| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Fifth Year. This year, Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event, The Triwizard Tournament! However, these are dark times we live in, for the Dark Lord Azariah Amaranth has escaped the bonds which have kept him in Ministry custody, and has destroyed the Ministry in the plain sight of several muggles, effectively placing the Wizarding World under martial law and placing our very way of life in jeopardy. Strict curfews have been placed on all citizens, and now that school has started, no one--not students or staff--are allowed in or out of Hogwarts until further notice. So cancel any trips out you might have, because all students and staff must remain in, and everyone else must stay out. Now the Dark Lord is in preparation to topple the stability of both worlds and all races; to deal the final, shattering blow to the current world order. Why all this madness; this destruction and anarchy? Just what is Amaranth's ultimate goal? The first task has now ended. Christmas is here and we all know what that means: The Yule Ball will commence tonight. If your character is planning on attending and doesn't already have a date, be sure to snag one before all the good ones are gone! Today (Day 5) is Christmas day, so there is no class. We will have morning festivities before moving to lunch and freetime, which will then lead us to the night of the ball. You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. In my absence as administrator several months ago, Tristan enabled the ability to create new threads for students in the majority of the forums on our board. I originally did not enable this because I figured things would become unorganized, and it has come to my attention that certain threads (in the same forum section) have role play content in them which occur at the same time. It is for this reason that I ask that the following rules be observed: All created threads must have a day a time of day designated in their description. It should read in the form of "Day #, at this time". I will insert a line at the top of every page that has the current day and time so people can keep track of things. Depending on when a thread is created, the time stamp should be one of the following (in chronological order): Morning (meaning before classes), period #, or evening (meaning after classes). For areas such as the great hall, "breakfast", "lunch", or "dinner" can be used. If a major event occurs (such as a quidditch match, or a Hogsmeade visit), time stamps can say "before event" or "after event". Just use your best judgment. No more than one unlocked thread should ever exist in any section of the forums. If there is already a thread that exists in a forum where you wish to role play, and the time stamp matches the current day/time, use it. If none exists, or the only unlocked thread is from a previous time, feel free to create a new one. If you see more than one unlocked/active thread in any role play forum, please either let me know personally or use the "Report" link at the top of the original post. |

ATTENTION ALL PROFESSORS: READ THIS NOW!!!!!! Ok, so I've gone through and edited every single lesson we've had so they are now uniform in how they are labelled. Please observe the previous classes in your forum to keep consistency to the list. This will make it easy when the following year you can just copy and paste the correct class when the time comes. Yes, yes I'm great I know! ![]() |

It has come to my attention that many people still aren't labeling many forums correctly. I have gone to close many forums that are aged, but I'm not sure if they were still in use or not. Please label as followed: Topic Title: (Name; whatever you want.) Topic Description: (DAY, Period) |

UPDATE: Please note that (open) or (closed) threads are not to be used under any circumstances. As I have said in the past, this entire forum is intended to be welcoming of everyone, always, and I feel that limiting threads to certain people is definitely not something that encourages this feeling. The majority of the forums are based on rooms that are large enough to make several groups of people comfortable without them all being in earshot in each other, so try to take into account the fact that just because you're in the same "area" as someone else doesn't mean you have to hear or interact with them. If someone is disturbing you while you're plotting and they don't have a very good reason to be where you are, politely ask them to leave OOC or IC, leave for somewhere more private, or just ignore their posts entirely, even if they speak to you. |

People have been being a little lax on following these guidelines when creating threads. From now on, any thread that I see without a timestamp will be locked until it is fixed. |

mr. mcKelvey - could you please do a template example such as mr. surla has done a few posts prior? I've read the posts, but I don't think I quite understand... thank you =) |

Wouldn't it just be better for a mod or admin to add a timestamp if one is needed and PM the topic creator to inform them of what they did wrong? That's what I've been doing. No offense to your methods, but I prefer a less totalitarian approach. |

If there is already a previously opened topic in a specific area, use that topic. Do not make a new one. |

It has come to my attention that, again, people are not following the guidelines set out in this thread when creating their own topics. Please be sure to label your threads as such: Title: Whatever you like. Description: YEAR, DAY, PERIOD/TIME No exceptions. Please remember that this practice is encouraged so we can keep the multitude of threads in each forum in order and organized so it's easy to see what time each is from. If I do not see an improvement, we're going to have to go back to the practice of "admins and mods can only create new threads", which is a pain in the ass for everyone. If you would like to help out, please remind your fellow RPers to edit timestamps into their thread descriptions, even if the thread is old/closed/over. If this isn't possible because that particular person is not on, feel free to PM me (Dave) directly with a link to the thread and I will edit the description myself. |
