| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. New format system for House points, please vote once and once only. Once you have voted please post in the thread to know, this way when we count up the votes it should be equal to the number of posts. Please post A.S.A.P when you get on. To the topic: I have noticed that the house points system in Hogwarts has been running a little slow recently, half of the blame may lie on M.A and not updating it and half may lie on the teachers for not giving enough points out. Whatever, either way the house points situation is dire. However, a new fix with Harry Potter Trivia to reward the person who gets the correct and fastest answer with closest correct spelling wins the house points for their house, this way it tests the knowledge, adds a bit of fun into it, and re-vamps the house competition. |

I vote no because it will be too easy and bias towards whoever is on at the time. Plus people have multiple characters so they can ask with one and answer with the other. Personally I think we cna do better than the trvia, but of course I agree with Professors giving points out. As has been said to the current batch of students are fairly troublesome, hence why all negatives. ![]() Once this party is over and we get back into class I think if Professors make an effort the point system will kickstart. |

perhaps I should make this clearer, Professors will still have the power this is an auxiliary method of house points. Tristan, you have seen proof that no matter what happens classes go on for too long with little activity for house points it would require house points to be doled out quickly and for almost no reason. This RP has the disadvantage of not having older years, or quidditch matches. This method would subsidies points won by older students. If this fails or we do not have the need for the system anymore then it can be gotten rid of. This is a progressive idea. |

Yes I know that and if you all want to then of course I'll go along with it, but I do think there is more we can do. Im not sure what that is yet but Ill think of it. ![]() Also, when classes resume I would really like to see them go quicker, as long as we have active teachers Im sure they can run smoother. Plus we arent waiting for MA to end the class anymore, myself or our new deputy can do that.

Tris, I am still confused to why you are against this idea. What more do you want, by no way is anything set in stone, there are perfectly good reasons for the trivia, I've addressed your previous points. If someone wants to cheat that badly who cares, wouldn't you want a system though that accurately tests your knowledge against the knowledge of others on the site. We're all clearly fans of the series here and if you aren't then why would you be on a Harry Potter based role play. It is not like the trivia has to be too difficult. If classes go quicker there is less time and opportunity for house points to be doled out. To quote the book directly it clearly states that in the first book McGonagall says "your house is like your family" and "your triumphs will gain you house points, while any rule breaking will lose you house points"(Both found on page 85). Hogwarts has a very competitive spirit around it, whether in the house cup, the quidditch cup or just plain academic results. |

John I am allowed my opinion even if I cannot adequately defend it. But of course I will support the trivia if that is what the majority wants which the poll indicates they do. |

are they not a form as punishment and reward? How can you punish and reward someone when the form of punishment and reward is futile because it's in negatives. The house points system is a shambles. I agree there is nothing special about house points, doesn't mean we shouldn't have a system that means house point mean something. Look at the books, I would have figured anyone reading the books can see the quasi-importance of the house cup. It's supposed to be something of pride and a sense of competitiveness. All those that agree that Columbus did Harry Potter really well in a movie look at the house points scene at the end of Harry Potter and the Philosophers/ Sorcerers Stone. That is how house points should be. It may not be an integral part of R.P but it should play some significance if we are to replicate the real Hogwarts. |

OK everyone I've made the forum for the HP trivia for the Housepoints so any and all teachers can start posting questions. I'm not sure how you want it to work but maybe make it no more than 3 questions per post and 5 points for a correct answer. Or maybe the person has to get all 3 answers right to get the points? Also, all teachers have student characters as well so I ask that they not answer their own questions as it would be unfair. Otherwise, go for it! I'll monitor the thread so teachers if someone answers correctly and deserves points please make it clearly known in the thread and I will adjust the scores. And I ask that you maybe follow a common template for the questions so it's easier to follow. OK I'll shut up now.
