just to let you know - non of the stated 'GOLD DUST' is dodgy. why!, because it is genuine just like ME. The item for sale belongs to me and I am auctioning it along with other parts of my fizzy. I have owned this 1975 fs1e-dx (competion yellow) model from new which, i bought on November 5th 1975. I have been the sole owner of this fizzy from day one and I hope this statement puts the record straight as to what is 'DODGY' and what is 'GENUINE'.

hi per,
As you are aware you have bid and won the number plate from me so now you know who alanp3003 is. Let me explain as briefly has I can in respect of your question. I had every intention of restoring this fizzy and spent a small fortune over the last 8 months bidding and buying genuine parts to undertake this project. My intention was to restore this fizzy to it's former glory and then decide from this point what I would do next. I am an engineer / machinist so undertaking restoration work of this nature would be well within my capacity to complete such a project. The problem I have, in my current employment capacity I do not have the facilities for completing such a project and therefore would have to out-source some of the engineering requirements, which can be very expensive to say the least. I started this project and stripped the fizzy down to it's last nut and bolt with every intention of finishing this restoration. I made a decision, which I had deliberated on for a time and came to a conclusion that I would abandon this project and basically sell and profit more by selling this moped in bits. One of the main under-lying factors in the decision to abandon this project, is our intention to move to a new family home. In respect of 'fizzy nostalga' in keeping this piece of history alive, by all means I have sympathy with restorers who want to do this, but in reality money speaks louder, than most cases that ethical or moral values would ever achieve. In respect of selling the fizzy as a complete unit, after the current auction I only have the engine/frame/forks/swinging arm/wheels/centre stand/bits and pieces left to sell. I have been honest in reasoning why I have taken this course and therefore everyone has the right to make decisions whether they are agreeable or favourable to public or marketing forces.
Thanks for your contribution. alan

The other way to look at it is that one fizzy broken may put 10 others back on the road?

Sorry about that mate. Its probably just the pic but it looks as though the m/cyl cap has been painted black. Although i cant say really im not a DX person lol. perhaps should be satin black? Again im not sure but shouldnt the fasters, banjo's bleed nipple etc be green?

If you want to send any letter bombs my name and adress is...

hi there,

No apologies needed, i just felt the need to respond and hopefully i have not upset anyone with my rambling rendition of why I am selling this fizzy in bit form. To clarify points on the issues raised, firstly the m/c cap has not been resprayed black, it has been polished on a buffing machine and clear laquered. As you can appreciate, this m/c cap is nearly 32 years old and with anything of this age surface deteriation is inevitable. Secondly, in respect of the banjo fitting being of a geeen colour, if that is the norm with later models, well I would accept that. Another point of interest, the banjo fitting is secured to the master cylinder resorvoir sandwiched between copper washers. Copper surfaces deteriate with age forming a green oxidisation film which is accelerated with any sort of acidic elements.
Whether banjo fiitings where of green/silver/gold or any other colour for that matter this is only annidisation of surface metal protection. In the mid-seventies one must remember choice of annidisation colouring was certainly not as wide ranging as it is today. If the banjo fitting on this auction item was colour annodised, it certainly is not now, as I have polished it with my buffing machine.

thanks alan

I have often wondered where you can get things plated with that green coating that the japs use on fastners etc. it seems the only way is to buy the genuine parts.
