Today, June 26th, I would like to formally announce that Friction has been closed permanently. It is never to return. It will however, stay in this state of a "archived status" where you all will be able to come online and post if you want. But this is how the forum will remain, offline and closed, while technically online. Here are a few words from each of the admins. Numark - What can I say? Friction has been an amazing forum and we had an amazing run. Friction has been a major part of the Zetaboards community. I have had a blast here, and believe it or not, Friction has been a huge part of my childhood. I have good memories of all the good times, and all of the great people I have met. I am not sad at Friction closing for good. This is a very happy day, and as one thing ends, another begins. Thanks everyone! Gary - Friction unfortunately, as many of us know it, is no longer the thriving community it once was back in 2006. Over my time here at Friction, we have overcome many obstacles and gone from strength to strength as a welcoming and successful general chat forum. With the supervision of many fantastic administrators and staff (the likes of Tue in the beginning, Numark, and now to Nivexonix) Friction has demonstrated time and time again how a forum community should be run, and indeed how people from all walks of life can enjoy the simple pleasures that a chat forum can offer, together. I would like to thank each and every member who has made Friction such an enjoyable and worthy place to chat, it has been an excellent few years and the people I have spoke with have been friendly and welcoming. I will not forget Friction anytime soon, so once again - thank you for the good times, and indeed the times that we have pulled through and become stronger. Everything has to come to an end at some point, and unfortunately much to my dismay - this is Friction's time. Nivexonix - It has been quite a joy ride here at Friction. When it first opened, I did not register. It looked great though, and Tue kept the board up and alive. I'm glad I joined so close to the when the forum opened though. It has been a joy to work on the forum and while it has had its ups and downs, I think it can be remembered for the good times. I don't know what expectations Tue had for Friction, but I fully believe that the forum has been successful. While it did not have hundreds of thousands of posts nor tens of thousands of members, it had a community within it. Regardless of what the forum has been through, I think that the core Friction group really enjoyed the forum and that's what it was there for. Friction was there for those people who just wanted a place to relax and enjoy themselves. It provided that to them, and I hope those of you who really enjoyed Friction continue to enjoy the forums you visit. I've learned many lessons during the time I had here of Friction, most recently with my administrative tenure. I gave up on my own forum for Friction. But, I can't take credit for making it what it is. As a collective member base, we made the forum what is it. I have to thank all of you who have contributed to the forum over the time it has been around. I haven't administrated Friction as long as others nor done as much as others, but I smile at the thought of being able to pay a community back that has paid itself back in so many ways. So, I hope you all the best in what you continue to do. Yes, all 2,868 of you. You contributed to the forum by registering, and so many of you took it the next step by posting and enjoying yourself. That is what is great. Thank you all for the memories! I hope this closure brings about that new light. As the great Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” |

No! not Friction. Well, I was kind of expecting this since the 2009 community wasn't putting any effort anymore. I will dearly miss Friction. If only there was anything I could do...

I love Friction, it's sad to see it go. Even though I haven't always been active, I'm happy to say I've had a part in it since 2006. The best to everyone here, hopefully I'll see you guys around. I've been off forums for a year, but I promise you all - There'll be more of me. Until then, farewell... |

Bummer, but you could tell it was gonna happen. I was just starting to get active here again, but it was clear that it wasn't going anywhere. I loved my time here, so it's something to be proud of, and I'm glad I could contribute to the one-time success. |
