Hello my name is Scott and I have a '76 Fizzy. I never had a Fizzy when I was 16, I had a Honda MB5 which was a pile of poo, then on turning 17 a RD125LC, then on to a RD350LC before moving on to big four strokes.

I bought the Fizzy last month and to say I'm pleased with it would be an understatement! Its far from concourse condition but is very solid, the engine in particular is very quiet and easily pulls 45mph. Some of you may of seen it on eBay. Its a bit of an odd one, its was reregistered by the previous owner, DVLA giving it a P plate after Yamaha supplied a letter stating the frame was manufactured in '76 but everything else seems to be '78? Also its pretty obvious that certain parts are not genuine, the mudguards, indicators and rear light for example. But so far haven't come across any bodges, everything works just needs tidying. I have the standard exhaust and engine bars.

I am planning to restore it to its former glory, so far the list is;

Tank re-spray (including seat trimming)
Replace shocks (work ok but rusty)
Wheels re-spoked
Decals on side panels

See photo below, your comments and suggestions most welcome...

hi Scott ....
the engine /frame / number prefixes should help identify the date of manufacture ...
IE .. 394 ...or 596 .....etc..

nice to see your keeping it in the house B)

Must have had a replacement frame at some stage from an earlier bike.

Hi folks, thanks for your comments, the bike came with standard exhaust I fitted the Micron, I am yet to see how it goes with it on because I am waiting for my local Yamaha dealer to get me a new throttle cable due to the old one being badly frayed. I had intended to put it in the garage but haven't the heart to do it! Maybe in the summer when its slighty less damp.

Thanks for the photo Per, after studying it I now think its looks more original than I first thought.
