It seems Mr Adultika has got more competition than just me these days.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...rossSell_LogicX

Can anyone tell me why people go mad for the NOS tinware only to end up with a multi-coloured fizzy as they will never match up if buying in individual lots?

I have a few NOS Candy Orange pieces of tin I have collected from around the globe recently and there are not two items which are the same colour by far. I have just sent it all to Sleazy to re-paint properly.

I understand people wanting the poor quality NOS finish the same as when they came off the production line 30+ years ago but surely not if none of the panels remotely match????

Yes, I often do ask myself why I spend what I do on some parts??  :( :(

......and I have paid up £50 for a NOS side panel and then sent it for painting for two very good reasons:-

1.) at least you know it's not rotten under the paint and won't disintegrate when being blasted.
2.) The NOS paint finish is sh1te to say the least, usually with a few scratches and colour fade etc!!

Why dont you just buy some good second hand panels and get then blasted and repainted then.

I really dont understand your logic on that one

...I tried that for a while on ebay but unless you actually see 2nd hand ones in the flesh before you buy them most of the time they turn up disguised as in good condition when they are really rotten, especially around the edges. I have probably bought 20-30 side panels in the past 12 months out of which I could count on one hand the ones we were able to blast and paint.

Both Tony & I got fed up working with piles of junk and the only way to guarantee decent tinware to work with was to go for NOS ones.

Decent used tinware is becoming rather scarce these days! :(
