| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. After strolling the corridors for a while, he decided to wander the Grounds. He exited the great doors and watched a 1st year flying class. Some students were succeeding in hovering, some quite well, whilst others were struggling to even grasp their brooms. He continued on and spotted the Forbidden Forest rising before him. Remembering the existence of the centaur herd living inside and the words of the tribe leader of the centaur herd with which he had lived, he decided to see if he could make contact with them. If he was to be living here for many years it would be worthwhile being on good terms with the local herd. I wish you well in your journeys, Nate. You have restored some of the faith in wizardkind we once had. I only wish more wizards and witches were like you, seekers of knowledge and enlightenment. As a final parting gift I will tell you this: I have encountered the tribe leader of the centaur herd living near Hogwarts. His name is Moran and with my blessing you will be accepted as a friend into their presence. Go now, friend, and remember what you have learned here, for we shall not forget what you have taught us.... As the words faded from his mind he breached the outer edge of the Forbidden Forest and stepped forth into its midst. As though the volume knobs had been turned down by invisible hands, the sounds from the outside world ceased immediately upon entering the forest. The light from the sun above failed to penetrate the canopy above his head and the darkness extended as far as he could see. He removed his wand from his robes and lit it, casting a bright beam of light in all directions. Nate noticed a trodden path in front of him and decided this was the best bet for finding the centaur herd. Holding his wand above him to see his footing, he walked forward and followed the path. Looking into the depths on either side of the track he caught the occasional glimpse of eyes staring back at him, or the odd movement of creatures moving about, trying to escape the disturbance he created. He had studied Care of Magical Creatures back in his school days and had read many books on the magical creatures of Britain so he had a good idea of what to expect, but he was still cautious of encountering any of the more dangerous ones. Still, he was a talented wizard and was comfortable that he could handle himself properly. Reaching a fork in the path he paused and examined the ground before him. He noticed the odd hoof print on the path to the left and decided this was the correct direction to take. Heading along it, he walked for almost half an hour before an arrow shot past his head and he heard a voice speaking, loud and with determination, "Stop, human. Your kind are not welcome here. Speak your purpose or be killed." He was used to centaur pride and was aware of the appropriate method in which to greet and appear humble. He lay his wand on the ground slowly and rose to meet the eyes of his assailant, "I come in search of knowledge and not of wizard domination. I have been sent by Guiros, the leader of the centaur tribe in Montenegro. I seek your permission to meet with your tribe leader whom I understand is Moran. Will you allow me to enter your lands?" He knew that centaurs would not accept him if he appeared to be dictating the terms of their meeting. They must be the ones to state the terms and control the interaction, lest they feel that the wizard is dominating them. This is until the wizard is accepted by the tribe at which point he is considered equal. Watching the centaur guard with a steady gaze, he noted the deep auburn colour of his coating and the various scars that lined his muscled torso. He held taught a bow and arrow of fine quality as he appraised the newcomer. After several moments the centaur lowered his bow and nodded, "Very well, human. You are familiar with centaur custom and speak of a leader with which we are on good terms. You are permitted to enter our lands and meet with Moran. Though should he not like what you have to say....", he let the threat hang to deliver his meaning more poignantly. He motioned for Nate to follow him and set off on a winding path. Nate picked up his wand and placed it back inside his robes. With a centaur guard he woul not be attacked by any of the tribe nor any creatures. Also, it would prove his keenness not to exert his will over the centaurs. After several minutes and multiple shocked stares from the odd centaur of the tribe, they emerged in a clearing where several guards stood surrounding a proud looking centaur that Nate assumed to be Moran. This creature motioned for the others to step down, at which point they melted into the surrounding trees. Though they now appeared alone, he knew that he was being watched very closely by hidden eyes and tightly held bows..... He repeated his greeting to whom he assumed was Moran and awaited to be spoken to. Minutes passed before the centaur spoke, "I am told you speak of Guiros. It has been too long since last our paths crossed, though the stars tell me they will again. What is your purpose in the lands of the centaurs?" Nate spread his arms out before him, "I am a great studyer of all schools of knowledge, but the stars are my true passion. I have studied extensively with Guiros in his land of Montenegro but now am here to teach Astronomy at Hogwarts. I was told it would be beneficial to be on speaking terms with yourself and your tribe. Guiros also told me that there is much you could teach me and much I could teach you. I am here today to initiate what I hope will be a lasting relationship, but I know that choice resides with you. I await your verdict." He bowed forward and patiently waited for Moran to speak. However, he heard Moran step forward until he was next to Nate. Though his eyes were directed at the ground, he could not avoid the centaur's gaze as he had lowered his head until he was looking up into Nate's eyes. "I sense much courage in you, for only the bravest would dare to venture here to ask such a request. You are possibly one of a kind who has become friendly with a centaur tribe. I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request.....but I have faith in the word of Guiros, and should he accept you as worthy of centaur respect, so too do I. Arise and be equal, human." Nate stood straight and turned to face Moran directly. He held his right arm out and watched Moran grasped it with his own. "Moran," the centaur stated clearly, "Nate," he replied. "It is done." The ceremony was complete. He was now accepted in the tribe as an equal and could venture onto the lands when he wished, but only ever alone. To bring a foreign person onto the lands would forfeit the friendship of the centaurs. Nate nodded at Moran in thanks, before the centaur walked over to a nearby log, indicating Nate should sit. Lowering himself onto the log, the pair began to discuss all range of matters, as the afternoon sun slowly continued its descent high above their heads and the trees. |

After much time had passed, Nate rose from his seat and decided to return to the castle, as dinner was approaching and he was quite hungry. "Thankyou for your acceptance here, Moran. It shall not be forgotten. I hav enjoyed today immensely, you know much that I can learn. I shall return when time permits. Farewell, my friend." Moran nodded at Nate's words and turned to walk away into the darkness surrounding the clearing. Watching him leave, Nate turned on the spot and apprated to the gates of Hogwarts. Parts of the forest were within Hogwarts walls and enchantments so apparition was not possible, but the centaur lands were well outside this area and he could apparate to the gates of the great castle without complication. Turning on the spot, Nate apparated out of the Forbidden Forest and to outside the Grounds of Hogwarts. |

James walked along the path of the shreiking shack, it looked like it had been lived in previously. The path seemed as though it edged back towards Hogwarts, he thought of the warm beds and the nice food made by the house elves. He was hungry, thirsty and tired. He had been awake all night in fear that they would catch him. When he assumed it was safe he snuck back across Hogsmeade but noticed that the Hogwarts gates were sealed. He rested in the only place that wasn't being inhibited by another wizard, The Shreiking Shack. The path was low but because James was short he did not have to duck his head. He finally made it to the end where the was a hole in the top clearly leading out. He peared out of the hole and saw the fresh green grass of Hogwarts and the forbidden forrest. James remembered the grounds something was wrong, there was no random hole in the middle of the grounds that he could remember, all of a sudden and out of no where a branch came swinging down infront of James' eyes. It couldn't be, he thought, but it must. The Whomping Willow was planted on top of the path. He crept back up to the hole which he had dived away from when he saw the branch. He looked up and saw the coast was clear. He looked at the trunk and saw a small knot of the trunk. Bowing to curiosity he poked the knot and the tree froze. James' gaped in amazement, how many people may know about this? he thought. He could go back to the castle, try to avoid the teachers and steal books and bring them back to the shreiking shack. Perfect, he could learn out of books and teach himself spells and how to be a powerful wizard. It was almost dusk and James scavenged out to Hogsmeade and gathered food from bins. He didn't want to raise suspicion about himself by stealing anything though he did take a daily prophet and read that. Highly facinating, apparently a mysterious individual had been seen around Hogsmeade, he tried to think whether he could have been spotted. He scavenged at dark hours or early in the morning surely no one saw him. James ate a stale loaf of bread and readied himself to go to the library and get begginer charms, transfiguration and dark arts books. |

James peered out. Night time He thought. James crept out of his hiding and with the cover of darkness. The smell of food wafted from the great hall. Excellent, everyone will be befuddled by their dinners to realize me James crept passed the windows and towards the oak front doors making sure he could not be seen or as in conspicous as possible. Jame left the forrest and went into the castle |

James returned to the forest James returned back to the whomping willow without being spotted or running into anyone. He poured the books onto the floor. He removed the deck of cards and placed them to the side. He picked up the charms book and read through it. It was not long before he had picked up many of the spells in the book. He had trouble with a few spells such as the locomotive charm and invisibilty charm. Other then that he had no problems with the spells. He picked up the jinxes book and traced the title with his finger. He needed someone to practise on for most of these. He read the theory, and picked up Jelly legs, Bat Bogey and various other jinxes. He would get revenge |

Unknown lit his wand and ventured into the Forest. He was not afraid as he knew he could take down anything that might cross his path. He continued deep into the Forest for nearly an hour before he found a clearing where he could set up camp. He would not apparate away yet until he had discovered all he could about the ring; he may need to head back into the castle. He pulled from his robes a small object that was actually a tent. He tossed it on the ground and muttered, "Erecto," whereupon the tent immediately assembled itself. He proceeded to cast protective spells around the perimeter to keep out unwanted visiotors and creatures, "Protego Totalus, Cave Inimicum, Salvio Hexia, Protego Muggletum." He sat down inside the tent certain he would not be disturbed now. He held the ring up close to his face and began to examine it closely. |

Julian exploded through some foliage and found himself standing inside the Forbidden Forest. He didn't know where his target was but figured he would find some sort of disturbance he could follow. He quickly glanced behind him and took off as quick as he could, determined to find the man who had tortured him and made him look a fool. He lit his wand, "Lumos," and held it high above him so as to see as far as he could. |

He spotted a few broken saplings and immediately set off following the pathway created by the unknown being. The light from his wand was of little comfort in the black expanse of the Forbidden Forest. Julian preyed that nothing would stop him from finding his prey. |

Nate spotted Julian about 100 yards in front of him and continued his pursuit. The forest was eerily silent, all the creatures ceasing their noisemaking. He lit his wand to provide some light but also cast on himself a spell he had picked up in the Swedish Highlands. He jabbed his wand at his forehead and muttered, "Propero Lapsus," an ingenious charm to enhance one's reflexes, agility and speed. Suddenly Nate found himself moving with little effort yet with much greater speed. He found he didn't need to exert himself as greatly to tread the forest path with ease. In moments he found he had easily caught up to Julian and aimed his wand at the boy, wordlessly silencing, stupefying and cushioning the boy's fall. |

Julian suddenly found himself unable to move as he fell towards the ground. He expected a rush of pain as he made contact but his fall was cushioned as if by an invisible hand. He made to cry out but his mouth moved uselessly. He knew immediately that the Professor had caught up to him. Give me this chance......let me exact my revenge on the man who did this to me.......please.... |

Nate stood the boy up and faced him directly, "Julian, listen to me. You have no chance whatsoever of defeating this man. I know who he is and I know for a fact that even I am facing the possibility of death at his hand. Now," he took a deep breath as he knew what he was about to suggest was not in the boy's best interests, "if I permit you to come with me, will you remain hidden and not interfere, whatever may happen? Will you promise me that?" He waved his wand and removed the enchantments holding the boy in place. |

Julian gritted his teeth as he found himself able to move once more. He glared at the Professor and considered the request. I can follow the Professor, have his protections on me, and still manage to inflict my revenge on the man once the Professor has him subdued. I can still get back at him.... he decided to himself. He nodded silently. "I promise, Professor. But promise you'll hurt the man. Cause him the pain he caused me." |

He nodded, neither acknowledging or denying the boy's request. He had the feeling the boy was just telling him what he wanted to hear but now was not the time to argue. They were deep within the forest and likely nearing the camp of Danka Tirisfal. "Alright then. Stand still while I conceal you." Nate pointed his wand at Julian and cast a number of concealment and protective spells on him. Finally, he rapped the boy on the head and cast a disillusionment charm over him. He nodded, satisfied the boy was quite well hidden and protected from harm's way. Next he began to twirl his wand in the air, like a lasso, muttering as he did so. He was casting a revealing spell that would reveal to him if Danka Tirisfal was near. The spell revealed he was about another 500 yards east of where they stood. "Our man is this way, Julian. Stay behind me yet stay close. One false move and I'll hex you myself." He set off in the direction he knew Danka was in. |

Julian looked down at his body and found he could not see it. He was completely invisible. Not only that he felt invincible as well. The Professor had made him almost impossible to attack. The Professor is unbelievable! He knows so much magic! I have to learn it! Julian vowed to learn as much magic as possible so next time he wouldn't need the help of anyone else. He could get his own revenge on those who deserved it. Like John and Tristan... he thought angrily to himself. He fell into step behind the Professor, making sure to stay close lest Professor Aphelion change his mind about him. OOC: We'll need to wait for Unknown to log in. I'll PM him and let him know we need him. |

Unknown had studied the ring for some time and he believed he had discovered the basis of its power. The ring seemed to have an advanced magic amplifier charm placed upon it but it was different to what it should be. The charm itself was incredibly difficult to perform at the best of times and usually faded after use of ones magic stores. However, this ring was tuned specifically for magic of the Dark kind and seemed to not fade over time. The ring was essentially immortal. |

Professor Aphelion with Julian in tow stopped suddenly. He had sensed something. He made to take another step but found himself unable to do so, as if the air in front of him desired him to walk elsewhere but forward. He turned to Julian, "We have reached the perimeter surrounding his camp. He has set up magical protection to ward off unwanted visitors. It will take me some time to bring them down, enough for us to get through." He began to wave his wand in unusual shapes and mutter under his breath, a look of deep concentration on his face. |

After several minutes of intense spellwork Nate lowered his wand. "It is done. We should now be able to penetrate the area. But we must be quick lest they reignite." He grabbed the boys hand and pulled him through the temporarily lowered shields. "It is not an easy task to break through protective shields. There are few who know how. Now again I am telling you: stay hidden and do not get involved. Let me capture the man and he will be turned over to the authorities. You risk your life by revealing your presence." Nate's attention spun back to his front, his eyes narrowed. He held his wand tightly down by his side, ready to attack at a seconds notice. |

Unknown paused in his final examination of the ring. He cocked his head and listened intently. He had thought he had heard a noise off in the distance. After several minutes he was convinced he had been hearing things. His defensive shields were after all inpenetrable. Still, he rose from his stool, the ring in one hand, his wand in the other, and began to walk quietly forward to be sure he was truly alone. |
