Just started sorting my wiring out??? Can somebody tell me if there should be 6v at the Points and condensor. I have 6v at all brown wires and i think i have worked out where everything goes but i have nothing at the stator plate? I thought i should be able to get a spark from the points with the ignition on? (The bike was in bits when i bought it so i am working off the wiring diagram posted on this forum) Also what should i expect from ignition position 1 and ignition postion 2 regards to voltage. |

The ignition is "self generating" so there is no voltage at the points unless the engine is spinning. You should get a spark unless the wire (usualy black or black and white) that goes between the points and top coil is earthed, which it should be when the ignition switch is in the '0' position. If this wire is disconnected from the switch, the engine should spark whatever position the switch is in (it must still connect to the top coil of course). Position '2' is to switch the lights on, which which run on AC, direct from the generator. Only the horn, indicators and brake light work on DC from the battery. Cheers Mark C
