Hello Fellow Warriors,

As I am sure most of you have noticed, rakion is slowly becoming less and less popular, as well as the issues with patching the game. This latest patch has prevented me from logging on, as well as the fact that: a) The game is dying, b) Less and less clan members are actually coming on, and c) Softnyx is screwing everything up with each "Update"

Never fear however, we (FCW admins and fellow members) have already begun the process of finding new games to play as a clan. This has been going on for approximately 1 year now, as we always wanted more than just rakion as a clan game. The first game we tried was Trickster, a game similar to Maplestory in game play. This is the review that SinisterSlay posted:

It's a standard MMORPG with fighting monsters etc, leveling up, guilds, same old stuff there. One plus is it's totally free unless you wanna buy special junk, just like Rakion in that sense. It's a bit cartoony and childish though, but ignoring that, it can be enjoyable for a hard core MMO player. But to most of us, it just gets boring fast. Imagine an RPG where all there is to do is mini sub quests, and imagine all the quests involved digging items out of the ground, and killing the same monster over and over. Battles consist of clicking on the enemy, and watching, with the occasional item and skill usage, the same sort of boredom you'll have in FF12. The difference being FF12 has some sort of story (maybe?).

We all kinda gave up on that game.

Second was Maplestory. It was fun for the first week or so, and then it was unbelievably repetitive (Kill 100 crabs). Once again, a review from Sinister:

Quote:

Graphics: Decent, understandably it is 2D so it can't get a great score, but it was ok.
Sound: Yuck, lame music, for such a Mario feel; it didn't have Mario music lol.
Game play: Ok here is the kicker, the game play is actually decent. Again, a bit like Mario with jumping and side scrolling worlds. Down side is how you attack with a weapon. You essentially just hold down the Control key and watch it happen and hope the enemy dies before it walks through your weapon and hits you. There is no combo system or anything like that. I did not play far enough to get any sort of magic or anything however. But it would have been nice to have some varying attacks, such as hold the Down key and attack does a different attack, up key again diff attack, aerial attacks etc. As it is you land on a platform with enemies and hold down the control key till everything is dead.
Overall: Personally I found this game a yawn. It was not active enough, not enough user input into the game, essentially just watching it happen even more so than console RPG's. Some variety in attacks would definitely improve this game, combos etc. Missions that don't involve killing and collection only would be nice. Maybe some sort of option story line?
Good effort but needs refinement, we are no longer in a world of Astrosmash where we can be satisfied with 1 button controls and 2 directions of movement.

That game also dried up.

ELAN online was another game we tried, but never got into. Wolfteam was full of fail for us as a clan. Ragnarok Online, I think only Srieg played.

Racing games have always been part of FCW, so we tried with Need For Speed Underground 1 & 2, as well as one of our original games, MTM2 (Monster Truck Madness). Personally, I have none of these games installed on my machine anymore, but am always willing to re-install if we have some interest.

At this point, rakion became big again, so we put off searching for new games. However, we are now again at that point of rakion crashing and I feel that this time will be the last time. One of the new games we have been trying is Grand Chase, a game from the designers of Trickster.

Dunno how many of you have heard of this game, it is called Grand Chase (Google it). It is made by the same people that made Trickster. This time around they have created a super smash brother's style combat game fully online. Just like Rakion, there are Cash items, and gold items (known as GP). Most of the items are cash items, however there is enough gold items for you to have a complete career without every spending a dime on the game. There is no "power user" or anything like that, the battle field is pretty much level.

There is also a dungeon mode that requires you to complete missions for temporary prizes, as well as XP and GP of course :). These dungeons are the essential story to Grand Chase. There are enough dungeons to easily get your character up to level 50, but after about level 15, the dungeons don't level you up enough to continue without PVP. Although the dungeons themselves don't have a level limit, you need to concur the dungeon at the hardest difficulty level, in order to unlock the next dungeon, and if you're only level 15 and your facing level 30 monsters, it is a tough fight. Of course you can always bring in a few friends or random people to come help you. Up to 4 people can dungeon together.

As for characters, you start off with 3 characters at your disposal, you can use one of any of the 3 at any time, no purchase or anything required, and you can change characters between matches if you want too. You start off with 3 female characters, Elises the swordswoman, Lire the archer, Arme the mage. The 3 characters are very well balanced.

Elises, Rapid attacks and powerful damage, a full combo from her will take down any characters, and you cannot escape, but she is a very slow runner, she can "Air Dash" which is basically her primary mobility to use to catch up to other people.

Lire, Very rapid fire arrows, very fast run speed, very height jumps, and she can double jump. However arrows do little more than counter people's special attacks and make it difficult for people to charge up and attack, truly a support character.

Arme, Very slow in every respect, very low jumps, slow dash, no air dash, however very very very powerful standard attacks, has no "combo" attack but can cast spinning wheels at people that furiously chip off health from whoever it hits. She can double the speed of her mana charge by sitting still. If an Arme is left to charge, she can cast some devastating magic including meteor shower which will decimate anyone around her and badly injure everyone on the map. Her final perk is almost Rakion ninja like, her ground dash actually makes her invincible for a short period of which at the end you can cast a fireball back at your enemies. Making her very slippery to fight, because she can simply runs straight at you, dash through you, and throw a fireball at your back.

The rock paper scissors of Grand Chase:
Elises > Lire
Lire > Arme
Arme > Elises
Elises Auto blocks arrows from Lire
Lire can pummel Armes while they try and charge or move at all, all attacks get canceled.
Arme can slip away from Elises over and over long enough to charge and devastate Elises.

Currently, Me, Sinister, Tarotar, and Bob are all playing Atlantica Online, a MMORPG that is in open beta stage right now. We are really enjoying it.

There are many different characters. When you start, you get to choose your weapon and gender. There is a swordsman, axe, spear, archer, gunner, cannoner?, magic, etc

Also, as you get them higher levels, and the proper items, you can upgrade them into more advanced versions, a total of around 5 for each one. As for the battle system, there are two grids, one for you and one for opponents. There is a timer, depending on how many people in your party; it changes from 15 secs for a turn up to 30 max. During that time, you can move your characters to any spot on your grid, attack, use items, magic attacks, etc. Each player also has a limit on what they can do in a turn; some attacks prevent any action in the next turns.

When your time is up, the enemy goes. Same deal with them, they have a time limit (which I have never seen them exceed or use up), and they attack back.

You have a total of 5 quick slots, but only 2 are available at the start.

Right now, there is an event on for writing a review about the game, so if you look at nay of the normal gaming forums (gamespot, mmorpg, etc) you will find reviews for it.

Anyways, that's about all that is happening with the clan currently. I will be offline for a few days now, as my hard drive is dying hardcore, so I am backing everything up to return it.

Goodbye for now,
Savitashri, FCW leader.

why not?

As far as i understand, it is in devlopment and when the beta is over they will add cash items. If I had to guess I'd say the licences will be cash items, such as the teleports, etc.
According to many players, the company that makes atlantica has several free games with cash perks and never gets over powering to cash users.

Well, me, Sin and Taro played for about 45 mins today, in underground, and DIDN'T crash.

We was all out of practice (obviously), but it was fun still.

Might need to play with other people soon too :)
