Hi, After 33 years languishing in a shed my fizzy has made it to the top of my restoration list. Bought my 76 Baja brown off my best mate in 1981 and passed it my Sister to use when I moved up to the massively powerful Xs250 which I also still have. She used the fizz through to 84 and then it moved into the back of various sheds and buildings until a few months ago. Matching numbers UK 394 but ended up in a rather sorry state. My intention is to rebuild with as much original or OE Yamaha parts as I can but not for a show build as my Nephew will be using it when he hits the magic age. At the deepest stage now with everything dismantled but the frame And tinware are back from powder coating and I have rebuilt wheels with Yamaha sourced rims and spokes. Replacing all seals and bearings in the engine with OE parts along with disc valve and clutch plates but it all looked excellent when I got it apart. Fizzy doctor loom ordered today so lots spent already I am going to try to keep the original paint on the tank and side panels because despite numerous chips and battle scars it still has its original lustre and decals in fair condition. I can see a few areas I may need some advice (forks for one) so I thought an introduction a week or two before may be polite 😀 In Surrey / South London area |
