Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? "Again," he said to Riley before resuming his spot. Again he prepared himself to cast the spell and wondered to himself how powerful his spell really was. He spoke the incantation, "Petrificus Totalus," and saw the same jet of light shoot once more at Riley. He knew she wouldn't block it a second time, not after the Professor's words, and so turned to ask the Professor a question that had occurred to him, "Professor? Is there a way to determine the strength of such a spell like this? Or do you judge that purely on how long it lasts?"

This isn't so bad... she thought to herself, though I bet without the cushions it hurts alot more. She waited patiently for Tristan or the Professor to lift the charm from her.

A good example, but a terrible one at the same time is a widely known curse which is one of the three unforgivable curse, perhaps you have heard of it, the torturing charm, also known as the Cruciatus Curse, very paingful. Well, to perform an unforgivable curse not only must you be a dark wizard but you must also mean it and want to cause pain and real pain. The curse will effect the victim in different ways depending on the hate, that is another indication, the strength of the spells effects. An example is Lumos, the light giving spell, the beam of light may not be as strong while it may last the same amount of time" Mac said. "Still a very good question" Mac said encouragingly. Mac turned to Riley, "Finite" Mac said pointing his wand at Riley, "very good, practise a bit more then move onto the other spells"

She spoke to Tristan, "I think we've got the body bind under control. Let's practice the next set." She scanned the room for objects they could practice on when her eyes fell upon a jar full of toothbrushes they were obviously meant to use. She grabbed two from the jar and handed one to her partner, placing her own on a nearby table. She stared at her toothbrush, imagining it getting large. She recalled the incantation from her text and muttered it under her breath several times. Feeling ready she aimed her wand at the brush and spoke clearly, "Engorgio." However, her wand fizzled and sparked but did not fire any spell. She frowned at it, unsure as to why it hadn't worked. She closed her eyes and pictured the toothbrush growing to 5 times the size it was currently. Keeping that image in her mind's eye she pointed her wand at the brush and spoke once more, "Engorgio," urging every ounce of mental energy into th image and the spell. The toothbrush glowed momentarily and with a pop! it grew to a toothbrush that would be useable only by a giant or troll. She picked up the toothbrush and pretended to brush her teeth with it, the hugeness of it dwarfing her head and looking very funny indeed.

Sixth Year Posts: 858 Group: Slytherin Member #171 Joined: Jul 27 2007 Age 15 Location Pennsylvania, USA	When Ella finished copying the notes, she looked around to see that apparently there was an uneven amount of people, as everyone hadn't arrived yet, she took advantage of the oppertunity to look around at everyone else. Riley and Tristan in particular caught her eye. Watching them, she felt more than a little nervous, as she knew she was nowhere near that good....

John asked seeing that she looked a little alone and lost. "You know I don't bite" John said jokingly. OOC: terrible post but I can't think of anything else. When I was writing this I kept thinking of Lupin.

So, she took out her new wand and walked over to where they were standing. She nodded to the gryffindor and Introduced herself.

He kept his eyes open to see the spell coming, this was either stupid or... stupid seemed to sum it up at that moment for John though he remained still and waited.

BIC: John saw the bolt of the spell fly from Ella's wand. His legs and arms snapped together but he was pushed back with a force landing several meters from where he was standing before the spell had hit him. John tried to wriggle but he could not move, his whole body was completely bound up by the spell.

He stopped for a moment and watched Elle successfuly bind John. The force of the spell was such that he was blown back of his feet several metres. His eyes widened in surprise; he had not expected such a powerful charm from such a small girl. She's good....very good....

He turned to see the girl who had cast the spell. "Finite" he said pointing his wand at John while still looking at the girl. "Was that the first time you have ever attempted or produced that spell?" Mac asked, could it be, a charms prodigy Mac thought wildly, finally his dreams, he had not seen such a powerful first spell from someone so young since, himself, now that he remembered, she seemed to show the same level of aptitude to Charms as Mac did as a child.

"t-take a I mean well 10 yes well at least well 10 points then to Slytherin" Mac said stumbling over his words. It seems that indeed he had found a special student that had a unique talent. Mac could see himself moulding the girl to become the future Hogwarts Charms teacher become his understudy. Learn from and under at a higher lever. Mac merely beemed at the girl as all the clogs in his brain seemed to be working over time, extra lessons more challenging spells, perhaps even creating new spells.

"I'm not going to try that, I'm going to practice something else" John said, pointing his wand at Ella, "Ricktusempra" John said in a booming voice. He was very confident about his ability to perform this spell.

Unregistered	August smiled at John who was obviously making the effort to include her. She saw that John was finished casting his charm at the Slytherin girl, Elle, and so decided she would attempt the the Body Bind charm. She raised her wand and pointed it at John. She narrowed her eyes, "Petrificus Totalus." The spell shot towards John and his arms snapped to his sides, his legs locked together and he toppled backwards where he thudded softly on the pillows. She grinned at herself; she was alright at Charms. She walked over to John and undid the charm, helping him to his feet. "That was my first charm ever. Thanks for including me too." Perhaps you'd like to practice on me now?" She walked back a few paces and stood facing her partner.

The object now weighed considerably more due to its size. He dropped back onto the wood and aimed his wand once more, "Reducio," he spoke clearly, recalling the spell. The object glowed once more and shrank to its original size. He picked it up again and examined it carefully. It felt exactly like it had, the weight, the size, the feel. The spell had completely undone the original magic placed upon it. He repeated the process several more times, increasing and reducing the toothbrush in size until he was satisfied he was comfortable with it. Finally, he read the blackboard for the final spell to practice. Riktusempra....my specialty. Tristan had cast the Tickling Charm multiple times already and knew he could do it properly. He took the time to watch the others in the class perform the various spells.
