Hi all! :)

Just joined the site and wanted to say hi to you all.

I am in Ipswich in Suffolk and have just bought a 1974 Popsicle Purple Fizzy with a genuine 9k miles from new and only 5 previous owners. Not a minter, but 100% original.

Yes, I have bought it to relive those wonderful days when I ditched my pedal cycle and picked up a Fizzy to make those journeys to school and back (then work) so much more fun ;)

It needs recomissioning but I am not going to restore it - I am going to make it roadworthy and just ride it as it was in the 1970s.

It needs a few bits, so I'll post in the wanted section and see if anyone can help me do this - should be fun!

Anyone else in the Ipswich area?

All the very best.

Mike

Hi Andy and Paul,

Many thanks for the warm welcome.

Since I posted my introduction I have fully recommissioned the Fizzy with new tyres, new brake shoes, new plug, new genuine air filter, new MOT and new Tax. I wanted to keep it original and have stuck with that.

She rides perfectly with a very quiet engine, very light clutch and smooth gears - she wanted to go way beyond 40mph but I resisted the temptation :-)

I'll get a picture posted shortly.

Best wishes,

Mike

Hi Mike ,
Welcome to the site.
It's about time you got another fizzy!
The bike looks great and has not been messed about with.

When you need any parts go to this website to get the part numbers:
http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-fs1e-1975-type-394-england_model20288/partslist/
Then buy from Fowlers of Bristol ,they have most parts in stock and are alot cheaper than ebay.

I have some photo,s I think you would like to see remember this SS.

I hope they come out for you!

If you need any help just ask they are a great bunch.

Hey Colin!

Is that really BET **** that I sold some time ago? She looks absolutely amazing - well done mate!

If it is BET - did you get those crankcases for it from that chap I mentioned?

Thanks also for the great pictures and the links to CMSNL etc. - much appreciated!

Regards.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thank you yes it is betty :)
I rang Gary about the cases many times and in the end he said they had to much corrosion in them!

I stripped her down as soon as I got her home rebuilt the engine with a long shaft and renewed alot of the parts, never got that carb. running right so I fitted one I had in the garage which I got from a steam fair for £5 :)
I think it took about 7 months to get her back on the road as I had to wait for the weather to warm up for the spraying but saying that she is a on going project ,last year I polished the hubs and had the wheels rebuilt with stainless spokes and gen. rims.

She lives in my heated garage next to the dehumidifier.

I,ve just seen you are putting the bike on ebay that is a shame as it is very original not alot around like that hope you get a good price.
I've asked the wife and she said if I get another bike she will get another pony so i'm out of the running. :X

Nice to hear from you Mike and I hope all is well

Colin
