Hi Folks Well I am one happy chappie having this week taken ownership of a very nice 77 baja brown Fizzie. Really wanted one for about three years and good old mr e bay served me nicely. Some of you may have seen this on e bay recently ( 120174017622) if your interested. thought it may go for about £1800 but got it at reserve £1595 and well happy with the condition and restoration work at that price. I wanted to avoid buying a basket case which may have become another too hard or expensive to do job adn certaily buying this has been a very good idea. There is room for improvement but all as declared before I bought this so no nasty surprises. Just added 40mile to the run in of the engine which had only done 12 miles since rebuild. I am goig to keep it to thirty for 300 miles then I can warp factor !!!!!! well Ok 45 ish after slowly building up to it. Confession time, at sixteen i was over the darkside and owned and rode an AP50 (PCN 197R) and was not exactly a little angel on it hitting the mean streets of Newcastle along with my fellow Fizzie, Fantic and ss50 crowd. The best laugh has been telling the boys at work what i have bought, the joke is I dont hold a full Bike licence just on my grandad rights with full car licence. As an occupation I am a Traffic Sgt and many of the guys I work with ride bikes at work and have offered me a place on one of our bikesafe ride outs specially for scooters and mopeds, i will wait until the Fizzie is run in . I doubt the camera equipped Hyabusa we have will catch me speeding. I have not ridden even a 125 for at least 15 years so getting back on two wheels has reminded me jsut how vunerable you can feel especially as you cant keep up with the traffic flow out of the 30s. I have just taken the LH side panel off to spend my first £70 for it to be prepared and repainted. The tank and RH panel are very good and it would have been great to keep the original paint work but the LH panel really did let the bike down and was known to be the first job to be done to continue the improvement to this bike. I believe this Fizzie (ODL 860R) started its life in the Isle Of Wight and only came across here last year when the restoration work started, anyone with knowledge of its history I would love to know about to help build a decent picture of its past. Well I am looking forward to just slowly improving this one and it will give me great fun just riding the back roads of the East Riding. Well its pretty dry outside so guess where i am off, yep with my nice shinny new helmet going to take the new toy out again and smile smile smile. trafman |

Welcome, Nice looking fizzy... Maybe you can help me out on a question... Can you tell me if it's legal to bring a Danish insured Fizz (Which in Denmark is a restricted moped without license plates) to England and attend in a coast to coast rally. In Denmark we only recently started with licence plates on regular mopeds. |

Yep decared my occupation as it is a serious laugh at work being a fizzy rider at 45 but want to keep work and play separate and it is a potential can of worms to set yourself up as a so called expert. I want to talk fizzy on here and escape the madness get down my garage and tinker etc. A real big thanks to chas an co who have been very generous with their advice and help getting this newbie off the ground. This really is a top and friendly site. martin |

Simon Thanks for the info re the origin of my Fizzy. I really had to check on the web to see if it was sold by Dave Death Motorcycles, I mean I can just imagine at 16 some kid telling his mum he is off to see Mr Death who wants to sell him a motorcycle!! I was not surprised to see this is the name of a real yammy dealer, guess his service tech is called G reaper. I will be contacting the above dealer to see if he has any info regards its sale and history. Actually a nice talking point that your Fizzy was sold by Mr Death albeit not so reassuring as a rider of it. thanks for your contact details will catch you soon. cheers trafman
