Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? TBA Posts: 531 Group: External Citizen Member #29 Joined: Jan 9 2007	Mac entered the class room Mac waved his wand at the board and at once the notes wrote themselves out in Mac's handwriting. Mac sat on his desk swinging his legs underneath him and waited patiently for the students to file into the class room. Behind him the notes appeared in full. This will be a 3 part class. As your exams are coming up there are certain spells you will need to know as a part of your exams. The four spells are, Petrificus Totalus, the body bind charm, Engorgio, the growth charm, Reducio, Engorgios counter charm and in it's own right a shrinking charm and Rickusempra, the tickling charm. Firstly, Petrificus Totalus is the Full Body Bind spells. The spell, when properly performed will make the arms and legs snap together and freeze the target. The wand movement is a simple flick of the wrist while speaking the incantation of "Petrificus Totalus". Secondly, Engorgio, the growth charm, makes an object swell, results vary on power of wizard or power of the spell. The wand movement is a simple stab Thirdly, Reducio, the counter charm to Engorgio, makes objects shrink. Again results may vary and the wand movements are the same. Finally, Ricktusempra, is the tickling charm. Makes the target burst into laughter, when performed at full strength the jinx will render the target unable to do anything but laugh. The wand movement is a stabbing motion. Divide into pairs after copying down the notes and attempt jinxes.

Second Year Posts: 179 Group: Hufflepuff Member #136 Joined: May 19 2007	Merrick found him dragging his feet as he walked into Charms. Once more he was faced with the impending knowledge that he had to do wandwork. He had started to get a bit better after taking on board Professor Aphelion's advice but he still struggled. At the memory of the Transfiguration Professor's words he realised that he was his own problem. If you weren't so afraid of doing magic it wouldn't be such a problem. He made a vow to himself to stop being so intimidated by using his wand and by everyone else and just to try his best. Even if he failed it didn't matter because few get it right first go. He took a seat near the front of the classroom feeling slightly bolder than when he entered. He looked up at Professor MacDonald and gave a small smile. The Professor was friendly enough and was Merrick's Head of House. "Good morning, Professor." He realised the board had the day's work on it and he quickly read through before grabbing out his textbook and reading up on the spells mentioned.

Unregistered	August walked into the Charms classroom. She took a seat at a table to the right of where another boy was already seated. She was excited for this class as it had always been her mother's least favorite and anything her mother didn't like she knew she would love! She placed her textbook 'The Standard Book of Spells' on the desk and opened up to the page that contained details on the Body Bind Charm. She began to read with interest.

Hopefully, you are also this prompt with your exam preperation" Mac said to the students. "The notes for you to take down are on the board and I think I will share a little secret with you. These two will be highly helpful in your revision notes as they play an importance on your exams. Obvcourse all the matter which I have taught will be on your exams but this will be especially helpful" Mac said winking to the two students. OOC: I know some people aren't taking the exam but go along with it.

She hoped he didn't mind; he was the only one she'd talked to much, so she instinctively was sitting near him. She copied what was on the board, smiling at Professor MacDonald when she finished. Then she turned to Merrick, whispering, "Do you want to be partners for this?"

He pulled out his textbook and parchment before contiuing to dwell on the unfairness of it. Not an excuse?!? Dark Magic on 11 year olds isn't an excuse!? He pulled out his wand and twirled it angrily in his fingers, the pleasant cool of the wood doing nothing for his temper.

She scribbled the notes from the board, but didn't pay much attention as her mind was on their little outing that was planned for later that night. why are you going? she thought, pausing in her notes. you've already lost you're house five points, why make it worse for yourself?

She didn't want to see the angry looks her friends would give her and so without saying a word, she sat next to Tristan and began to copy the notes. She just wanted this day to end so hopefully she would awake and realize it had all been a bad dream.

He quickly took the notes off the board. He smiled when he realized that the first spell was the body-bind charm followed by spells which would be very helpful on tonights little adventure. He turned to August "wanna be my partner?" John asked a little nervous, he figured Tristan and Riley would go together and Nat would go with Ella who was sitting up the back and looking to avoid attention. John shrugged his shoulder and turned to the front again.

He preferred Nat but there was no denying her looks. He giggled to himself as John firted with her and partnered with her. He returned his attention to his textbook, shaking his head as he did so. The moment had lifted his mood back to his usual self and he decided not to let the History of Magic incident bring him down anymore and he vowed to lift Riley back up too as she was still on the verge of tears beside him. He leaned closer to her, "Hey, Riles, you reckon John has a chance with the new girl? I think she might think she's a bit too good for him," he whispered cheekily.

She slapped him gently on the arm as she said this and turned Tristan's head so it was no longer looking at John and the Gryffindor girl. She bothered to absorb the notes written on her parchment as she had read them with little care before. She realised they had several new Charms to learn today and she pulled out her wand, "Be my partner, Tris. Let's practice the Body Bind. Come on!" She grabbed his hand and attempted to pull him to his feet.

"Split into partners and find your own space, we will now be practising the spells on the board" Mac said and with one whip of his wand the desks where pushed to the side and the floor was covered in soft fluffy pillows.

John then found a quiet spot for himself and August. "You want to try first?" John said, already knowing that he could perform the body-bind jinx having tried it on Tristan in Herbology. He couldn't wait to earn some points from the professor for it. OOC: August, when you post god mode me to say whether the spell hits or not and the effects as it's not worth waiting half a day for me to reply.

They found themselves a space apart from the rest of the class and he positioned himself several feet away to give them enough room. "Let's do this," he called to her. He flicked his wand to the appropriate position, steadying himself with a deep breath. "Petrificus Totalus," he spoke clearly and gave a deft flick of his wand. A jet of light hurled itself from his wandtip and headed towards Riley. He had cast the spell successfully the previous night in the dueling club and was confident in his ability to cast it now.

She knew he was the better dueler but she had the theoretical knowledge and the desire to allow her to win. She had her own wand held ready as Tristan fired the Body Bind at her. She countered with, "Protego," and the spell diffused harmlessly as it struck her shield. Continuing the fluid motion she returned fire with her own Body Bind charm, "Petrificus Totalus" and flicked her wand as she ahd seen numerous people do when casting the same spell. Her charm would surely hit Tristan and she would finally beat him at his own game. She grinned expectantly.

Posts: 2,756 Group: Ravenclaw Member #114 Joined: Mar 9 2007	Tristan ahd not expected her to cast a Shield at all and so was caught totally by surprise when she didn't immediately fall to the ground under the bind. He expected her to return fire even less so and was struck squarely in the stomach by the charm, whereby his legs and arms snapped to his sides and he fell to the stone floor with a soft buh! All he could do was move his eyes and watch the ceiling.

I wonder if Jack taught them that Mac said, watching Riley in motion and noticing it had the same tendancies and movements that Jack usually did when producing his own sheild spell. "Very good miss Blade, however, we are going to let the jinx hit us, this is not a duel it is a test of ability to do the spell and it's desired effect. I know it is not easy to think like this when the spell is coming at you, but you must not think about the spell. You must relax your body" Mac instructed.
