I have just taken the outer tubes off my forks(for respaying) and noticed that one of the metal rings underneath the screwed collar( I presume to keep oils seal and collar from falling down) that is on the stanchion has a piece missing, I cant seem to find the ring in the parts list, also there was no "O" ring on that stanchion so maybe that's whats caused it to break?

I will make sure it has a "O" ring on when reassembled, but I want to put a new metal ring on also, so any idea whats it called and any pointers to where I can get one

Hope that makes sense

Cheers

Ha Ha!

Lucky you, will be joining you soon? that's on the lash not the Costa ;)

Here you go then, I have coloured the broken area in black(on the photo not the stanchion) as to make it a bit clearer, I had to push the outer nut upwards to reveal the broken ring

If you look at my collection of forks, 2nd fork up you will see the clip which stops the stanchions coming out of the out legs. Your one looks the same unless you have one missing on the other leg? Looks ok

Looks exactly the same, but I'm sure its not supposed to look like that, the other one has an unbroken ring on it

So would you say just leave it?

I've just checked all these forks and they are all the same with that gap which I assume is for getting them on and off. I would leave it.
