and she wrote notes from the book in an amazing rate. Soon she had written enough to cover the whole site with small text. She turned the parchment and wondered what more to write. Seeing that she didn't know anymore she started drawing. She drew a tree, splitting it it two all the time to make branches. |

Erin entered the class room spotting some early students in the class room Erin was pleased that they had arrived early. "Well, don't mind me, I'll just put the notes on the board and yez can begin shall I" Erin said to the boys. Locomotor Locomotor is the hover charm. This charm, if performed correctly, lifts an item off the ground. Locomotor, enables you to control the object as it speeds around the class. Locomotor works by simply pointing your wand at the desired object, concentrating hard, before the incantation "locomotor" followed by the object you desire to hover. Ennervate This is a handy spell. If someone has fainted, Ennervate can be used to wake them up. To perform Ennervate you must flick your wand at the target while saying the incantation. Ennervate can be used on those passed out or fainted, however, victims who are dead or petrified cannot be revived by Ennervate as the charm is very simple and there is no spell in existence to revive the dead to their previous state. Who can name the two other spells similar to Locomotor? What spell can have the same effect as Ennervate on a person who has been placed under a jinx? Why is locomotor useful in daily life? "You may begin" Erin said to the class. |

Annie looked up and wrote down the notes on the bottom of her picture, 1.Locomotor is like Wingardium. 2. Finite. 3. It can move things. Annie pointed her wand at the quill, "Locomotor Quill." The quill starting levitating. "Finite." The quill fell down. Annie decided to challenge herself abit and took up a new piece of parchment, she then repeated the spell and tried to write her name mulitple times using locomotor. It didn't look good but worked. After a long bit of training she could even understand the written words. |

John entered the class room John entered Charms, refreshed after skiving History of Magic, took his place next to Tristan. "Hey" John said, he looked up to the front. Once again Mac, John's favorite teacher at Hogwarts was missing, instead he was once again replaced by a short Irish woman. John took the notes down. John raised his hand. That first question was on our exam last year John remembered, he had seen the answer in a book. |

Geneviéve walked into class, noticing Dave in the center of the room and going to sit next to him. She had missed him over the holidays and wondered if he had felt the same way. But in any case, she smiled a bit shyly at him as she took out her notebook to take down the spells written on the board. When she had finished that, she tore off a piece of parchment, thinking to practice Locomotor on it. "Locomotor parchment," she murmured, trying to picture the parchment hovering a few inches off of the desk. It shuddered a little and rose a bit into the air. |

Ian entered the charms classroom and took a seat near the front. It wasn't usually his style to sit in the front, but he thought he might try actually being a little more active and attentive for once. His lack of magic skill in the Charms and Transfiguration classes compelled him to try to do more. He copied the notes down. He then looked around for something to use the spell on. He pointed his wand at his bag beside the desk, a crease appearing between his dark eyebrows, and said: "Locomotor bag," and watched as it levitated before him. He then directed it around his desk three times before loosing concentration and letting it drop behind his chair. Lack of concentration. That was part of the problem. He always had something going on in the back of his head, distracting him from the task at hand. This time it was his outburst at Julian Kahn and Jordanna Bauer that had him wondering. He'd almost let a few of his true feelings known. He had managed, of course, to hide it by acting like a proud pureblood and criticizing their attitudes. Still a bad move. In actuality, he was just annoyed--he had a habit of doing that: speaking before thinking. Still, it could work to his advantage, he thought. He hoped that Julian did now know that he was sympathetic to the pureblood cause. Why would a half-blood be sympathetic to Julian and his clique? Simple: Growing up in a pureblood home, it was all he knew. He also knew that if you could fake it, you could make it. Ian leaned far back in his chair, as he would of done if he was hiding in the back of the room like usual, with the front legs off the floor. Seeing as how there wasn't any one unconscious in the room on which to practice the spell, Ian read up on the Eneverate charm in more detail. |

Tristan had written some answers to the questions, curious as to if they would receive house points for correct answers. Ravenclaw was only just behind on the lead and he was eager to make it two years in a row for his house. Shrugging his shoulders, he flicked his hand, making his wand shoot into his open palm. The wand holster worked as always, ejecting his wand, ready for use. He decided to attempt the spell on his Charms textbook. Concentrating on it floating gently above the desk, he flicked his wand, "Locomotor textbook." The book shuddered for a few moments before agreeing to obey the spell. It rose several inches off the desk and stayed there. Grinning from ear to ear, Tristan decided to play 'trucks' with the book. "Beep! Beep! Make way for the truck!" He forced his large textbook to move around his desk in a slow, truck-like way, chuckling as he did so. |

Dave smiled as Geneviéve took a seat beside him. After completing his copy of the note, he turned to her. "So, how are you doing lately?" Dave asked her. He was quite happy to see her; he hadn't seen her over the holidays at all, and he hadn't had a chance to talk to her one on one yet today. "I missed you." |

Pleased with his casting of the Locomotor Charm he read through the notes on the Ennervate Charm: The Ennervate Charm is used to revive an unconscious or otherwise incapacitated person. It works by injecting a huge amount of adrenaline into the system of the person which usually is enough to revive them from unconsciousness. Smirking to himself, he decided to give it a go on himself as no one would conveniently fall down unconscious for him. He pointed his wand at his own chest, "Ennervate." The effect was instantaneous! It was as if his chest had exploded, like he just received a mammoth scare and his heart was now racing, adrenaline now pounding through his bloodstream, causing his entire body to twitch involuntarily. Trying to calm himself back down, he drew in as deep a breathe as he could manage, yet his pounding heart would only allow short, ragged bursts to enter his lungs. "Ummm help!" He managed to splutter. |

Leslie entered the classroom and took a seat beside Tristan. She thought that since she'd been speaking with Julian recently - and there was obviously some tension between him and Tristan - there might be some explaining for her to do if she didn't want to make Tristan and his group suspicious of her. Setting her bag on the table casually and hearing his last words, she laughed, "Hey, trucker-boy! Why don't you move that vehicle over a bit?" indicating his wandering textbook as she spoke. Glancing absently over the information on the board, she smiled as she saw that they were to practice locomotor (a spell that her father had introduced to her the previous year), but she was unfamiliar with the second spell listed. Unconcerned, she shrugged and started on the first spell. Pulling out her wand, she directed it at her bag, lazily speaking 'locomotor bag' as she did so. She had expected it to work at the first try, and was disappointed to see her bag give a simple shudder, but remain firmly on the table. Focusing a bit more, she tried a couple more times before it slowly rose off the desk and drifted around the table as she directed it. Having failed the first two times when she expected to easily perform the spell (and maybe show off a little as well) had been frustrating, and she hoped that nobody had been paying too much attention to her. Hearing Tristan start on the second spell, she thought nothing of it. However, after she heard a sudden commotion from beside her she turned to find him gasping and spluttering. Shocked by the sudden change she paused for a moment, but soon leapt into action in hopes to help him out. She snatched his textbook and flipped to the index eventually finding a spell that was supposed to help a worked-up person calm down. "Sedatio!" she exclaimed, pointing her wand at Tristan and hoping that the spell would work. |

He felt as though a plug had been pulled from his body, his adrenaline and energy immediately draining from his system. He breathed deeply for the first time in over a minute, allowing the oxygen to reach his lungs, "Th...thanks." He sat still for a few more moments to fully regain his composure and ensure he was alright. "Now, Leslie, I haven't seen you with our crew much lately. In fact, I've seen you with Julian and James a few times. What's the go there?" Tristan was wary of the Slytherin as she seemed genuinely nice, much like Nat, yet she had been spotted with the worst kind. |

Leslie let out a sigh of relieve when it became evident that her spell-casting had worked. "Hey, anytime," she replied jokingly. She listened carefully as Tristan continued to speak, a knowing look on her face. "I wondered when you would ask me about that," she sighed again before continuing, as if she wasn't sure that he would understand, "Well, you see Tris, the thing is that I'm a Slytherin too, and well, personally, I'd rather have them accept me than have them jinx me every time I come into the common room." After she finished speaking, she looked away, managing a genuine look of distress, "I'm intimidated by those guys, Tris, I don't know what else to do... " Meanwhile she was inwardly congratulating herself on a good performance of 'little-miss-vulnerable'. |

OOC: Well, might as well write it with the intention of what Ian was going to do... BIC: Ian was distracted from his reading by a faint cry for help. He turned to see Tristan, the whom Julian had presented to Ian partly as proof of his power and partly--Ian suspected--as a warning to himself, twitching violently. Ian shook his head in annoyance at his classmate, but nevertheless did he scour the pages of his book for a charm that would help him as he shot out of his chair, knocking it down. He wasn't as cruel as he pretended to be. He'd just ridicule the idiot later, he thought. But...he was too slow. The Harp girl had beaten him to it and he found himself standing up with his book open and without anyway to cover for himself as it now appeared as though he was going to do something nice. He paused for a moment as Leslie stated something about being scared of the other Slytherins. Ian smirked as he crossed over to Tristan and Leslie. Of course, he knew that the two weren't different in that respect. "And here everyone says Ravenclaws are supposed to beintelligent" he said haughtily. Now he needed to cover for his almost thoughtful actions, "I was about to help you out, but you'd best be glad Harp got to you first, because my solution would have been far more painful and humiliating." Of course, it wouldn't have been, for Ian's book was now laying on his desk on the exact same page as Leslie's. |

He considered her words and obvious emotion about the situation. Tristan sighed, "Yeah, I can imagine what it must be like, and I only have to put up with them in classes." He didn't push the issue any further however it did cross his mind what she was telling Julian and his mates to keep on their good side. What if she told them about the Defence Club? "Maybe you need to hang around Nat and Ella more. They're Slytherins but still not with those guys. Or Dave," indicating the flirting Dave McKelvey. |
