Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

She made her way over to the door. She opened it, revealing fresh faced second years waiting for charms. First class ever she thought. "Come in quickly" she said to the students in her crisp irish accents. She was a short woman with firery red hair and a glare that could cut you in half. "Take yer seats" again she sharply said. She was brisk and to the point. She took out her wand. "Whats your name?" she asked a boy standing outside.

Mac was one of his favorite Professors and he hoped that he was only temporarily absent. He noted this new teacher was quite young, probably only just out of school herself. He found himself being spoken to with a wand in his face, being asked his name, "Tristan...Tristan Nightshade. Where's Professor Mac?" OOC: At present he can't really get online so feel free to create whatever excuse you want. He'll just deal with it when he gets back.

He was quiet good looking, however, the conversation between them had only been short. He told her to take his class when the students had their classes tomorrow. "He is unwell at the moment. Nothing ta worry about, he'll be up and about in a few days. Right as rain" Erin said, she sized the boy up. Due to the fact that the boy was in second year Erin was still taller then him. Not by much though. "Now sit down while I prepare the lesson. All of yez" OOC: Its really hard to but an accent in writting.

She chose to remain silent and watched this new Charms Professor closely., waiting with interest to hear her response to Tristan's question of Professor Mac's whereabouts.

I've not seen you around the castle before..." Since the arrival of Professor Tortal onto the teaching staff Tristan had now come to question any new adult faces about the castle with caution. Not to mention this one was particularly young and soemthing just didn't seem right.

All yez have to knoe is that, he'll be back. Secondly, I'm a visitor, from Ireland. The reason you haven't seen me is I arrived while all the students were in the local town. I'm here to see if I can become a teacher. Enough wit the questions? What is this an interrogation?" Erin said. "Now, ter the lesson." She turned and with a fancy wave of her wand the blackboard appeared with the lesson written on it. It read: Gauisus - The Cheering Charm This charm has the ability to cause the target to feel immense happiness and joy, whatever their current mood may be. The charm is a common cure for depression, however many can become dependent on it so it is not advised to be used regualrly. However, it is a wonderful boost for when your feeling uncharacteristically blue. Professor O'Neill turned to her class, "Well, what are ya waitin' for? Hop to it!"

She stopped on page 43 and began to read: The Cheering Charm is a common charm used to create a sense of immense happiness and joy within the target. Its use will result in a strong sense of happiness, peace and joy whatever their current mood may be. However, many people have become addicted to the spell as its effects are quite powerful. It must only be used in moderation as once. Having said that it is a spell that many people use from time to time to lift their spirits, particularly at parties and after emotional upheavals. The successful casting of the charm requires more than just the incantation. The wand movement is a quick twirl with a final flick upwards at the end. Also, the caster must focus intently on ignoring all negative thoughts and focusing solely on the positive. This makes it considerably harder to cast on ones self as often the person is needing the charm to assist such a state. Riley made notes from the text, looking up periodically to read or check a fact before filing the parchment with her other Charms notes. She removed her wand and waited to be told to start practicing. She took the time to consider what the teacher had said: She's training to be a teacher huh? I didn't know they had to observe classes and teach before they could do that. Riley found herself immedaitely liking the Professor, she assumed largely because of her age. It just proved to Riley that this was a witch, not unlike herself, who was talented and intelligent and who was doing something useful with her life.

She flipped through her book and began to read up on cheering charms, as she saw many others doing. Sliently, she took our her wand and began to go throught the wand movements, her eyes still focused on the book.

She read the board quickly, before hauling her text book out and skimming the page. The girl began practicing the wand movement, glancing to the professor curiously. Silently she listened as the professor explained where she was from and everything. Addie wasn't too sure how she felt about her, the comment about what had happened to Mac not being their business, had put her off a bit. We're just worried, why in the world shouldn't we be allowed knowing? She glanced to Tristan briefly, trying to read his facial expression. "Excuse me, professor? What are we to call you?" She asked, raising her hand, realizing the woman had never given her name.

She longed to ask Riley if she was alright - after all, the girl had seemed very kind when they were in Hogsmeade. However, she decided it would be wise to avoid making this new professor angry and hurried to find a seat. Reading quickly over the notes on the board, she took out her wand and practiced the wand motion a couple of times. Allowing her mind to wander for a moment, she remembered the conversation that had taken place in the corridor a moment before. Riley and Tristan had been talking about the return of one of the school's old students. She recalled with a start that it had sounded like he was in her own house. Leaning in Riley's direction, she smiled grimly and asked in an undertone, "So this James Black guy... yet another housemate I should watch out for?" She couldn't help but remember the encounter in the Three Broomsticks. If he's anything like Mascacra, I guess I'd better...

Third Year Posts: 129 Group: Slytherin Member #138 Joined: May 20 2007	James walked into the classroom fairly late. He noticed the teacher had already began the lesson. As James walked in he looked to see if Julian or Jake had made it to class, seems they havent been in the common room or where at breakfast. After seeing that neither of them where there James took a seat in the back of the class. He lazily took out his charms book. Instead of turning to the page their where meant to turn to he started flipping through the pages. Looking at the different charms. He paged through the book from back cover to front cover. after he had reached page 43 he left the book open and skimmed the page about the cheering charm. After he had read what he wanted to he looked up to see his classmates. He remembered Tristan, but just barely. The rest of the class room had several new students among them that he had never met before. He pushed back in his chair lazily propping it on just two legs. He started playing with his wand eager to practice.

He read the spell several times, attempting to decipher how to pronounce it. The charm was certainly more involved than any he had cast previously and he hoped he could pull it off. Not only did he have to get the spell correct, but also somehow pull off the tricky wand movement whilst aiming at himself, and focus on positive thoughts. He grasped his wand firmly and practiced the wand flick several times aimed at his friends. The movement was quite graceful bt he knew it'd be difficult to do it aimed at himself. However he managed it in the end. Next, Tristan began to focus solely on all the positives in his life. Riley...John...Addie...V...Genevieve....Ben...Eleonore...Julian...No! Not him! That's a negative! But after a moment of focus he was enveloping his mind in the good thoughts and memories of his friends. He pointed his wand at himself, gave the twirl and flick and spoke, "Gauisus." Immediately felt a wave of positive energy, of happiness, of pure joy wash over him and drown him in it. He felt like the world was his playground and he was just a little kid. He couldn't recall the last tiem he had felt this immensely happy! Not even when Ravenclaw won the house cup the previous year or his first Quidditch match did he feel this happy! A broad smile was over his face and nothing could be said to even come close to removing it!

However, a thought occurred to him and he dived into his bag for his Charms text which he had already placed away. I wonder how long this lasts for? He flipped through the pages and read: The Cheering Charm can last for up to 24 hours, depending on the strength of the caster. The average caster will feel the effects for usually two or three hours. With that happy thought Tristan headed for DADA.

Third Year Posts: 141 Group: Slytherin Member #208 Joined: Oct 8 2007	Leslie had spent most of the class doing absolutely nothing, but near the end, she sat up and made an attempt at the cheering charm. She managed it quite easily after a couple tries and stood up to leave for DADA in an even happier mood than normal. (ooc: if that's possible... lol )

She checked the charms schedule and saw that she now had the first years. "Dear me" she tutted at the view of her schedule. "No wonder the man is so terrified all these double classes. She wiped the second year notes off the board.
