| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. student Full name: Rae Winston Nickname(s): none, just Rae Birthdate: 10/10/96 Age: 11 Year: 1st Blood: Pure Wand: Nine inch, holly, Unicorn Hair Preferred House: Slytherin Appearance: Height: 4'1 Eyes: Branwyn has light blue eyes with a thin rim of a darker blue around the outsides. They are wide eyes that are fringed with long, slightly curled lashes. Branwyn's eyes usually have a calculating look to them and rarely show her emotions. They are a very bright blue and stand out as the first thing people notice when they look upon her. Hair: A blondish brown color, it is for the most part light in color throughout but has darker strands underneath nearest her neck and light blond highlights at the top. It is a few inches longer than her shoulders and slightly wavy. Physical Description: Just beginning to cross that threshold from child to young woman, Branwyn has the beginnings of a figure showing through her form. Her skin is like ivory with a hint of pink, with a creamy and lush complexion. She has slim hands and feet, with slender fingers topped with nails that are well cared for. Her nose is small and could be called perky, her lips naturally a pale pink and full. Personality: Rae is a perfectionist first and foremost. From her first memory she has always followed after her brother and she naturally exclusive. She was almost seven years old before she spoke to someone outside of her family, though not because she was not able to but because she didn't feel the need. Her first instinct is to stay quiet and analyze things, whether it be a situation or a person, which she has a uncanny knack for. She does not speak unless she feels the urge and is not known for making idle conversation. She can spend hours without speaking a word to anyone and when she does speak it is usually a cruel or tart remark that cuts close to home. To her, emotions are something that make life messy so hers are naturally suppressed. Logic rules supreme in her mind and things must be dealt with rationally in order to promote perfection. Decisions are not made on the basis of emotion. This reliance on logic can make Rae appear heartless. She has little patience for compliments or encouragement, unless they come from Arawn. She in turn, rarely gives compliments to others, thinking they should be proud of their own work without her having to waste time by pointing it out. Often times the cold hearted people accuse her of being, Rae looks at nothing but her family and her house, though not always those in it, as the most important things in life. everything else can be sacrificed or used in order to benefit the forementioned two. Likes: Writing. A safe, rational way to express emotions, Rae turned to writing in her first year when she found herself unable to deal with the normal stresses of being a child, especially one away from home for most of the year. Rae also like puzzles. Complicated board puzzles, mind puzzles... Anything that she can use her mind to figure out. For this reason, she also likes to read mysteries though she prefers the Wizarding authors to those of Muggle descent. When she does choose Muggle authors, she prefers the classics. Though nothing intended for children. Those are too easy for her to figure out and she finds them quite insulting. She also adores reading books on magic and the history of magical families, hers in particular. Rae most likes to be overlooked. When someone sees her, they usually think of her as nothing more than a child and treat her as such. She takes great pleasure in putting them in their place and making them feel like an idiot in one fell swoop. Rae also enjoys Quidditch, and though she can play and could be considered quite good, she prefers to watch Arawn play. Rae is full of house pride and it shows through in her avid support of the Quidditch team. Rae plays the violin, having learned at the age of five. She most enjoys performing with her brother and often refused lessons if she can not listen to the heavenly melodies of the violin and piano together. Dislikes: Rae likes order in all things and could be considered bordering on obsessive-compulsive. She likes things that are simple and too the point and has no tolerance for those who try and use mind games on her, as she can usually see right through them, or who are over emotional. Rae dislikes those of the Winston level in society who flaunt their name or their riches. To her it has the stink of 'doth protest too much' and she wonders what they are hiding by trying avert someone's attention. She also dislikes the tarts who wander the hallways in the school and is known for hexing couples she finds hidden in corners. She also quite dislikes any female who shows an intrest in her brother and feels there is no one who is good enough for him. History: Two hundred and fifty plus years of Winston's are behind her. The staggering history of the muggle branch of the line is nothing in comparison to the magical branches of the tree. Throughout Wizarding history it seems as if a Winston has had their finger in everything notable that has happened, even if it was behind the scenes financing the operation. The Winston coat of arms is a fist clenching four wands, much like the muggle version clenching five arrows, with the family motto below it. Magi, Puritas, Furtivus (Magic, Pure, Furtive). Reynold Winston and Evelynn Awning were far from a fairy tale marriage. Both purebloods, they attended school together with Evelynn two years below Reynold. Though the two were friends, they were far from romantically interested in each other - so imagine their horror when one day their parents arranged a marriage between the two of them. As respectable purebloods, they both agreed and put on the perfect, stoney facade that is expected of all high-class citizens. Even though both families were old money, Reynold maintained a job working as curator for a wizarding museum in Glasgow, while Evelynn stayed home. Despite the two being far from in love, their marriage was a peaceful one built on friendship - and perhaps somewhere along the way, they grew to care for each other more. Whether or not they did will forever be up for debate, since neither would admit it if it were true. Less than a year after the month after the two returned from their lavish honeymoon (six months in South America!), Evelynn announced her pregnancy. It was a difficult time for both, as she experienced many complications, leading up to an exhausting twelve-hour labor one stormy morning in November. The end result was a bouncy baby boy whom they named Arawn, born in the midst of the nastiest storm of the year and the middle of the night. A few months before Arawn's first birthday and during the treatments he was receiving for his neurofibromatosis Evelynn announced that she was pregnant with their second child. The time was stressful for all the members of the small family and thankfully, this pregnancy was less complicated than the first. On May 15th, Evelynn went into labor again and after a mere eight hours, bore a baby girl whom she named Rae Anne, a small pale child who even as an infant rarely cried. Evelynn was deemed incapable of having more children, but the couple was not heartbroken. They had a boy and girl, exactly what they had hoped for. Rae was a quiet child from the start, she preferred to watch people and would fuss only when left alone for long periods of time. She was most content when she was laying on a blanket near her brother, watching everything that he did. As soon as she was able to crawl she began following him around the house, mimicking everything he did. When he began his studies at age five, he took it upon himself to teach her everything he knew and she absorbed like a sponge. It was a more difficult experience, however, when Rae began her own studies as she had decided right off that the tutor was unworthy her time and she refused to speak to him. She had no playmates outside of her brother, as she treated the other children with the same comtempt that she did her tutor. Lying came naturally to her and her need to protect her brother outweighed her affection for her parents and she felt no guilt in lying to them about things for him. Early on, she discovered a certain pose or look would effect adults in a certain way and she began taking advantage of that immediately. To label Rae as manipulative would be an understatement. The practice she got from her parents, tutors and various nannies that filtered in and out of their lives. The day that Arawn got his Hogwarts letter could easily be considered the most horrid day of her young life. Upon learning that she would be staying home with her parents, Rae punished them and stopped speaking to them. After Arawn left, she spoke to no one and spent hours writing her brother letters to pass her time. She spent almost a full year in her room, forcing the tutors and her meals to come to her, only emerging for Christmas and Easter, when Arawn came home. He made sure to teach her the levitating charm, something that caused her no end of delight and her tutors an endless supply of headaches for the next few months. Rae had still not started speaking to her parents, convinced they had separated the siblings out of spite. If Rae were to be honest with you, which would be doubtful at best, she would tell you that she spent the year in a perpetual nightmare state that she would not receive her own letter and would spend the next seven years apart from her brother, whom she looked upon as a god. Her father was a distant figure that paid her little attention and her mother was fussy, at least in Rae's opinion. When Rae received her own Hogwarts letter, she was relieved to say it simply. She would soon be joining her brother, which she considered to be her rightful place in life. The train ride to Hogwarts was an interesting experience though she was mortified at the sort of people she was being forced to associate with. She finally spoke to her parents at their parting on platform nine and three quarters, giving them an icy and emotionless goodbye. Family: Mother; Amanda, Father; Robert Pet(s): none Possessions: Broomstick, Nimbus 2001 Out of Character Information How old are you? 16 Are you a male or a female? Female How did you come about this site? Topsites Do you have any previous roleplaying experience? yes 1-2 years, at many nameless websites ![]() The halls of the castle were quiet as it was so long after dinner and almost everyone was in their respective common rooms preparing themselves for bed and the next day. Rae Whinston, however, was just leaving the library having waited until the last possible moment to check out the books she had selected and make her way back to her own dorm. The books secured in her bag, Rae walked slowly down the corridors checking before turning each corner for a Professor or Prefect before continuing. She hated having to answer to those idiot prefects, most of whom shouldn't have been granted with the honor in the first place. They knew nothing of house pride and stank with commonness. A soft sigh distracted her as she peeked around a corner and her head turned to look over her other shoulder. There, in a niche partially hidden behind a large statue, was a young couple. Rae's eyes narrowed as she recognized them. Syltherin and Hufflepuff, disgusting. The pair had not noticed her and she slipped further into the shadows in case they turned at that exact moment. Slipping her wand out of her robes, Rae muttered a curse under her breath and a shot of green spark shot towards the two. The bat bogey hex, she wasn't half bad at it. With a muffled laugh and without waiting to see which of the two it had hit, though the yells coming from behind her assured her that she had hit someone, Rae took off down the corridors on light feet for her common room and to recant the tale to Arawn. He would find great delight in it. Finally, the ultimate question. Your answer? Wingardium levosa, [to annoy my friends =] |
