Hi Everyone, i'm new to this site and am joining as I start my winter project to restore my FS1-DX to its former glory.

Firstly i'll introduce myself, my name's tom, I'm 26 and from coventry, I'm passionate about anything on 2-wheels. I race at club level on a suzuki gsxr 1000 and also do a bit of motocross now and then.

My bike, well its a story of much regret i'm afraid, but plenty of hope! I have a 1977 FS1-DX (with the disc brake), my dad managed to get hold of it for me in 1997 when i was 16, the bike was brand-new and un-registered!!
Looking back this bike should never have seen the road and that is the regretful bit. It was abused for a year by me, a 16yr old who didn't know any better and then as soon as i got a 125cc the fissy was left to rot in the garage.

So here i am 10 years later, i'm now a fully qualified mechanical engineer and i really want to have this bike back to how it was - how it should be! i'd say the condition of it is 'neglected', its by no means a full restoration job, but i want to make sure its A1.

I look forward to the journey........

no pics on pc yet! i've got a loveley pic of it as-new taken in '97, i'll get it scanned and stick on this post at some point in the near future...

it's a dark burgendy/maroon colour, the tank and seat trim are in this colour. The side pannels are black as is the frame, swingarm, fork shrouds and headlight main body. The mudguards and headlight rim are chrome.

its a cracking example, look forward to seeing it back to its best!

First question is does anyone know a good place to get seats or re-covering done? it HAS to be as original.
