PokéDevices are the Haysu region's answer to the PokéDex. It is a handy little gizmo tailored to help a trainer progress through their adventure in whatever way suits them. Just as a PokéDex does, the PokéDevice will record the many kinds of live pokemon that you see on your journey (please note that the PokéDevice cannot detect deceased pokemon), along with detailed information on the pokemon that you've captured.

Where it differed from the PokéDex is the customizability of the PokéDevice. It allows you to subscribe to and receive newsletters about things that interest you (ie: sales at Pokemarts, berry information, etc.) should you sign up for them, as well as important updates about your job/s, and you can even receive e-mails from friends and/or rivals (both real and NPC) that you've met, some of which may contain gifts, requests for battles and useful information. There are many other things that a PokéDevice is capable of, but you will have to purchase such features as up-grades from stores as they become available.

Newsletters will be received through your PM inbox, so it will be up to you to check on them, whilst messages relating to your job and e-mails will be received in-character. PokéDevice data will be kept in your profile as a separate post, similar to the following example:

Pokemon Caught: 4
Growlithe: Information on your pokemon goes here.  You may choose which PokeDex entry you would like to be displayed here.
Ledyba: "It is timid and clusters together with others. The fluid secreted by its feet indicates its location." (Crystal)
Hoothoot: "Hoothoot has an internal organ that senses and tracks the earth's rotation. Using this special organ, this Pokémon begins hooting at precisely the same time every day." (Sapphire)
Poochyena: "A Pokémon with a persistent nature, it chases its chosen prey until the prey becomes exhausted." (Diamond)

Newsletters Subscribed to: "Staffport Berry Suppliers", "Ranger Station #1 Forest Watch" (examples of newsletters that you may subscribe to - the berry one would tell you what berries are being sold in Staffport and when the sales are on, the Ranger Station one would let you know if anything is happening in your area)

Friends: Jimmy Sunshine, Gertrude Kupmin, Luke. (You may have NPC friends and you may have other members as friends, but obviously to be friends with another person's character you have to meet with them.  Friends will send you e-mails with gifts and useful information.)

Rivals: Rululu Okekeke, Pongo the violent Banjoist, Noah Asurada. (As with friends, you may also have rivals, whether they be NPC or other members, but once again, you must meet with another person's character before you can become rivals with them.  Rivals will send you e-mails challenging you to battles or alerting you to contests that they plan on taking part in.)

PokéNET is the computer system that has recently been set up across Haysu. They are multiple consoles set up in Pokemon Centres in every village, town and city in Haysu, but they are provided by a private company and as such are not free to use. The standard fee is $5 for 15 minutes of usage (or simply put, it is $5 per 'action' with the PokéNET system), though there will be times when this service becomes cheaper (promotional happy hours, for example). PokéNET is both a computer and online service accessible by trainers that provides a highly acclaimed job search function, allowing you to search for available jobs across Haysu with just a few clicks.

In order to maximize the quality of your PokéNET experience, it is highly recommended that you insert your PokéDevice into your PokéNET console. As soon as you insert your PokéDevice, the PokéNET console will let you know what pokemon you've seen/caught, as well as tell you detailed information about newly caught pokemon (such as it's move list, moves that it is capable of learning and moves that it will level up to learn). For certain milestones (sighting or capturing a large amount of pokemon), you may be eligible to receive a small prize from the PokéNET system.

With your PokéDevice still inserted, you may make use of PokéNET's very convenient pokemon search function. With the click of a button, PokéNET will search for a specific pokemon's location out of all of the locations that you've previously visited. If PokéNET can't find the pokemon, you will be told the location of another pokemon of the same type that you've seen and been in the same area as. If you haven't been to an area with any of that type of Pokemon at all, you will be notified of this instead.

Finally, there is the much anticipated item and pokemon storage feature. This allows you to safely store or withdraw pokemon and items into our PokéNET system. Your PokéDevice will act as your own personal ID, so there is no need to worry about other trainers having access to your pokemon and items.

The following is an in-character example of how one might use the PokeNET console:
Quote:

Trainer: I insert $15 into a computer to use PokéNet.  Once the machine boots up I decide to start off with a job search, because that was my last $15.
Judge: After thoroughly searching through the database, the computer comes up with a number of jobs for you.  There's vacancies for Pokemon Rangers (a descriptive quote will be placed here), P.U.M.P. officers (a descriptive quote will be placed here), Field Reporters (a descriptive quote will be placed here), and a very shady looking site advertising a water-type pokemon lover's club called the Laguna (a descriptive quote will be placed here).  A small pop-up window alerts you to the fact that you have $10 credit remaining.

Trainer: I note down the details of the Pokemon Ranger and Field Reporter jobs, those both sound like they might be easy for me to do.  I'm not really into the whole police scene so I'll just ignore the P.U.M.P. thing, and the Laguna stuff looks a little too suspicious for my liking.  I insert my PokeDevice to see how I'm progressing.
Judge: A message on the screen tells you that you've seen 12 live pokemon and caught 4.  It goes on to tell you that once you've seen 20 pokemon you'll be eligible for a prize!
A flashy pop-up window alerts you to the fact that Poochyena is a newly caught pokemon.  The computer begins to show you various bits of useful information about your new friend, including moves that it knows, moves that it can learn and moves that it will eventually know.  It goes on to tell you that he will evolve at level 18. A small pop-up window alerts you to the fact that you have $5 credit remaining.

Trainer: I take my time memorizing Poochyena's moves (Covet, Tackle and Howl) and the techniques that he'll be learning soonest (Sand-Attack at lvl 9, Bite at lvl 13).  Seeing that I don't have much time left, I scroll through the pokemon that I've seen to check if there's any I really want to capture.  My friend Jimmy Sunshine was really impressed with my Ledyba the other day, and I think it'd be a nice surprise for him if I caught him a bug type of his own.  I think he'd like a Wurmple, so I'll search for that.
Judge: After spending several minutes searching, the computer comes up with no results.  You haven't yet travelled to an area where Wurmple are found, but the computer lets you know that Weedle, another Bug/Poison-type, are commonly found in Demo Forest as a consolation for your search turning up zero results.  A large pop-up window then appears, and the computer locks you out - you've $0 credit remaining, if you wish to continue using PokeNet you'll need to buy more.

Trainer: Satisfied with my search results, I head out to Demo Forest to look for Weedle...
