Hello,

I've fancied a fizzy for longer than I care to remember, and although Yamaha did sell them in Canada I gather most were sold in the province of Quebec, I live in Ontario. I have Serial Restoration Disorder so I've been looking in the classified adverts for about the last 10 years searching for parts or bikes (I'm running out of room!), and until recently I've never seen one at a show or for sale. I have a couple of old Yamaha model range brochures, one for 1976 that lists the machine as a FS1 C and a 1977 brochure that shows a FS1 D, the pictures are small but both bikes appear to be the same featuring a cherry red paint job with speed block graphics.

The one I came across recently was advertised as a FS1 E, so I got the guy to send a couple of pictures and it looks original enough but I wondered if anybody might be able to confirm the colours or what else might have been available at the time. I've emailed for more info but the guy hasn't got back to me yet.

I think the colours are fuggly, mainly because I always prefered the colours and look of the DX model, I doubt they sold the DX in Canada but maybe somebody knows otherwise? I'm interested in buying and restoring this one but if I knew they had sold DX's I'd pass up on it and wait for a DX. Is there a fizzy historian out there? Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks for lookin'

Sean

I'm sure someone on the site will be able to answer your questions, but the bike in the photo looks quite tidy, you could always restore it as a "DX"

Regards

Hay i just got a canada fs1e the same as yours a week a go from a guy in the same state as you...... from a town called chelmsford ??? i also come from chelmsford ,, but in England Thats why i just had to have that fizz.
The bike in the photo is a 1975 ,, and it is a resticked bike ..10mm carb,, and a pipe that is very hard to change ??? also it has a reed valve??? NOT rotory valve .And a big 43 tooth rear sprocket
You can put the stock .u.k pipe and carb on it and 39 tooth sprocket and you will get as good if not a little better performace than the u.k fizz
The bike is a FS1 TC NOT FS1E CHECK THE VIN NUMBER IT STARTS 557 THEN ITS A FS1 TC FOR SURE its rare . BUY IT SLAP THE U.K CARB AND PIPE ON AND SPROCKET AND PAINT IT UP THE WAY YOU WANT IT . If you get it for $1000 u.s or less you got a deal ..
Garry if ya need help p.m me

Thanks for the info Garry, you're right.

Buster, I'm from Georgetown, unfortunately I'm on vacation in Italy right now so it's kinda hard to check in. I'll be back in about 10 days.
