How about a Honda CG125 twin? or a Early Honda CB125?

First, you mean a CB125 twin, they are just pants, CG's are just slow and gutless.

If you want a good, nippy road legal 125, look for a Honda xl125, but get a mono-shock, the twins are getting too old.

DT125R's, c'etait tres bon.

and depsite being made by suzuki, i have to admit that the RG125 (suzuki's version of the RD) is annoyingly nice, and fast, ask max.

If you want a bit more ooomph, go for an xl185, lots of torque, yet still below the power limit.

I love my DT soooooooooo much... plent of scope for go faster bits aswell. erm rule out 185 cos you cant ride it when your 17. DB a cg125 is anything but gutless, theyre just a bit slow, and anyway an XL is no quicker. but perfectly adaquate.

they sound ok yes. top end will be around 65 dont listen to what anyone else says. they are quite nice to go greenlaning on on a sunday but after a while the bad starting and rattley engine will get on your tits. as with most old bikes i suppose.

hmmm

i wish i hadnt of missed that dt125 now :(

i really would love to get a good condition one, but nearly all of the ones on ebay are the newer ones... i prefer the older ones (mk1/mk2) in white or black... but theyre getting quite hard to find now (for reasonable money)

nonononono, dont get an LC. get an 'R' theyre way more sophisticated as a bike and you will find parts easyer to come by and the whole riding expeience better. a20 yr old twostroke dirtbike is never a good idea unless you know its been looked after.

i meant an LC

i meant a dt125LC, not an old air cooled one...

but i dont want a NEW one, id prefer a 10 yr old (round 1990) one as i prefer the styling on them than the newer ones (i like the styling of your dt tommo) - bar the pink.

arent they the same engine as the tzr125's?

hmmm

after some thinking, i may save my cash now, and book my bike theory (for 33bhp) instead, because that way i miss out spendign £500 on a bike just to spend another £500-£1000 on another...

hmmm what bike to get....

A Honda XL125 would be good but ive had experience with old honda's before and there not good at starting but there so so so relaible and they will always do their top speed.

But i think you should go for a DT125 because they look cool and are quite cheap too and are relaible like the fizzy....

i think you miss the point fizzy DX. He is taking his proper bike test and will probably want a 250cc motorbike.

i agree with the top end of 65, bads starting you talk balls, always first or second kick for my old 125, the 185 is always 2nd hot or cold. All my mates XL's never miss a beat and start fine too. Rattley, yea they do make a bit of a racket.

frodo, the DT125R is liquid cooled, its a more developed LC.
