Hi fellas, I've dug out my old nickname again, I don't own a Fizzy anymore but have been coerced on here by Jakey one of my oldest friends who seems to have caught the bug and is trying to infect me  I bought my first Fiz in 83 NUD357P and spent many hours riding and blowing it up, it was fairly heavily tuned and on a good day would touch 60 on the flat, on a bad day wouldn't pull 4th very well and would cruise along at 50 a Gnats **** under the power band, it would fly down hills but tended to heat seize or disolve the piston crown if you kept going too long, once I fitted a relieved head with a better squish band things got a little more sensible. It had a big bore kit bought from Readspeed that was an entirely new casting and was pretty good, ported it myself then let a pro have a shot, jesus that thing revved, also had a radically cut disc valve and a Fresco expanny.
After an incident with the back of a Maestro I rebuilt it using a DT175 mx tank, homemade 2/4 seat and a plastic cut down back mudguard, ran knobbly tyres and slightly longer rear shocks with a red frame and white panels. Once I reached 17 I built a stock looking Yellow Fiz KFC 272N to which I fitted a YB100 engine, this had a port job, head skim, a slice from the disc valve and an upswept Micron which would ignite its baffle packing regularly. Did 70 and got there very quickly, after being pestered relentlessly by Jakey i sold it to him after about 6 months and used the money to buy a car.
A couple of years on after owning several dirt bikes I picked up a really nice 74 Fizz UBH 68N, unable to leave anything alone I radically cut the disc valve, ported the already fitted bore kit and after a lengthly burning out session of the standard exhaust drilled the discs out to an inch or so by welding a huge drill bit to a length of pipe. This strangely enough was the fastest(reliably) FS1E engined one I owned and would just pass 60 on the flat laying on the tank and would even pull 55 two up :o I lent this one to a friend of mine who managed to get involved in a burglary and was chased by the Police which involved him ditching my bike(allegedly in the river) and that was the last I saw of it, luckily never owned it long enough to register it in my name :(
These are the 3 main ones owned but during this time I owned probably 20 all told and messed around with many others for friends. Now here's the sickner I gave away all my stuff to a guy in 1988 who did nothing with it and ended up skipping the lot, yes there was loads of really good stuff, yes there were a lot of new parts, and yes I am kicking myself. :ph43r: I'm being chased by Jakey to find out my photos but so far they haven't come to light, if I find any I will scan and post them. At the moment I have no immediate plans to buy another FS1E but you never know, it's fun remembering the stuff we got up to and hearing about the stuff we'd forgotten. I may bore you all with some more stuff some time.. John
Stop press I have found some negatives and they are being printed once back I will scan and post them. B)

:D  :D :D
HI MR Philips , allthough i know what you had just said im chocked , yes lads the story is true this man knew every thing about fizzys we all went to him with our fizzy problems and sat many hours in his garden waiting for him to fix our bikes ,if he couldnt fix it he went to his garage found another engine and in it went. I remeber the L reg fizzy that was skipped what was amongst the full garage that was skipped we looked up to the hippy that rode and owned the bike thats how Flika got it,. , when he put it up for sale. Also the red and white fizzy with the dt 175mx tank and knobbleys that bike was rapid and looked cool , if Flika ever finds his fizzy photo album you wil be amazed what he built. :) . kfc 272n was the best bike i ever had why i sold it god knows .
Thats why i bought my present yellow dx with fairing because it reminds me of that very bike and yes i am fitting a yb in for old times sake . :ph43r:
