You have all the seals in the right place. I'm not sure about that other bit that you have at the opposite end of the spring though.

When I did mine it was very difficult to get the fluid to start to bleed through. The seal nearest the outlet has to act as a one way valve and they're reluctant to do this when new and hard. So it's possible you had it correctly assembled. You either need to apply some pressure to the reservoir or suction to the bleed nipple. It was a while ago, but think I ended up with the hose disconnected from the calliper and got fluid through that first. Once it's started to pump through it should be ok from there.

Cheers

i had the same problem, when the fluid has been drained it does'nt seem to want to pump it through once it has been re assembled,in the end i undid the bleed nipple attached a piece of clear pipe and the sucked the fluid through with my mouth.once through it pumped up and bled ok.

I'm not sure, but I don't remember anything being there on mine. It also looks different to your old one. Hopefully someone will know.

Sorted..... the part that i had at the end of the spring goes between the seal and the piston. The half moon does go at the front held into place with a circlip. Had to suck on the brake hose to get the fluid started but its all working fine now. Happy days :)

Just to try and clear a few posts i have had on the master cylinder. First i put the spring in the cylinder, then the seal, then the metal cap with the flat bit in first, then the piston, then the half moon washer which is held in place with a circlip, then the dust cover and finally the circlip. I had problems bleeding the system, fluid at the nipple but no pressure? (nearly kicked the bike over more than once) but i found that the air was at the banjo bolt (the bolt that fits the brake pipe to the master cylinder). Pump the brake four or five times and hold it in. Then undo the banjo bolt and you should find air there (because the air is light it will travel up the pipe leaving you no pressure) tighten the bolt then let go of the lever. I did this a couple of times and instantly got the system to pressurise. Once you have done this you should be able to bleed through the nipple if needed without losing pressure. Hope this helps.
