Hi Mark C here. I joined this site earlier this year when I bought a 76 speedblock Baja FS1E, although I had been on as a guest a few times before that. I bought my first bike, a Francis Barnett Falcon, jointly with two friends when we were all 15. We collected it on Bonfire night 1975, pushing it home from the next village trying to avoid the patrol cars. This was used to ride around on the local disused airfield, formally RAF Fiskerton in lincolnshire. In the hot summer of 76 I persuaded my Dad to let me spend all the money he had saved in my building society on a one year old Garelli Tiger Cross. I attempted to use it to get to work as an apprentice at a engineering works in Lincoln. Lots of expense later I got rid and bought my first FS1E (VFE 284M in red). My next bike was an L reg RD200. The RD took myself and a Mate to the 1977 TT. We were supposed to go on his bike (CB250G5), but he wrote it off the week before. Fortunately I'd already bought the 200 ready for 17 so we went on that to see Phil Read's return to the Island. I briefly had another 73 FS1E (White this time) as a runaround in the early eighties, when circumstances meant I was skint. I broke a piston ring once during a decoke, but it ran quite happily for several months with a single ring. I now live and work near Basingstoke, where I've been for just over 20 years. I've nearly always had a bike of some sort, not sure how many, maybe I should try and make a list. At present I have a Hinkley Bonneville T100 and of course the Fizzy. |
