Help needed please! I've rebuilt my 1975 fizzy clutch and think I've done it correctly but when I pull the clutch lever in I can feel resistence about half way in and if I pull lever further in the cable pulls out off the small clutch arm in the casing. I've nipped the arm up a bit to grip the cable end but still pulls out. Any ideas as to what's going wrong please? Thank

I've just tried to push the rod that goes through the engine to the clutch basket and it won't shift so I'm guessing something wrong basket side? Another clutch side strip down?

You've probably got the angle of the arm wrong. It should make approximately 90 degrees to the cable with the clutch lever about half way in. It's not always possible to achieve this in practice on a pedal fizzy without the arm hitting the rear sprocket output shaft when the lever is released, but you should get it as close as possible.

Adjust the angle by adjusting the cable. Do this with the adjuster screw and lock nut backed off. Adjust the screw and lock nut last after you have adjusted the cable.

You won't be able to push the rod in by hand, so that is't a sign that's somethings wrong.

Ditto what Mark has said. Should'nt need to nip anything up as this will just make the cable operation heavier.
Don't try to pull against any resistance as this could end up cracking the nylon worm gear. If you have resistance then you have still got something wrong.

I have, on one occasion, had the clutch arm snag on the transmit/ pedal engage fork.
Could this be a possibility?
Post a photo of your setup! Maybe someone can see something.

Solved the problem, I was a nipple short!
The small barrel that goes on the end of the clutch cable and sits in the arm was missing, hence when I pulled clutch lever and soon as it became under pressure,it popped out of the arm! Whoops! Fitted one now and all working fine.
