the haynes manual shows the pedal drive sprocket, spring and drive dog being removed then nothing else! you can see the main sprocket.
the collar pt1
holders pt2
clip pt3
from the parts list, are these behind the main sprocket?

what does the drive dog run against?
Cheers

no I,m not that far in yet, just trying to get my head around it for when I have to do it so I have the bits bought and ready.

I have come to the conclusion that the parts in question are internal to the engine and not out side.
I got all the worm drive parts for the clutch today from yamaha, so am going to assemble that ready for the side casings coming back from the painters.
its just a waiting game at the moment.

dun it stress you out :(
it does me, trying to do every thing at once.
I was a little suprised the almere pipe on ebay only went for 46 quid, I thought it would have hit a ton.
no bits yet from them

Its driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent my engine to the Racoon man for a full internal rebuild. Cost me lol but stunning job. returned today.

Banged in 2 big orders yesterday to Per and the Duchies to get the rest of the stuff.

My advice to anyone doing this is buy the most complete bike you can and dont worry about the price. Its better to have it all there and restore rather than rebuy!!!

On a serious note send your engine to a specialist (e.g. racoon rebuilds) ask for a quote first and let the experts deal with it.

Sorted thru the barn find again today. Got some spare engine bits so let me know.

Keep going bud!

:D

wife as just called to say big parcel arrived from the duchies, I will need to wait till I get home tonight for a look
will post some pics of the collars

off to see a 70's topbox out of the local rag at dinner, I got one with the bike but the lock was missing, I am going to buy this one if it has a lock on it and keys.

off to yamaha again to get the e clips and circlips for all the external shafts
I checked and they can get any key for any yam if you have the number £7.50 ea though, more than a pattern lock!

going to halfords to look for fork oil and engine oil, apparently they do the correct grade oil without all the bull in it (addatives) for the older engines, will also check out yamaha

Is it just a case of pushing these in or is there a special trick I should know about?

nice, hope mine are as good.

yep assume your seal has a metal band around the out side like the originals, if so stick em in the freezer for a few hours to shrink them, then a little wd40 and they should pop in (assuming to tight a fit to start with)

Halfords don't do the 20/40 oil any more.

Yamaha said the 10/30 is fine for both the forks and the engine, but I don't know wondering if anyone has thoughts on the correct grade so as not to get and clutch slip problems.

get back to work and stop buying things on fleabay :D :D

you can do my shocks now with that tool :)

yep mine are a good as yours. I also got genuine yamaha seals B)

there was 1 part missing from the order a pedal crank pin, struggled to get these, and I ordered a chrome steering head washer 4 quid, it came chemical black, so I was peed off. I have a brand new yam one that is chem black and assumed I got what was in the photo, so now I have 2. I have mailed them and to their credit they mailed back at 7 pm apologized for the pin missing and offered to polish a washer or refund, good service. I opted for a polished 1 as I cannot be arsed to polish this new one here. I will sell the new one on flea bay as still in packet, unless you need it, you can have it for free.

the exhaust I got looked exactly the same as my original ;) I am going to have a good comparison check tomorrow and take a pic.
the rear muddy looks ok. the tunnel is slightly lower than original and I will have to drill all the holes, hmmm not happy about that, sounds like a fu--up will happen but 22quid ;)
I also got the chrome shockers, all I want off them is the bottoms. I got mine off before 1 took 2 mins the other 5 mins.
I clamped the top in a vise(the bushing) then kept pulling down and turning at the same time a few pulls (I am an expert at that) and the bottom cup was moving, I then pulled and slight push, it then hooked under the nut. popped in the 14 mm spanner, little click on the top bottom bush holder and unscrewed it. the second one as I said went in a couple of pulls (i'm known for my speed) :D :D
