Hi All
Just joined and thought i'd pop in and say hello and see who'll join me for a drink? i believe as a Newbie its drinks on me !!!

I bought a 1978 Fizzy a good 6 or 7 months back and it transported me back 30(odd) years. I had 3 as a kiddy growing up in Lincolnshire village life and it was the same all over the country i suppose.. mines faster than yours... arguments.. fisticuffs with AP50 and SS50 mates

Anyway, ive a 1978 Blue Fizzy in absolutely remarkable condition for 37 years young. from what i cant tell its original in every way and unrestored but in incredible "nick" for its age. matching numbers frame and engine and just 5776 miles from new... yep... that's right! runs incredibly well and really is a lovely little time capsule. Starts 1st kick and sounds great.

Was really chuffed when i got it and i had little trundle up the road and back... trouble is the euphoria sort of waned a tad so it sits in my house and i look at it and wonder if its doing it justice or if its right to just have it sat there.. I may take the decision to offer it up to a true and "proper" enthusiast so its kept as it should be. i do not want a trophy and i don't want to keep something for myself just because i had one 32 years ago. as with a lot of things the reality vs the dream are a tad different and it may have been a snap buy....

I'm really chuffed i did get it for the few months i have had it but more importantly.... its not in the damp shed it was in and i consider me finding it a huge plus as if not it may have been left to deteriorate and be lost forever! so while ive maybe had my fun on it and its time to pass on to the right person...... it will only go to where it should go, someone who will love it and cherish it and preserve it/use it

Now while i had 3 as a kiddie.. I'm no expert!! Anyone help me with info ? Does anyone know of someone looking for a very VERY clean original example? Someone who is looking for what i consider that something special. Of course I'm a tad bias as its mine but.... ive not seen one like mine that's not seen a full resto. yes it has a few odd spots of rust on the rear springs and the wheels could do with a days Auto Sol and a rag but... for 37 years old its incredible..

If anyone on here is genuinely after a lovely Fizzy and can provide what i cant.... this could be the bike for you. Ive joined here as ive had my fun and relived my teens but.. this Fizzy needs to be with someone who knows more, will use it and keep it the way it should be kept. Ive never had any plans to restore it or flash it up.. its simply too nice just as it is and for me it SHOULD show its age..

I'm happy to contacted on moby - text please during office hours - 07979 746755 or email john@espi.net

Please please PLEASE though - only if you are genuinely interested and will ensure its upkeep. The Fizzy is located near Huntingdon/St Ives and I'm 100% happy for anyone to come and see it / hear it and give it a good look over.

cheers for help and any advise
Stoli !

We need to know the price you want, its forum policy.

If you want it to go to the highest bidder, then ebay is a good bet.

Yes, i do need to make my mind up.... i didn't start the thread with the ultimate aim of selling in mind. i popped in a hello and it just sort of ended up with me gabbling on! i do not want to put it on ebay as i would prefer it goes to a true enthusiast and someone who would do the right thing.. the best place to find that person is here i guess and it would only be right to pop a hello and ive got this in here...

ebay has its merits but its not where some things need to be.. i didn't join to only advertise it. my thread just sort or ended up with me realising that maybe I need to leave what i did at 14/15/16 behind !!! now at 47 its nice to go back to those days but...... its only a pipe dream and eve n tho i have my Fizzy and its a hoot.. I'm still 47, chubby, grey and knackered !!

Understand its forum policy - erm ... i need to think of a price but i need to do a bit of looking as ive not really the experise to offer a true reflective price

can i have a bit to think !!???

I'm not trying anything on.. not like that. Just feel that if it going to be up for grabs this is the best place to ensure its on-going life. not ebay

To be honest, with the prices we pay, I think we are all enthusiast, regardless of where they are bought from

Maybe ask the opinions of people on here as to what the asking price might be.

Personally, having looked at it, and its original and genuine, I would say possibly £1300 to £1600.

That's just my opinion.

But a fixed price is a must. Lord knows we all compete on ebay, so why bring it in here.

i am looking into various sites that have for sale or have sold a very similar age and will update

I'm afraid none of them have been as low as 1300 to 1600..

i wouldn't ever let it be that low

Ive just had a look on ebay to see what if there are any current ones for sale.

there are only 2 listed currently

1975 with 13k miles . currently at £3200 (16 bids) and 1 day left to run

1976 with 17k miles . currently at £3200 (2 bids) and 22hrs left to run

i don't feel 1300 to 1600 is a fair guide for mine with just 5700 miles on and in very similar condition. these have not ended yet and they are double what ive been suggested.

more thoughts needed !!

Don't think you can compare yours to them, especially the Popsi
Just my opinion

any specific reasons they aren't comparable? i'd be keen to understand.

Ive only posted 1 pic and relatively short info. mine has less miles, is completely original, in lovely condition. has a spare exhaust and a few bits n bobs. a brochure from 1978 in the same colour, a booklet. runs perfectly and is ready to ride away bar an MOT which it would sail through I'm 100% confident.
mine is unfettled and for 37 years old is remarkable. for those that want orininality its perfect... even down to the number plate etc. yes it needs some spit n polish but show me any unrestored bike in this condition !
others have new parts and stuff so youre not buying what came out the factory with it.

I'm not an expert of course but when i saw it and was buying i was taking into account that its as it left Yamaha and this was a huge plus as many you see these days have new parts on which to me is a detractor as its not original.

with the above in mind i really would never have thought its worth less than half those for sale currently?

Well I'm certainly no expect, but yours is less desirable to the others, I have watched nearly every Fizzy for the last 9 months and your model never comes close to the value of the early models, yours is not the pedal model and I should imagine it is restricted?

I have been trying to put a link from one that was sold on ebay back in March like yours without any luck, it was a 1978 model and went for just under £1400, I wouldn't know how it compares to yours?

I think maybe the only way you will know the true value is to put it on ebay with a reserve and see

All of the above is only my opinion, others may disagree and please don't take it any other way, I am only trying to help

There are far more knowledgeable guys on here, so maybe some might come along and give you the opinion

from my understanding its got the unrestricted exhaust on it as mentioned in 1st post. (i also have the original exhaust)

i do see what you mean however, in no way do i think that anything that's been mentioned means mine is worth less than half the ones up at the moment.

it looks like it will remain in the house. this isn't a great worry as if i postion it right the wife may well polish it if i can disguise it as an ornament !!!
